  ### 1. Good Dental Software, But Still Needs Work

**What do you like best about Curve Dental?**

It is a pretty system, easy to learn.  I like that the sidekick/ toolbar is words instead of a bunch of little icons you need to memorize.  It is a very clean interface and navigation.  The scheduler is very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

The reports leave a lot to be desired.  Thre is no short and sweet for the end of day with a total AR (outstanding and credits combined at the end).  Trying to print recare postcards is very time consuming and the margins in the templates are off.  There are still several reports that cannot be created.  The Audit trail is a joke and cannot be used or read for anything - not sure the point of it in the current form.  For security reasons it would be nice to have certain profiles locked down to a location or static IP address.  The third party billing company Curve suggests and pairs with does not work with the statements in Curve and make the office sending the statements look like their heads are somewhere very dark.  When you use DMA there is no due date on the statement, the account number are is highlighted in yellow, and is blank because Curve does not use account numbers, then the envelope DMA uses says be sure to include your account number on your check!  there is also no place to enter the amount that the patient is paying - so if they are on a payment plan or they are paying $500 on a $2000 balance, it is already filled in that they are paying $2000 - no other option.  There is also no option to make a special note on statements or make a billing note print on statements - in Curve or by a 3rd party.  It would be nice if there was a check box for a note made to print ont he statement, so a patient would know that the $50 annual deductible applied to this claim or service, Or  they maxed out annual benefits, etc.  It would also be nice if the amount that was actually billed out (whether it was the fee on the Master Fee Schedule or not) is what showed up on the insurance claim.  Also, if certain adjustments, like the 2% courtey off for paying for services at the time of visit did not come off of the fee submitted to the insurance company.  These two previoous points need a happy medium - there were SO MANY refunds or rebills to insurance companies in the first several months we were on Curve - it wa a part time job in itself!  It would be nice to see a comparison periocharting from last time - or the past few visits to current on the same chart in different colors so patients can see the improvement or worsening of periodontal disease.  It would be nice to be able to copy blocks in the scheduler so if you are entering the same one on the same day, you can copy and paste it.  Also, if the block had information like when it was entered and who entered it like and appt has on it - that would be VERY helpful!  Like a correspondence log even?  The imaging system is nice, but it would be faster if you could rotate or apply magic to all 4 BWX at the same time.  The insurance benefits do not show when a patient has met the deductible for the year.  Recare should be done by service code instead of appt tag - if someone adds BWX but adds the service to the walk-out and not to the appt, the recall is all messed up!  It's too easy to make mistakes.  It meeds to be streamlined and easier for the front and back to use for effectively.

**Recommendations to others considering Curve Dental:**

If your office is small and are light users, this may be a great software for you!  Or if you are a new office and just starting out, you don't send out many statements, etc.  If you are used to Eaglesoft or Dentrix, you will find this software easy to navigate, but frustrating in the ways it is still trying to catch up to those softwares - especially in the billing and insurance sections.  It is a good software, but could be great.  Overtime, we will see.  I wish I had waited another few years before switching my office.  We didn't have this issue, but make sure your internet is up for the challenge too, especially if you use a VOIP phone system.  If your internet goes down or is slow, you have no software.  Insist on a trial run/ fake system to use for a week or so for your office to practice in PRIOR to signing up.  They will tell you it is not available, until you sign the contract, then a miracle happens and a fake/ training system magically appears!

**What problems is Curve Dental solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Insurance benefit checking is nice.  The online portal is nice for patients who want to pay online - though it would be nice if the link was active for them to sign up longer than 24hours.  The online forms are very helpful too!  It would be nice if they could take a selfie for their profile photo, and even a picture of thier insurance card to upload on the portal or the kiosk too.

**What do you like best about Curve Dental?**

Curve is very user friendly.  I like that it is cloud-based.  I work from home in the evenings and weekends, so I appreciate how easily I can access our account from my laptop or computer.  If one of our hygienists is ill for example- I have them call me ASAP in the morning because I can access our schedule at home and know immediately what changes I'll need to make once I get in to work.  Scheduling visits is simple- the recare tab makes it easy to see where the patient is with scheduling their visits.  I use the color coding all day every day when patients call in.  Dragging visits over into the schedule from recare and charting is so simple.  I've recently started utilizing the Playbook dashboard.  I'm the office manager at our practice so I like to check on production and collections on a daily basis as well as monthly and yearly.  I run a periodic report every evening at close to see our production for that day.  I use other reports as well- the bank deposit report is used at the end of day for balancing.  The detailed report is the first place to look if we are out of balance because we can quickly match up all collections for the day and find i there's been a mistake in entry at some point.  Other reports we use on a regular basis are the insurance reports.  For example- I received an insurance payment the other day without an EOB- just a check with the patient's first name listed.  I went into reports and found who had that particular insurance an checked each patient until I found one that had the same first name and had an outstanding balance in billing from that insurance company. Very helpful!  I like the

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

I do not like the changes you made to billing statements a few months ago.  Our patients are very confused by them.  There seems to be a lot of information listed- almost too much information.   Payments are in light gray- very difficult to see.  And balances carried forward look like additional charges.  We've had some issues with certain insurances not showing an estimate in the invoice line in billing, so statements are created because it looks like there is only a patient balance remaining.  We use filters when creating statements and usually wait until the insurance balance is less than .01 to send statements out to patients.  I also think many of the changes that are made are not based on efficiency- they actually take more time to complete the task.

**Recommendations to others considering Curve Dental:**

Curve Hero's customer service is great!  They are available whenever we call with a problem or question and most of the time have a solution very quickly.  They are timely and efficient- we hardly ever have a wait when calling for help.  They also respond quicky when we submit tickets with questions, problmes or suggestions.

**What problems is Curve Dental solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are very efficient using Curve- information about patients is easy to access and accessed very quickly.  I also like the new productivity tab.  I was calculating this myself daily and keeping track but now it is available.

Curve is extremely user friendly, with tech support that blows everyone else out of the water.

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

There are only a couple of things I would like to change. One is the ability to schedule a new patient without having to put them in first. I wish we could select the time and fill it in, in that order. Also, would change how credits appear in the billing (NOT a fan of the new billing)- wish it was a red bar or something more prominent than the blue. Other than that, there is nothing I would change!

Curve allows me the ability to factor in fee schedules, percentage covered, and payment tables. This enables me to give a patient a to-the-penny accurate treatment plan.

**What do you like best about Curve Dental?**

Charting is so easy to read and add. By simply clicking a tooth the associated xray or IOP will show up. The updated billing system has made it easier to add payments and adjustments.

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

When a payment is added it makes the invoice appear as a new invoice was added instead of just adding the payment or showing a simple break down of the ledger. Applying a large payment you still have to add the payment to each individual invoice it wont  simply take it off of balance due.

This product is a great asset to our practice out of all I have used over the years I would recommend it.

Curve has he best customer service. They are quick to respond to questions, and take your suggestions and comments seriously and implement changes. Also being cloud based! love being able to access it from anywhere if needed as a manager.

I really don't have many complaints if any. Probably just that there is so much we don't know about it, and have to find time to watch he community videos.. which is on us.

Worth it. Its extremely user friendly. If there is something you can't figure out, someone is available to walk you through it.

Cloud based! Working from home is more and more important. We have off site staff members able to access our scheduling for recare all the time. Its so helpful.

Curve is relatively easy to explain to new trainees. I like that it tracks recare from the sidekick and that you can access tidbits of information without having to navigate away from the page that you're on.

Reports. They are not as customizable as they should be and even when you do customize them they pull information that wasn't asked for or incorrectly. The new billing module is atrocious and wastes so much more time than before.

**Recommendations to others considering Curve Dental:**

Be prepared for them to change things that didn't need changing and ignore issues that do need changing. Be prepared for them to tell you on support calls that there's nothing they can do but put you "on the roadmap".

**What do you like best about Curve Dental?**

1-The layout is easy to use and navigate thru, especially if you're tech savvy. One of my front desk who was away for a few months and missed all of the trainings was able to pick it up within an hour, it's like using a website. The use of tags really makes scheduling appointments, filtering patient notes & correspondence easier.

2-confirmation of appointments is great with their 2 way texting and email within their software website.

3-Visually the layout is esthetically pleasing & doesn't look like a program written in 1995, no more searching for functions in multiple drop down menus & pixelated icons. Everything you need is a click or two away, you just have to know where to look.

4-If you don't know where to look for a feature or function, all the tutorials are 2 clicks away in Curve Community. If it's not there, then Curve doesn't offer it.

5-Full paperless Integration for the front and back office is possible with this software, with an asterisk  (see my dislikes for more explanation). Integration of electronic claims, e-prescriptions, text, or mail confirmations and real time communication, credit card processing & their online portal for filling out forms & online payments is possible. This allows you to run a paperless practice & can really ease multiple steps for both sides of your practice.

6-I feel like cost comparison vs the other cloud softwares available is very competitive. If you're looking for a software to run your practice in 2021 that isn't overly complicated but still offers all the paperless options available, then this software is for you.

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

1-My biggest problem  came with integrating credit card readers to work with the system & post payments directly into your ledger. I have 2 practices that I work out of with my associates, the finances for each office separate. Through Curve I purchased 2 card units and set up 2 merchant accounts thru their partner Bluefin.
Unfortunately for Curve, it isn't possible to enter merchant accounts/APIs & corresponding bank account for each of my offices. Even though I have a separate login for each office, only one API & bank account can be entered. It makes no sense.

2-Additionally, setting up your card reader isn't USB or phone line plug and play. It requires an decent length of Ethernet cable that stretches all the way to your internet router or gateway & a lot of back and forth with Curve IT to set up. In a world where apps like Square can use an audio headphone jack to process cards, something is wrong with this. Don't even get me started on trying to use a wireless card reader, I spent a month with IT support trying to get the settings correct and ended up giving up & going the wired route.
After 4 months of dedicating a dental assistant full time to CALLING CURVE's IT to try and enter both APIs in, my office stopped trying to force something that clearly isn't going to work.
OVERALL: Making credit card service easier for the offices to setup (something plug and play) a major issue that Curve needs to fix. 

3-if credit card processing isn't available for a multi office practice, then for me, the online portal loses 50% of its features. The portal has 4 big functions: fill out online forms, view upcoming appointments, view your statement & pay your bill. If my patients cannot pay on the portal, why would I have them setup a login to view their statement? That's 1/2 the functionality of the portal gone b/c of the multi office credit card processing error on their part.

4-imaging could definitely be better. I had Kodak and Dexis sensors that took clear images on their native software, but thru a TWAIN driver the images are blurry (because both image softwares auto refine the xrays). Curve doesn't offer an imaging suite, so no auto refinement. Some refinement was possible thru settings, but no where near what Kodak or PW had. 

5-My Digidoc intraoral cameras  still do not work with Curves TWAIN drivers & we've called multiple times.  Occasionally a printer/scanner/fax will lose connectivity with Curves software and we'll call IT again.

6-Curve doesn't offer full functionality on a tablet or iPhone/Android, all you can do is view your schedule or lookup a patient's phone #. Other cloud based software offers either an app or their website is optimized for mobile viewing.

7-the sales reps for Curve insist that the all the functions & features of the software can be used fully by a multi office practice. True, almost all of the features Based on my experience, it still needs some refinement overall.

I needed a software that I could run both my practices out of for myself and my associates, and this solves it (to a degree). Some of the features are still lacking, but full integration will take time and patience.

This practice management software is intuitive, beautifully laid out to maximize efficiency and function, and helps us get our job done much more easily and pleasantly. Not only does the software enhance our business, time management and clinical scheduling, but notes and interstaff communication are all provided and work well. We could hardly be happier with the way Curve has contributed to our success.

There is not much to dislike! Any complaints or requests are swiftly handled by the softwares issue ticketing system.

Scheduling is critical to our practice, and Curve helps us to do it well, with block booking and color coded scheduling slots that make it very intuitive and easier.

Almost everything! Reporting is awful and there is no way to run one report that shows all data (production and collections) on the same report, the billing, front desk, and treatment planning modules of the software are also very clunky, outdated, and do not have efficient methods, thus cause a lot of wasted time, paper, and a a hinderance to productivity.

The one thing that it allowed us to do was to operate two locations while sharing patient records easily between the two locations - that said, again reporting and other features are lacking, negating the benefits by far.

Curve's simple interface is easy to navigate which saves times and increases user efficiency.

Curve's Imaging module is sometimes unreliable.  There's no option to create custom imaging mounts, nor is there any way to add images to an existing mount.  There's also no way to auto-rotate images in a standard series of X-rays, so every time X-rays are taken, someone has to flip some images manually which could easily be corrected by the software developers.  I'm not sure why that feature is missing.

Curve allows our practice to be paperless and serverless which saves physical space and maximizes the portability and convenience of accessing patient records.

I like the ease of taking X-rays and mounting them, as well as the quick notes feature. I like that I can get to curve from home, so when an emergency patient calls, I can help them without having to go into the office.

I would like to see a feature to add notes next to patient's phone numbers.

The ability to customize so much come with a lot of clicks. Where traditional software is more intuitive, it also doesn't allow you to customize so it's a give and take situation.

How you can put together a treatment plan without having to enter each code individually in. You can just click on teeth in charting to create  a plan.

Web-based software that you can access anywhere. Very easy to navigate and modify to your own office's preferences. Customer service is always very helpful and is able to find resolutions or create a fix.

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

Curve does allow multiple members from the same household to have the same email on file. Curve does not allow you to set a default provider for a specific procedure code. Curve does not make it easy to estimate a procedure code that is downgraded by insurance.

Curve Hero is user friendly, safe and the fact that it's web based you can log in from anywhere; you're not stuck at the office in order to use this software. The Curve Hero Team is so nice to work with; it's easy to reach support if you need them.

There really isn't anything I don't like.  The Curve Hero team is constantly working to improve features; they listen to their clients needs and try to work with them in creating or improving features within the software to get the results their clients are looking for.

**What problems is Curve Dental solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A huge benefit is that any of our doctors or dental team can log in and work from home or wherever we may be and need to do work. Doctors get emergency calls when they are  not in the office and they can log in to get their patient's information and help them. Curve Hero is so user friendly; you can customize schedules, charting is nice, easy to see and read. You can view your patient's health history in different areas it's right at your finger tips. This software makes sense and is user friendly; your patient's information is easily accessible .

Another benefit is; if one of our clinicians needs off they can access their schedule to block that day off or if it's in an emergency situation they can contact their patients to reschedule.

We no longer have to back up our system; Curve Hero does it for us! Our information is safe with them!

**What do you like best about Curve Dental?**

It's so pretty to look at!  I love how easy the interface is for my team to learn.  My team that has used Eaglesoft or Dentrix transitioned very quickly.  My team members with no prior dental software experience did even better.  My very favorite is the ease I have connecting with customer support.  They are so kind to help us navigate any issue or concern we encounter.  Also, because it is cloud-based, I can access it anywhere.  I know which patient is calling, their needs at their last visit, and I I can more easily understand what treatment they will need when I take an emergency call because I have access to their entire chart from my home.

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

Some of the modules do not function as user-friendly as the primary billing and charting modules.  We had challenges initially setting up our templates and found the Form Templates module challenging to use and customize.  The Letters Templates are also not up to the same caliber as the rest of Curve.  The letters module will tell you if a word is spelled wrong but does not offer spell check suggestions like the Charting module.  We also have issues when bridging to Dexis.  We did not like the functioning of Curve Capture, so we continue to use Dexis.  Something in the bridging throws off Dexis every month or so, and we have to call to get things reset.

**Recommendations to others considering Curve Dental:**

Dental software is an investment.  The one you choose will affect your practice daily.   In my opinion, Curve is worth every penny because of its usability and functionality.  The team is continually reevaluating the program and implementing changes to keep up with a modern dental practice.

The main reason we chose Curve was that we needed a software program that we could use in two different office locations.  Curve seemed the most complete.

Ease of navigation of the system between charting and billing, the charting graphics, the Sidekick.

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

The billing module is very busy and difficult to read. Billing statements are too long if you include a breakdown of line information for each invoice, but not informative enough for patients if you don't include  theinformation. I wish that you could hide lines on the invoices when there are errors. Claims should close automatically when payments are posted so you don't have to manually close them. 
The capability of having multiple colors for block bookings would be extremely helpful. 
Showing a breakdown of what primary and secondary insurance estimates would be extremely helfpul on treatment plans, rather than lumping the estimate together. It would also be great if secondary insurance claims were automatically created when the primary payment was posted.

We switched dental software to Curve after using Dentrix for 20+ years, so a lot of our issues are just growing pains and learning curves. The benefit of having one database for all of our location is very beneficial for viewing patient notes, charting and Xrays.

I love the portability of having a web-based system but even more important is the ease of the learning curve for this system.  It was so easy to learn and Curve Community has every option to suit your particular style of learning.  Their customer service is always on point and quick to address any concerns!

I really cannot think of any part of Curve that I dislike.  I have worked with a variety of dental software and Curve really gets an "A" in all departments.

As office manager, I love that I can work outside the office when I need to.  This factor creates more efficiency, and tasks are not left undone.

The collection process has been streamlined.  We are able to collect at time of service.  The real-time insurance benefits information is invaluable.  I wish the radiographs were clearer; it is difficult to diagnose interproximal decay in some cases.

One thing that I would change on Curve would be the ability to have a note template and be able to have automatic prompts for the things you want to fill in and change instead of typing them in.  For example, currently I have note templates saved but I need to go through them and backspace out the parts I need to change (tooth number, filling surfaces, amount of local anesthetic, etc) . It would be nice if after you selected which note template you would be using that it would prompt you to change these.

Not customizable. As a specialist, there are things I need in a software program that generalists may not need. Being able to customize drop downs and other aspects would be a nice thing to have.  Imaging quality through curve needs improved immediately. This is the only reason I would not recommend the system.

The cloud base aspect is great when needing to access patient records while outside of the office. The other day, I was at the hospital and needed radiographs. It was nice to be able to pull up the system remotely and look at the chart.

The ease of learning with Curve is what we like best! And that they train you completely with a training module before turning you loose in your live database. And that you can always easily get answers to your questions or issues without sitting on hold for eternity. Curve community is a great resource and filing tickets for something you can't find makes problem solving efficient! I love being paperless and that there is pretty much one way to do each thing that you're trying to do - so that everyone in the office does it the same way. The odontogram and perio charts are very user friendly. We really love everything about it!

**What do you dislike about Curve Dental?**

Although we love being paperless, sometimes I'd like to be able to print out a form for ease when we are busy and have older patients. I don't always have the time necessary to stop and help them use the kiosk. Also -  if I add the wrong insurance to a patient's account, I'd like to be able to delete it. 
But those are really my only complaints!!

**Recommendations to others considering Curve Dental:**

Give it a good hard look. Watch the demos. Talk to offices that are using it so that you can see what any daily challenges might be. You're investing a ton of money on software - you want to choose the right one. We would choose Curve again if given a choice of any software out there

PAPER! we love being paperless! and anything we need to use paper for can be scanned in to the patient's record. We scan EOBs and all communcations regarding each patient
