Complex data structures can be compared with the neat UI, and serialized as well. Code coverage in the application can be analyzed with Rookout, easily. **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** As far as I can see, the application must be started with the Java agent, meaning a pre-running application cannot be debugged with Rookout. Using attach APIs might help in debugging already running applications. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rookout allows me to set breakpoints in a nested manner since the process need not stop to get the variable state. Rookout is a real-time cloud native debugger that allows developers to get to the root cause of issues in the code and resolve these in a fraction of the usual time. **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** Honestly, I don't find any issues/dislike with rookout. There were some challenges while connecting to the Kubernetes cluster, though rookout team helped and got that resolved at the earliest. They may work on connectivity moving forward. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have been using Rookout with Kubernetes and micro-services for real-time debugging. It is hard and time-consuming to debug in the Kubernetes production environment and rookout doing the job there saves precious time without redeploying or recreating the job/environment. While the documentation for this is thoroughly written, it's not super simple to follow without direct guidance. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** It solves multiple problems. The first is that it solves the issue of debugging the production code without affecting or stopping the application running in production. The second problem it solves is the tediousness of having to put a breakpoint in the local instance and suspending execution to see the data at the breakpoint, which can alter the default behavior of the application. ### 19. I can see and debug what is happening on my app in real time. Best for testing those untraceable bugs. **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** The User interface is quite confusing. And free plan has quite limited functionality, and the pricing also seems high compared to other alternatives like New Relic and Dynatrace. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** My Web application was crashing without any reason. The bug was hard to trace because the underlying algorithm was tested against all the possible cases, and it was sometimes crashing. Later using Rookout, we found out for which file it was hitting. Dynatrace provides plenty out-of-box capabilities to handle most of your monitoring needs. Dynatrace, as a platform, is designed for organizations to customize and develop their own monitoring solutions using Dynatrace native capabilities and keeping all metrics in a single system for deeper analysis that allows for the correlation of data across all monitored systems. **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** The product is not well tested for Quality Assurance as each release introduces unusual behaviors and new features are half-baked, not fully implemented, remove existing functionality, and have basic interface issues and inconsistencies. Support cases generally go unresolved because development teams believe the behaviors are expected and working as designed rather than listening to the client's problems regarding the tools approach or being told a solution is on the way, which generally takes 6 months to a 1 year to materialize. The API first approach is problematic because most system users are not developers and require an intuitive user interface to utilize Dynatrace's monitoring and analysis capabilities successfully. The time between API and UI linkage is closer to 1 year to never. In some cases, the APIs are also not well-defined or thoroughly documented. A common complaint is that Dynatrace provides enough capability or documentation to introduce a feature but never goes deep enough to feel fulfilled by the capability. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Dynatrace provides the ability to understand the health of our services and applications from the user's perspective. This improvement in monitoring enables our organization to resolve systems issues, application availability issues, and user experience issues before end-users call the helpdesk. Dynatrace provides deeper insight into the application's code and integrations with dependent systems so that the root cause of more complex problems can be realized much faster. By implementing Dynatrace, we have decreased the number of monitoring applications and solutions. Metrics are now all in the same place, allowing for cross-system analysis. These factors have benefited our operations teams in detecting problems, broken down silos between the levels of operation, and forcing collaboration among teams when resolving issues. ### 26. I can take an app, and within just a few minutes have the rookout agent present and setting breakpoints to look deeper into issues. It is not overly complicated to use but provides a tremendous amount of context around problems (that usually can't be easily obtained) and allows them to be resolved faster, greatly adding value. **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** Sometimes finding various items with the color scheme can be a bit difficult. However there have been some great improvements with this over the previous months, and I am excited to see how the product continues to develop. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rookout is solving problems around understanding where "Things went wrong" in the code, but not always my code, but both other departments code and customers code too that interfaces with us. This benefits me in the sense that I am able to have a better understanding of code at runtime, especially the customers code / others code that I do not have a full debugging environment setup for. This reduces the overhead of CI-CD and coding part. ### 32. It's dramatically reduced our MTTR by about 70% and allowed us to find issues in our applications that have impacted response times by 40% and have existed for years. It's become a core part of our development tooling. **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** Dynatrace, as an expansive platform has quite a steep learning curve; this is particularly true in organizations where the observability mindset may not be mature. If I were to look to deploy Dynatrace to a new organization, I'd focus on the cultural elements of the transformation alongside the technological aspects. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Dynatrace has helped us solve the end-to-end observability issue and introduce APM across all our applications, regardless of their base technology. It has quickly become the favorite monitoring tool that we use and continues to expand functionality and is helping us to replace many legacy tools that have not been able to innovate and keep up with new technologies. **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** I have zero dislikes when it comes to using Dynatrace. It has been super easy to implement while any issues/questions that we did have were quickly remedied by the Dynatrace support team. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Dynatrace allows us to see all the way down to the code level to easily point out the errors and failures that are affecting the end users of our applications. Using session replay we can easily see a visual playback of real end user sessions while all of the performance metrics are automatically baselined and alert on anomalies with little to no configuration. ### 35. Chat support does not work unless you have a trivial question. Limitations in dimensions for data and query interface can inhibit analytics. **Recommendations to others considering Dynatrace:** This is the closest product Ive seen with a single pane of glass for enterprise health. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Quickly identifying the impact and root cause of issues impacting clients and business services. The single pane of glass across all technologies provides a standard interface for technologists across business and technology to interact and understand the health of IT services. The new capabilities in GRAIL are addressing product limitations in ad hoc analytics beyond issue identification and resolution. ### 46. We can also share between operations, dev and also something we always forget , manager. With dynatrace we also avoid a lot of huge waroom like we used to have in the good old days . Those war room was taking precious time from my companies and where people being paid a lot of money was searching logs and logs and logs for issues . With dynatrace we can pinpoint to the exact problem in just a few click which is super duper great . I like the fact that more and more people in my organisation are using the tool which make the transfer of information easy . With th enew one agent , we also see all the information ( processes , services and such) with only a single installation . This installation is so easy that we were able to automate it . Really a nice product that I recommend ! **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** it is expensive. You need to be a part of a large enteprise to be able to use that product which make people from small company not able to use it . The rest is really likable I would say . You also will definitely pay for being able to use it, but it is definitely worth it. Support in general is extremely helpful especially if you have access to the live chat which I highly recommend. The product monitors everything we could ask for and more and they are constantly innovating. **What do you dislike about Dynatrace?** We have had issues in the past with a few staff assigned to us. They can get extremely ‘salesman’ on you at times. To be honest this is pretty much a norm in the industry, however the upper management in DynaTrace seems to address it if you bring it up to them. As for the product, I wish the Managed platform had -all- of the features of the SaaS system, while they are working on it, it isn’t all the way there yet. Pricing is also a pain point as it is not a cheap product. While I personally believe that it is worth it, depending on your industry you may find a lack of appetite for the pricepoint. **What problems is Dynatrace solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has done a really good job for us, it has helped us find pain points in our code and done a great job of helping us triage issues as they occur. Our favorite feature is by far RUM/UEM as it gets us right to the root of a user issue. We definitely don’t use the alerting features as much as we should but we lean heavily on the triage abilities of the product. Most recently we utilized the product to help us optimize our batch systems in preparation to onboard a new customer, it was a vital part of this effort. ### 48.
