BOARD as Management information System combining it's BI capabilities with CPM **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Yves T. | Division Controller, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2018 **What do you like best about Board?** - Very flexible software that can be setup in a couple of days - User can setup it's own reports either in BOARD directly or in the Excel/Powerpoint environment - The smaller size of the vendor allows a good relationship with consultants, technicians and marketing experts from the headquarter - Good working interface to SAP, CRM MS Dynamics and Cognos TM1 - Very logical setup of the database structure **What do you dislike about Board?** - The Microsoft Office addin especially is very powerful tool, on the other hand especially the Excel addin causes some crashes ad support some limited amounts of layouts - When purchasing the software as a BI tool it has to be considered the need of a datamart. **What problems is Board solving and how is that benefiting you?** Interface to many different external data sources. We use it for our whole product sales, orders, stocks and margin analysis on consolidated level (25 reporting units). ### 49. Using a unique software a user can manage data, calulate figures and create all kind of reports. Any user can create his own application without an hard programming training. **What do you dislike about Board?** Board is not really integrated with other system in terms of exporting data: txt file is the main solution. No problem importing data with ODBC protocol available for all data source but is not the same for exporting a big amount of data. Every release should be 100% compatible wth older version and should only contains improvements. **Recommendations to others considering Board:** Board is a very user fliendly and flexible application to create any kind of application to cover business needs. As consultant we prefre to work close to the customer to have a prefect collaboration, implementation and tranferknowledge in order to make customer able to maintein the application. Every Board sultion is costumize to client needs, process and way to work because the goal is to help user in their day by day activities. **What problems is Board solving and how is that benefiting you?** Board is used fully cross all over the process. As consultant firm we manage a lot of different project such as Corporate Performance Management, Actual Closing Process, Planning and Forecasting Process, Business Intelligence, Production Process, Sales & Operational Planning ... BOARD suites all organizations and is a tool to fully integrate your planning process with a whole host of financial and business processes. BOARD transforms businesses. **What do you dislike about Board?** Given the huge flexibility, it might mean the continuous need of a BOARD consultant which could strains budgets. Something which should be considered with smaller clients **What problems is Board solving and how is that benefiting you?** All financial planning processes including long term plans, budgeting, forecasting and hopefully reporting.
