The character limit has been posing massive challenges--we are a very diverse, multi-cultural university, and we have instructors with long names that cannot be listed in the system without causing EMS to crash. The result is that students register for a class without full knowledge of who will be teaching, and these instructors cannot utilize their experience to get future teaching jobs as our evaluations are connected to Banner/EMS.
