**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find Customer.io's interface to be user-friendly, making it easy to understand and navigate, which streamlines the execution of complex tasks. The visual and interactive design of the campaign builder allows me to create engaging campaigns effortlessly, accelerating the process and enhancing the quality of our communications. I appreciate the abundance of explanations provided, which assist in mastering the platform's features without significant hurdles. Moreover, the responsiveness of Customer.io's support team is commendable, as they reply very quickly to inquiries, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and efficiently. This combination of an intuitive interface and reliable customer support significantly enhances my overall experience with Customer.io.

I find using the A/B testing feature in Customer.io challenging. I'm still trying to understand how to work with it effectively.

It’s quite technical overall, and building segments isn’t very easy to use (especially when cloning). On top of that, the e-mail designer is not very user-friendly.

Not all tools how I expect - for eg. e-mail creator for me is not the best, can't get results which I expect based on current used templates.

It could work more seamlessly with Golden, since some items in Golden don’t translate over to Customer.io.

Perfect for building complex, multi-channel automations without feeling overwhelming. The new features like the Visual Workflow Builder and AI-powered optimizations make it even easier to design smarter journeys. I also appreciate how seamless the integrations are with data tools and ad platforms. Great UX and constant innovation!

There’s not much to dislike. Sometimes new features take a bit to become fully stable, but the support team is always responsive. Overall, it’s impressive how much they keep improving without overcomplicating the experience.

It saves us a huge amount of time managing user journeys and makes it easy to create consistent, on-brand experiences for every segment. The automation capabilities have really improved our engagement and conversion rates.

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

With CustomerIO, it's been super simple for us to set up in-app messages and really personalise the messaging to our specific set of users. Really cuts down engineering time that is better utilised in development of core feature. The support from their team has been pro-active whenever we've run into issues. The initial integration was quick & fast.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Setting up an in-app around our style guide takes some time (e.g. our buttons have very specific colour rules etc.), it would be great if we could set up two or three standard templates to start off with, like for tooltip, pop-up, and slide-out in-apps.

Targeting users with personalised communication and helping us in improving activation rate and engagement rate. Saves a ton of engineering time with easy setup & tracking

Not much so far, it's not good for some e-commerce brands that use shopify and are better off using an ESP tailored for that.

It’s easy to use and straightforward to integrate. All the basic and advanced segmentation options are available, and the major customer-targeting channels are supported, including SMS, push, and in-app messaging.

Forms are not available in the current ecosystem, and reposts need to be refined further. Also, the automation is providing day-wise data instead of showing a campaign’s performance for a given period of time.

I really appreciate Customer.io's easy learning curve and the simplicity of setting up campaigns and newsletter blasts. The rapid advancement of AI presents both opportunities and challenges for Customer.io if they really striving for seamless digital integration of AI. More automation will amplify the ability to deliver campaigns, the objective should always be real-time customer journey management in the most cost efficient (in terms of labour required on CRM works) and effectiveness of the campaigns and the impact on customer journey.

Automation of the campaigns, automatic translation to multiple languages, it will significantly improve the value of the product. An agentic AI engine should be integrated ASAP. This is in order to support growth of enterprises that rely on Customer.io for their CRM partner

I also appreciate how intuitive the platform feels once you get used to it. The ability to track engagement and measure the impact of our communications has helped us make data-driven decisions, which is not something we could do easily before. Overall, it has simplified communication and made it far more effective.

We are educators and not very tech-savvy people. Getting started and getting used to this product was really tough.

Integrations. Using zapier also I can do so many things, and I have explored little of the potential yet. Secondly definitely the ability to insert events to trigger my campaigns: very useful!

They recently introduced direct integration with WhatsApp: fantastic. In general, they update their features very often, which I really appreciate.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I struggle a bit with linking people to segments, and not all campaigns start for me on the first go.

Sometimes updates are not very intuitive and require some study.

I can finally customize notifications within our application and create advanced email sequences. I also found the statistics monitoring system to be really effective. Truly advanced customization and hard-to-find extras such as integration with WhatsApp

Customer.io has launched new AI-related features that are very interesting and easy to use. It saves a lot of time and manual work, such as generating new segments by providing a detailed description.
Another feature that our team likes is the design studio, which is fantastic. We will use it more in the future, as we previously had Stripo.
Finally, the new layout for creating campaigns is great, and campaigns can be duplicated from other workspaces.

I think they have done a great job lately with all the new releases, they should continue doing the same

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The user experience is very intuitive and seamless. The features work as they should and the flows are designed properly. Other user engagement platform I have are not as powerful as Customer IO either because they don't have as many useful features or their features are not built optimally. 
The process of creating and editing segments is very easy and campaigns are also straightforward to create and monitor.
Customer IO integrates well with other data platforms like Mixpanel and this allows me to give the impact of engagement campaigns across board.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I wish Customer IO had AppsFlyer as a source on it's integrations directory so I can pass attribution data like campaign name or source from AppsFlyer to segment users and personalize workflows.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Customer IO to build out workflows to enable users go through the product funnel more smoothly with emails, push notification, in-app messages.
We also use it to send out regular newsletters to subscribed audience on our platform. Customer IO's integration feature also allows us to have one source of truth for our data as we can log events and pass them to other platforms like Mixpanel for product analytics.

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The platform it's really complete and easy to use. They have tons of integrations and let's us to integrate easily with our own datalake, enabling us to rapidly start our campaigns with e-mail and WhatsApp. The Customer Support is also a big differentiator. Even tho we use in the Essentials plan, the support is fast and they solve all our problems. And, if it is a software-side, they actually fix and update it.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I'd love to see a option to bulk edit my webhooks and to create variables with base urls or something. Because, we use a lot of webhooks for our custom Twilio integration, in tons of campaigns, but they're quite similar, so it would be handy if we had this option.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're improved our conversion rate by 20% since the implementation of automated WhatsApp messages via Customer.io. But, it doesn't helps us just in sales terms. Actually, in all the parts of our business. For an example, we're using it to personalize the customer experience with our insurance product, send relevant messages based on their use. We're pretty excited for what we're going to build more with CIO

Customer.io has become the backbone of our lifecycle marketing. Its real-time segmentation and event-driven automation make it easy to build highly personalised journeys that adapt to user behaviour. We’ve used it to run structured onboarding campaigns, abandoned cart flows, and reactivation series — all of which can be tailored at scale without heavy developer lift.

I particularly value how Customer.io integrates seamlessly with our wider stack. Combined with RudderStack and BigQuery, it enables a closed-loop system: capturing user attributes, segmenting audiences, sending personalised emails/push, and feeding engagement data back into our warehouse for analysis. We’ve even extended it to drive ad personalisation with AdButler banners via webhooks, which shows the platform’s flexibility beyond core messaging.

The workflow builder is intuitive but still powerful — you can run no-code campaigns or drop into API/webhook mode when you need more control. From onboarding emails to gamification-based engagement rewards, Customer.io has allowed us to run sophisticated, conversion-focused campaigns that respond directly to user behaviour.

Finally, Customer.io has been strong for data-driven marketing. With detailed activity logs, behavioural triggers, and custom events, we’ve been able to build a comprehensive customer lifecycle journey map, keeping messaging consistent across acquisition, activation, retention, and win-back.

The main challenge is that some advanced integrations (e.g., syncing with third-party ad servers or building custom event pipelines) can require developer involvement and ongoing maintenance. While Customer.io offers strong webhook support, there’s no native integration with certain platforms, so you sometimes have to engineer workarounds.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Customer.io, we struggled with fragmented communication across different user touchpoints. Campaigns were static, siloed, and often slow to react to user behaviour. Customer.io solves this by giving us a single platform for event-driven messaging, where every email, push notification, or workflow can be triggered in real time based on what users actually do.

It has also solved the problem of audience segmentation at scale. Instead of relying on batch lists or manual uploads, we now segment dynamically using traits and events from RudderStack and BigQuery. This ensures that users receive highly personalised content, whether it’s onboarding sequences, abandoned cart nudges, or reactivation flows, which directly improves engagement and conversion rates.

Another major challenge was connecting messaging with the rest of our marketing stack. Customer.io’s API and webhook flexibility allows us to integrate with tools like AdButler for personalised advertising and feed engagement data back into our warehouse. This means we’re not just sending messages — we’re creating a closed-loop system that continuously learns from user behaviour to optimise future campaigns.

It’s easy for me to generate and quickly publish campaigns for my end users, and to see what works and what doesn’t, which allows us to pivot quickly in our business.

The default link tracking in SMS, which makes links look suspicious, was a bit of a pain until I found a workaround by searching.

I’m not sure there’s anything in particular that I dislike about cio. That said, it would be great if cio offered a more comprehensive analysis module, with deeper insights and a broader range of reporting options.

I find Customer.io valuable for setting up onboarding and marketing automation emails. These create a lot of value in user activation, monetization, and retention. I appreciate the flexibility that the feature set enables. The features I find most useful include the campaign builder, broadcasts, and transactional emails. I would choose it again for the effective feature set, and I have no intention of switching.

Setting up Customer.io easy if you have experience with workflow tools. Customer.io's UX could be better and more user-friendly. There are signs that they're moving in a user-friendly direction, with capabilities like setting up segments based on natural language prompts.

I find Customer.io solves the problem of onboarding and activating new users via email, along with the problem of having agile marketing communications.

I've been using CustomerIO for 1.5 year now, and it has been a great experience. I really enjoyed using some of the recently introduced features: the new email editor and the design studio. While I was happy using the traditional editor, this new version is more versatile and lets me design even better and visually appealing marketing emails and newsletters. Awesome work, team :)

Don't have any specific suggestions as of now. Everything has been great so far.

The flexibility in campaign setup and the Liquid templating engine continue to be very helpful for creating personalized user journeys. I also appreciate the improvements in UI, which make navigation smoother.

I still find the analytics and reporting capabilities limited compared to other platforms. It would be very useful to have deeper cohort analysis, funnel tracking, and more customizable dashboards directly within the tool, without relying on external exports.

Customer.io is a fantastic automation tool that allows us to centralize our marketing on one platform . Some coding experience is needed to make full-use of Customer.io, but the upside of this is the ability to integrate with almost any other tool.  We have Customer.io connected to Snowflake to run smart, data-driven campaigns and send messages in our app and through the tools we already use.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The Customer.io UI sometimes slows down when you have many active campaigns. Some features like the message drafts, broadcasts, and events are somewhat unintuitive to use.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using customer.io, our company had a very scattered marketing infrastructure - we were manually querying our database to get emails and phone numbers of specific users every time we wanted to send a marketing message. Because Customer.io integrates with Snowflake and our other marketing tools, I can create segments and send messages to the right users whenever I want.

I'm using Customer.io almost daily, and it's one of my favorite tools to work with.

We can play around with HTML emails, and even in the general format of emails, we can add a lot of visual elements, and make them for desktop or mobile only.

Also, creating data-driven segments (if we integrate it with our CRM - which is pretty easy to do) is easy and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I'd love to be able to do A/B tests in broadcasts. Right now, you can only do it in campaigns.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating well-defined onboarding emails using their campaign module; it's really intuitive.

Also personalizing emails based on device, CRM elements, etc.

What I mentioned above was pretty difficult to create before Customer.io.

The customer support team at customer.io is incredible. They are prompt, kind, efficient, and literally go out of their way to figure out the answer to your questions. One person even recorded a Loom for me, and did tests on Zapier to help diagnose the problems!

The only support channel is email. They should at least open live chat, or better, allowing for limited use of Zoom or calls would be delightful.

Customer.io makes it easy to onboard and re-engage customers. They have a startup program which is huge for small or bootstrapped teams. It integrates with database management software easily, and can reach users across multiple channels. A/B tests are fun. Easy to track opens and understand if campaigns are working. Just rolled out a design studio that has made it easy to create great looking emails.

At the end of the day, Customer.io is for email tracking/automation. Great at what it does, but not a huge horizontal.

Customer.io allows us to send emails to users that haven't signed in in a certain period of time. When users sign up, they get promotional emails. When users reach a certain milestone, they get emails congratulating them. User retention, conversion, and engagement.

The only thing I 'dislike' about customer.io is the fact that it's not (yet) possible to compare desktop vs mobile metrics. For example: we are creating more and more responsive emails, so we want to see how many people opened, clicked, ... the mail on mobile vs desktop.

The triggers can be hard to come up with without much guidance. The errors aren't as clear. Just says "variable" missing.
