Impressively, our first data sync took only minutes to implement, a process that would typically require hours or even days with the assistance of a data engineer. We load and process a ton of data from Salefsorce and other sources into our BI/DW for processing. It allows our business to move at high speed and continue to be fully data focussed and data driven. It's UI/UX is very simple and intuitive so there's no steep learning curve like often is the case with similar tools. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** I haven't yet come across anything I dislike. Everything I've wanted to achieve with Census, I've been able to do so far. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's allowing me to nimbly support all areas of the business: Product, Support, Sales and Marketing by making the data they need available in the tools they use. As a fast growing, scale-up business we're constantly evolving and so these needs are ever changing. We were able accelerate adoption because of its user-friendly interface and step by step guidelines to set up connectors. We were able to connect 30+ data sources and not have to worry about schema drifts and other data engineering tasks. Also, we used Fivetran’s sdk to build custom connectors for complex integration. Customer support helped us a lot when we encountered issues. They would reply within 12 hours and offer detail feedback which helped us resolve issues quickly. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** The main concern we have with Fivetran is the pricing model. It can increase rapidly as they volume of the data increases and also the compute costs will increase when the sync frequency increases. Fivetran gives a 2-week free trial to estimate costs before you turn on the connector, but it is hard to get an additional budget mid fiscal year. Also, you will need to use Fivetran with another tool like dbt to handle complex transformations. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Fivetran solved the challenge of replicating data from various sources to our Snowflake Data Warehouse. Before using Fivetran my team would have to spend a lot of time maintaining custom data ingestions or using other ETL tools that were not optimized for data ingestion. ### 9. Also, it has error detection capabilities that I haven't seen in other solutions. It also seems to have a very robust connection engines, since I seldomly experienced downtimes. That way, you don't have to necessarily keep an eye on it at all times and can be logged out of the admin platform for days. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** Census' principal downside is its price, since it can be quite steep for medium-to-small companies. It also lacks some on-the-fly transformations functionality, at least on the tier I was registered to. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Used Census to ingest Hubspot data to different cloud platforms, and then feed it back to Hubspot in some capacity. ### 23. The number of SaaS tools it connects to is still somewhat limited. They don't have the leave the CRM or Zendesk to do lookups in our data warehouse. Solving this "pivot" problem saves the hours switching contexts and writing queries. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** Any time you're pushing data back to operational systems there are risks because you're playing with production. We needed to establish some organizational discipline to test on sandboxes and single row updates. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Census removed the need for people to switch contexts to check data in other systems. It saved us seats in platforms where people just needed access to data, and reduced the load of ad-hoc lookups on our data warehouse ### 36. Fivetran allowed me to spin up pipelines immediately for both simple and complex sources (e.g. Facebook). It is significantly cheaper to maintain these pipelines than hiring more full time engineers! Implementing Fivetran was fast, easy and exceptionally cost effective. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** Fivetran worked well for all of our data sources except Google Analytics. This is likely not an issue for most users but because we have a tremendous amount of data from this source, Fivetran's plug and play delta loads just weren't the right solution. Aside from that one source, Fivetran has met all of our needs. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Fivetran allows us to ingest data from multiple external sources without having to build custom code, monitor loads and manage errors. In fact, it is a completely no-code solution that requires minimal set up, even for complex data sources. ### 38. We had to the cost planning and it was very easy for us to understand our growth, our usage and find the best annual value for the contract. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** UI is great but we saw so many discrepencies between our actual usage and what fivetran showed. IT took us a while for us to make them agree to that. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have to pull our data from postgres and these are realtime transactions so volume is huge. On top of that we needed WAL replication.
