**What do you like best about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

I love how easy Active Network is to use! The new attendance portal has made sign-in and sign-out a breeze and I do not need to take time to create attendance rosters or sign-in sheets.

I also love how simple it is to run a report for basically anything. If you want to know who has photo waivers, or what campers have allergies... it can be done in minutes!

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

I would like there to be a few updates to the attendance portal:
1) Add the name and date of the session at the top of the attendance portal (where you click the checkmark and the parents sign). We have two sessions running at the same time, and because the name is not on the top it gets confusing. 

2) If a camper has a note on their file..... add a dot or star or something to indicate that the staff should read the note. Right now, there is no way to see that there is a note on their file.

3) add the function to be able to add a note while in the attendance portal. Right now, they need to login to the camper's account to add a note and it is cumbersome. There are times where parents want to tell us something at drop off but we do not have quick access to add a note right then. 

4) Access to add authorized pick-ups in that attendance portal for the same reason as #3

Lastly, we absolutely do not approve of the third party registration insurance that is an option to sell. We had two families purchase this, and found out that they could not be refunded because it exceeded the 14 days in the fine print. That is ridiculous that the $26 insurance only covers 14 days, when the parents are registering for summer camp in the winter! At the end of the day, we refunded the families our of our personal revenue.... and we asked that the option to sell the insurance was removed from our site.

DO NOT allow the registration insurance to be sold to your customers. 

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It used to take me a day to create sign-in sheets, but now I can just take attendance in real-time on an ipad! 

Emailing the parents/guardians is so simple and easy!

**What do you like best about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

The interface is easy to setup and use. Our team was up and running quickly and we have not had any problems with Active at all.  I love that Active handles all payments and distributes them on a specific rotation.  Some of the other programs that we looked at didn't pay until after event dates were over.  That was a huge deterrent when we were first starting.  Since people started registering for sessions months in advance, it gave us a cash flow to start up with.  In addition, their costs based on our projections, were much lower than any other companies that we looked at.  We continued with them this year and will continue to do so in years to come because we were so pleased with the product and it's offerings.  As our program grows and evolves, the Active format will continue to work.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

Nothing! If it's not built in, we can customize reports and setups to make them work best for us.  Every time that we have had a problem, it was easily fixed and usually our error to begin with.

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Setup is a breeze.  We are able to customize where we have needed to which addresses our needs.  Being able to offer payment plans is great, especially for customers that are registering for multiple seasons/sessions at the same time.

**What do you like best about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

The product was actually good, it worked well.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

Customer service and communication was horrible. And they charged me $1500 for Breach of contract because my website designer and I loaded another another shopping cart and other apps for layout etc...Active said they audited me, didn't call me or contact me, and sent a $1500 bill for breach. I had to call them, they never contacted me, I tried to call/email for 2 weeks...no response. Then they call me back with an attitude, call me a liar and say I was in Breach. I've been in software consulting and sales for 20+ years, this is not how you handle issues or discrepancies. I went with another product because I couldn't trust Active's support, or policies any longer. It was unfortunate.

**Recommendations to others considering ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager:**

I realized none. I signed up, but building out my company from scratch we got bogged down in insurance and permitting....it took quite a bit longer than we expected, and Active was in place the entire time. With the industry, Mountain Guiding...without insurance and permits we were unable to actually sell due to the liability associated with being a mountain guiding service. Along the way my website person told me to look at other shopping carts in my website in order to get other ideas, and see how to manage the process well. Active saw this, and sent me a bill for breach of contract with zero communication between the last communication 7 months before and the time this took place, something along the line of seeing multiple shopping carts...wasn't quite sure, they wouldn't give me a solid answer, and the rep called me a liar... Prior to this conversation, I called, emailed for 2 weeks...and no one would contact me, I finally got a call....and I told them I was uncomfortable moving forward because of the lack of communication throughout the situation, and that what happens next time an audit is done and they feel I'm in breach without even talking to me directly yet again. Answer has pretty much been pay up, and go away. Cost: $1500 for absolutely no return, lousy communication. I was forced to implement the other system I had in place in a short period of time because insurance and permits were finally coming in, and I couldn’t wait for this to be resolved properly…My real job is in the software industry, and we would never work with our clients in this manner, it's horrible practice. I have done many much more extensive audits than this type in the past and took care of our clients to make sure everyone was happy. The punitive nature of this contract and interaction is not normal in the software industry....buyer beware, if you even flinch….they won’t even budge, acknowledge their own mistakes, and just point at the line item on the contract. Recommendation, go with another company because they will find you at fault in situations, then not be willing to bend when you try to negotiate or come to an agreement. I will not use Active for anything in my company or the guiding industry again. I can't trust them to work with me.

**What do you like best about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

ACTIVE has completely changed the way we interact with our participants and has streamlined the registration process for registrations and staff alike. Since we implemented ACTIVE, we have saved hundreds of staff hours with this easy to use, intuitive system, and with each new upgrade and release, the system only gets better! I would never hesitate to recommend ACTIVE to colleagues. 

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

The inability to print individual receipts for customers. I hope that this is a feature that may be released in the future.

Do it. You will not regret it.

ACTIVE's easy reporting features makes annual audits fast and easy. Automatic Payment Plan options have increased our overall registration, and the Parent Accounts make it simply for parents to log in and change their registration or add payments on their own time when our office is closed.

**What do you like best about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

The reports system is especially helpful. ACTIVE makes it easy to pull up a family's information, make changes, gather data, engage with customers, and track registrations. Also good are options for each classroom. Active has thought of everything. You can cap a class, make a waiting list, add and remove information as needed. It's completely malleable but never overwhelming. 

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

Customers are sometimes thrown off by the cart system. Additionally, it's easy for customers to enter incorrect information, such as birthdays and contact info, which causes problems down the line. On the back end, registering a camper from a waiting list can be tedious. 

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are making sure children are enrolled in the right classes at the right site. We are engaging with parents and making sure their kids have a wonderful experience at our camps.

The accessibility of help.  I have all reports needed saved and don’t have to recreate each year.  There was a learning curve but now is easy.  

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

Something really needs to be done about the texting options.  All are not using email like they used to and the need for text is very important.  Text should be sent to primary and secondary along with participant.  I also work with TTCA where the participants are adults and I cannot send texts to them at all.  

**Recommendations to others considering ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager:**

Active is a great way to organize your camp or convention?  It is easy to learn with the availability of help by phone.  

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The entire camp database and organization is used with Active.  It is a great way to collect money and organize along with creating reports all in the same program.

Gathers all information into one place.  Access to records and information on campers. Once they created the allocation report, now fairly easy to account for the variety of payments processed through Active.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

Basically designed to register individuals.  Does not work seamlessly for family camps and family registrations.  Does not prefill duplicated information (like addresses and phone numbers that are already in the system).

**Recommendations to others considering ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager:**

Realize that there is a significant cost to it.  And seems to be moving more toward registering people for individual events like a race or activity.  Creating registration forms can also be kind of convoluted.

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

People like registering online and paying with a card.  Aligns with our participants expectations.  Makes it easier to collect payments. Minimizes data entry by office staff.

The integration of management for events and participants as well as the ease of communication with them.

Individual user management is relatively ungainly.  Although the product as a whole is great, when attempting to maintain a single participant it can be difficult.

Straight forward platform. Ability to run reports/edit information. Making groups, taking payments, gathering information.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

Constraints as far as moving forward some our annual fees which made us lose money. On the consumer side I have had several people complain about the added Active insurance they accidently signed up for and I have had several people who had issues with registering because their account information was not easy to access.

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had to solve the registration fee situation. Lost about $3,000 and didn't feel good about retroactively collecting.

Benefits are mainly the information that is gathered and the ability to run reports. Moving from year to year is pretty easy now that I have done it and understand what information doesn't transfer

I run a small not-for-profit summer program for the Arts since 1981. Since I was a school principal, I had little time to manage the tasks of enrollment, billing, email communications, and tracking over several seasons. Active Camps has helped automate a great deal of my work. While I still do a lot of hands on personal communications, the system has helped facilitate these tasks much more easily.

For now, too many features. I supposed that is not a bad thing.

I have been able to track campers and their families for the past four years and a year before using their Thriva system. So far so good.

We have used ACTIVE for quite a few years now and love how versatile it is. We can manipulate the registrations form, data and records in a way that best suits our needs. It's user friendly but when help is needed, their online customer support is fabulous.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

Our registrations and programming are pretty basic, so I know we don't begin to scratch the surface of what ACTIVE can do. For what we need to accomplish, I have no major dislikes. The only thing I wish it was more intuitive at was merging duplicate records. 

**Recommendations to others considering ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager:**

Great camp manager for our smaller programs. But, has great potential for larger organizations as well. 

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to manage all of our summer registration needs through ACTIVE. From basic camps which host 40 kids to our community-wide program for over 300 kids. We can easily group them based on our preferred criteria and prepare record sheets for leaders in no time.

We love that we are billed for the use of the program and not on a monthly basis.  The program is easy to use and Active was great at training us when we first started.  The system is easy to use on both our end and for our clients.  All the information is stored digitally and is safe including all our waivers etc.

Not having test sheets or skill sheets.  Inability to offer price for individual days or weeks and have it work with attendance tracking

It handles payment and is easy to register people over the phone.

There's no easy way to view sessions in a calendar view from mobile and the URL is long (hard to link to for print materials). 

**Recommendations to others considering ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager:**

Make the app have the ability to look at and favorite a location/venue so it would be easier for our visitors to browse just our programs and we could direct people there. Now, they have to scroll through location filters which pull in other programs nearby. 

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is much easy to have visitors be able to register themselves so we don't have to take 30 phone calls a day to register. It handles payments prior to all the programs and we can go back and easily look up waivers and parent contacts.

Définitely a solid, reliable product with great customer service. Checks all mandatory requirements, and goes beyond.

Allows solid registration process. 

Much better than Thriva with ability to show waiting list as soon as all spots have been put in cart, not only after payment which was the case before.

Active works well for our smaller summer camp (under 500 registrations per season). Active's per-registration fee seems best for us at our level of use, versus a high buy-in cost or high annual maintenance fee required by some other registration services. Their support system is helpful and responsive. Active is a large company so they've learned to manage customer needs.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

There are other providers that are dedicated to working exclusively with camps and retreat centers. Their products may be more refined specifically for the camp market.

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Active helped us move from receiving registrations exclusively by mail, to now receiving them exclusively on line. It has been a great transition that works well for our constituents.

We have used Camp and Class Manager for 3 years with great success.  The system is easy to learn and is user friendly for customers.  The staff are very helpful and they are making updates to add extra bells and whistles to a system that is already excellent

There is nothing I dislike about the system

We didn't have any problems to solve as we have used an online system for almost 10 years now. The benefits of a an online system are numerous.  You can easily create rosters, you can communicate with your customers in a professional manner and best of all the online payment system is seamless.

We have used ACTIVEWorks for our camp registration for the last 2 years with no issues.   It is easy to setup, easy to manipulate and super easy for parents to use.

I'm struggling to come up with a down side to the product - we have been very happy.

The program runs itself - when camps are full, parents move to a wait list.   It takes out some administrative legwork.

Our camp's transition to CCM was very timely, catching people just when the possibility of registration by a cellphone-friendly interface became mandatory. It was also a great fit because we can design and implement so much of the registration process ourselves, and turn to ActiveNetwork for assistance.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

We have had difficulty understanding the email function, and this year realized that in terms of one registration criterion (gender), we are outliers. But I appreciate in both cases the readiness of ActiveNetwork to listen to us and then act on our dilemma. They really do act as "silent partners" of our camp.

**Recommendations to others considering ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager:**

It certainly is useful having someone responsible who has experience in setting up simple websites (e.g., with WordPress). That enables you to understand the way each intended function has to be broken down into a series of options for the user.

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CCM drastically simplifies and accelerates the process for two-thirds of our campers. Because so many of our campers rely on financial assistance, which requires an additional application procedure, or do not have credit cards, CCM can't do the whole job as yet.

The most helpful feature of Active's Class and Camps Manager is the ability to copy a season year over year.

I dislike the save feature for email templates. I have lost a few created emails.

Get Camp and Class Manager and get on with your camps. These programs allow everyone involved in our camps to spend more time with the students.

We have solved the technology gap that our antiquated website registration was presenting. Taking the customer off-site keeps them focused on camp.

I like the convenience of having the paperwork done before camp starts.  And I like the collection of money and not having to write receipts.

My favorite thing about using ACTIVE is the ability parents have to register whenever they want! They could wake up at 2:00am and register their child wearing pjs if they wanted to! With our old registration system, parents had to physically talk to an employee. So after hour registrations weren't a possiblity. The parents would end up showing up to our camp the day of trying to see if they could register their child. Sometimes we were sold out. So they brought their child with a packed lunch and ready to attend camp to only be denied.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

While learning the system for our summer camp, some of the quides were hard to understand. Mostly because it was just text, maybe add a visual like a screenshot for the steps. Or add a "?" link to some of the fields that would describe what that field ment. For example, discounts, coupons, etc.

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to have kids register without one of our employees needing to be involved. Also, we used to use paper registration forms, and had to manually enter them into our camp system. Sometimes it would take hours out or our day to enter registration forms. ACTIVE has made out lives so much easier!!

**What do you like best about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

This is a big upgrade from our old camp management system. It is fairly intuitive and easy to train staff on. I like that it has a waitlist feature and that you can use them for camps/classes as well as events. The financial reports are very detailed and easy to understand. Customer support is easy to contact and generally helpful.

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

There have been a few bugs that I worry haven't been resolved - including people being charged but not showing up as registered. If you want phone support, you have to pay extra, and not all the emails you send clients actually show up as sent in the client email history.

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved the problem of having poor financial reporting - out last system was very poor and the reports in Active are excellent. We have saved a ton of staff time with this system, just with waitlists and camp features.

I love the ease of the system. i can make changes, and do set ups on my own without the help of an account manager or customer service. Very empowering. I have worked with other systems in the past and they have been too complicated.

I dislike the financial functions I have a hard time making and finding the reports I need. This could be user error, but I would like to be able to look up the check numbers in a more comprehensive way, and track payments to our company from active in a different way.

Int he surveys that you send, please include summer camps as something a business could do.  It's never in the dropdown menu.

This makes signing up for our summer camps easy, straightforward, and has definitely increased enrollment. The easier it is to sign up, the more likely someone will do it. I have worked with other site in the past and they have made it hard to save your info, or there is terrible mobile user abilities. This is much faster and friendlier.

ACTIVE camps is very well sculpted - from all perspectives: Participant, Parent, Admin, Finance & Instructor it is easy to configure, and yet highly capable. It has made an enormous difference at BCT. We've reduced the amount of staff time in the registration process greatly, and received very positive feedback from our patrons who use the product. 
WE also love the ability to use the emailing features, and to schedule reminders (and more!) to help to better connect with our constituents. 

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

I wish there was a pre-configured integrations - with Salesforce. Having the ability to integrate with our existing CRM platform would allow us to operate with many fewer staff hours to handle what is currently a manual process.

Do a thorough investigation of hte market place. You will not find a better product on the market. You just won't.

At this point, there are no major dislikes with the software. Sometimes I wish I customize the look of the user side, but that's about it.

Talk with their customer service. Ask all the questions you can think of. I'd be surprised if Active software didn't meet your needs. Best of all, the price is right.

Major problem resolved was people having to take a lot of time out of their day to register over the phone prior to us using Active. Now, when registration opens, classes fill within minutes because people are able to register with their phones. Also, data tracking is much easier. All around communication is better.

Camp and Class Manager is very easy to set up and use, both for my camp families and for my administrative needs. It allows us to be almost completely paper free and families can see right away which programs are available to them.

The built in reports are really nice, but I still have to export my data through a spreadsheet program and then into a desktop database in order to print the custom reports my counselors need.

It's a great program if you want to provide online registration to your customers.

This software gives us much better control over registration restrictions and allows our camp families to register for camp whenever it is most convenient for them. We've been able to spend more time getting the camp program ready and less time dealing with mountains of paper applications.

What I like best is the amount of power that Active Network has in their reporting feature. I have searched and tried out other registration software systems and nothing compares to the endless ability Active Network has in their reporting features.

One thing I wish we could change would be to remove the pay by credit card option at the time of check-out. We bill our participants through our private club and this would help control who is registering to members only.

The business problems that I resolved in using Active is that data is easily collected, stored, and accessible year after year. The registration process is quick and simple for my customers.

There are lots of nuances that Active can handle - the flexibility is great for weird schedules and set-ups. We also enjoy being able to customize the terms and conditions for each "program" we offer. Our campus directors like the options for coupon codes to help with any enrollment promotions we have going on. Even our PE teacher can use it to set up supplemental clinics. 

**What do you dislike about ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager?**

The more you use its flexibility, the more confusing your workflow becomes. It would be great if something guided you through the sign up process. We also wish the system integrated with our website. Instead the link on our website drives customers to the Active site - which negatively impacts our SEO... aka bad for marketing and Google searches. 

**What problems is ACTIVEWorks Camp & Class Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organization of enrollment has been great! The reporting feature helps keep records in order and easily assimilates with our use of the ProCare system. We're realizing, too, that there is a lot of functionality we've yet to tap into yet.

I love the fact that it allows for quick and easy registration of certain program applications, it can create reports based on the number of clients registered for particular programs.

It doesn't connect to our ProCare system in terms of speaking to it and sharing the parents' and children's information for easy processing and monitoring accounts.

Easy to view numbers and check in on registrations

Sending emails to registrants and there is no AP to use on my phone

Set up and configuration of programs is difficult. Also somewhat limited. Great for checking numbers and registrations.

Taking registrations and listing our programs. I also use it to send rosters to my instructors.
