Amazon QuickSight makes it straightforward to build interactive dashboards and enable self-service analytics without having to manage BI infrastructure. I especially like SPICE (Super-fast, Parallel, In-memory Calculation Engine), which delivers excellent dashboard performance even with large datasets, along with capabilities such as ML Insights, anomaly detection, forecasting, and natural language querying through QuickSight Q.
The UI feels intuitive for creating visualisations with drag-and-drop, while still supporting advanced calculated fields and custom visuals when you need more control. It also integrates natively with AWS data services, so analysts can connect directly to cloud data sources with minimal setup. For organisations already using AWS, it can provide a strong ROI by removing the overhead of managing BI servers and offering pay-per-session pricing for readers. Complex dashboard layouts and calculated fields can become difficult to manage as reports grow larger. Some advanced visualisation and formatting capabilities are still less flexible than long-established BI platforms like Tableau or Power BI. Performance also depends on whether datasets are imported into SPICE or queried directly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
