# Best Embedded Business Intelligence Software

 *By [Bijou Barry](https://research.g2.com/insights/author/bijou-barry)*

Embedded business intelligence software provides analytics capabilities within the context of a business application. Software developers can use embedded business intelligence tools to quickly incorporate self-service analytics capabilities into business applications. Additionally, some [business intelligence platforms](https://www.g2.com/categories/business-intelligence-platforms) and [self-service business intelligence software](https://www.g2.com/categories/self-service-business-intelligence) provide the ability to embed dashboards into applications used internally by employees, to allow for easier and more convenient analysis. The tools differ in terms of the degree of embeddability and the extent to which end users can customize the analytics and dashboards.

Embedded BI products provide developers with a software development kit for adding analytics functionality to a given application, making it easy to house the analytics inside a proprietary product. While these tools may be sold to enterprise companies to be deployed in internal systems, they are by and large sold to other software companies.

Embedded analytics are intended to be used by the average business user within an application, therefore they commonly offer self-service analysis functionality. However, if the product cannot be used as a standalone self-service business intelligence tool in addition to its embedding capability, it only qualifies for the Embedded Business Intelligence category.

To qualify for inclusion in the Embedded Business Intelligence category, a product must:

- Be able to be sold as an OEM product to other software development companies to be embedded within their application
- Be used by developers to embed analytics capabilities inside a business application
- Consume data from any source
- Allow users to transform data into a useful and relatable model embedded within a business application
- Create reports and visualizations with business utility embedded within a business application

### Astrato

𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲-𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱, 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗲, 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗿𝘆, 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀, 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲, 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁, 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗦𝗤𝗟, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗼. Astrato's zero-copy architecture connects to the warehouse via a live-query engine, which means every dashboard, report, and workflow runs against the source data in real time — without extracts, data movement, or cached copies. Security policies such as row-level access controls and PII masking are inherited directly from the warehouse, reducing governance overhead for IT and data teams. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀: • 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗜. A no-code interface with 70+ out-of-the-box chart types allows business users to explore data, build dashboards, and generate reports without SQL. A shared semantic layer ensures governed, reusable metric definitions across all users and content. No-code Actions let designers chain clicks, filters, and navigation into guided flows — so end users get an app-like experience, not a blank dashboard. • 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿-𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀. Fully white-labeled dashboards and workflows can be embedded into external products, portals, CRMs, ERPs, and intranet tools. Three embedding modes are supported — single object, grouped visuals, or full interactive workbooks — delivered via iframe with mobile-responsive layouts. Multi-tenant isolation is enforced at both warehouse and application level via row-level filters, group permissions, and SSO pass-through. Built-in usage telemetry tracks engagement, exploration patterns, and drop-off. • 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀. Writeback capabilities let users push data back into the warehouse from any dashboard, app, or embedded view — supporting planning, forecasting, approvals, and field updates. No-code forms with validation, conditional logic, and multi-step flows can be built without engineering. Action buttons can trigger stored procedures, external functions, Salesforce updates, Slack posts, and emails, so analytics drive downstream action. 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲: • 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Live, branded reports generated from the warehouse and delivered automatically in PDF, Excel, PowerPoint, or image format to email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or SharePoint. Teams can upload their own Excel or PowerPoint templates and have them populated with live data at run-time. Per-recipient row-level security ensures governed distribution, and reports can be archived to S3, Google Drive, or SharePoint for audit and compliance. • 𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗜 & 𝗕𝗜 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁. Contextual AI Insights generate summaries that regenerate as users filter and drill. BI Copilot accelerates build time by generating chart titles, business-friendly field labels, and complex measures like YoY growth or retention from plain-language input. Custom Report lets end users ask questions in natural language and get visualizations back. Every AI output is grounded in the semantic layer. Bring your own LLM — Snowflake Cortex, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Claude by Anthropic, or Google Gemini — or use the default provider. With Snowflake Cortex, queries execute inside the warehouse and data never leaves. Admins control AI features via independent per-capability toggles. • 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Dashboards can be embedded with full white-label control over colours, fonts, logos, layout, and domain. Authentication is handled via SSO pass-through, OAuth, or token-based access. SCIM and APIs support automated user provisioning at scale. • 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹. Role-based access control across view, edit, design, export, and admin. Workbook lifecycle governance with draft, version, publish workflows and change tracking. Row-level security inherited from the warehouse or configured per semantic layer. • 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲-𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 certified, HIPAA compliant, GDPR-ready. Snowflake Technology Partner and Google Cloud Ready – BigQuery. Astrato is used by data teams, product teams, and analytics leaders across SaaS companies, data businesses, agencies, and enterprises. Pricing is structured to scale with embedded use cases involving large numbers of external users.

 ### 21. [Toucan](https://www.g2.com/products/toucan/reviews)
Toucan is an AI-embedded analytics platform designed to assist independent software vendors (ISVs) and SaaS companies in integrating advanced analytics features directly into their products, eliminating the need for building these capabilities from the ground up. This platform is tailored specifically for customer-facing applications, meaning that the end users are the clients of these companies rather than internal analysts. By enabling product and operations teams to configure and deploy analytics features independently, Toucan streamlines the development process and reduces reliance on data engineering resources. The target audience for Toucan primarily includes ISVs and SaaS companies across various industries, such as fintech, HR tech, and marketing technology. These organizations often seek to enhance their product offerings with sophisticated analytics capabilities that provide value to their users. With Toucan, product teams can quickly implement features that allow end users to interact with data in meaningful ways. This is particularly beneficial for companies looking to differentiate themselves in competitive markets by offering robust analytics without the lengthy development cycles typically associated with such features. Toucan's key capabilities include conversational AI analytics, which empowers end users to pose questions in natural language and receive instant data visualizations. This feature is anchored in a governed semantic layer, ensuring that the insights provided are consistent and reliable. Additionally, the platform offers automatic dashboard generation through AI, allowing users to customize layouts, colors, and metrics without requiring technical expertise. The white-label, multi-tenant embedding options ensure that analytics seamlessly integrate into existing products, creating a native experience for users. Security and compliance are paramount in today's data-driven landscape, and Toucan addresses these concerns with row-level security and granular permissions. This ensures that each end user only accesses their specific data, making it suitable for regulated industries where data privacy is critical. Furthermore, Toucan supports connections to modern data infrastructures, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and AWS Redshift, and offers both SaaS and self-hosted deployment options to meet various organizational needs. The platform's no-code builder is a standout feature, enabling product and operations teams to create, edit, and publish dashboards without any coding knowledge. This capability significantly reduces dashboard development time—by up to two-thirds compared to traditional in-house builds—allowing ISVs to launch reporting modules in days instead of months. By embedding analytics as a premium feature, organizations can also create new revenue streams, enhancing their overall product value while minimizing additional development overhead. With over 350 clients already leveraging its capabilities, Toucan is positioned as a powerful solution for companies looking to enhance their analytics offerings.
