Lightspeed now has a plugin that directs customers to your physical location by allowing google display ads to see what UPC's you have in stock.

Changing sales prices in Lightspeed retail and having regular prices show on our Lightspeed website is a clunky process.

Use the Lightspeed retail google ads plug-in, it's worth switching to Lightspeed just for that feature.

That there is always live support.  And it is fairly easy to follow the breadcrumbs through the program.

Inventory control was my most significant area needing improvement.  Bringing in Lightspeed Retail has remedied that and allowed expansion.

Lightspeed makes it easy to connect our inventory to sell at our retail location. Their support is 24/7, so if we need help or have a question, it's easy to get an answer by calling, using the chat or finding a video for helpful tips.

Sometimes the computer doesn't connect correctly with the printer or the Zebra printer.

Everything about Lightspeed POS is what a new or working retail store needs not only to handle the inventory and sales but also the taxes and email addresses for all its customers. I am a retailer and a manufacturer of my brand of guitars . The product is cost-effective in this day and age, and the tutorials are fantastic. Online help is quick and effective in meeting my needs .

Nothing, but a bit of patience and understanding of how to go from retail to syncing with the E-com of the product

The smooth omnichannel experience that lightspeed retail and lightspeed ecom provides.  The excellent customer service provided 24/7.  The integration with other apps is a great help.

We wish that lightspeed would have a more customizable section where we could address and pinpoint the small things that could apply to our company specifically.

We used to have a third party connecting our software with our ecom, which made it very glitchy and it would sometimes take too long to update any changes. It is very fast and easy now.

Lightspeeed is a cloud based point of sale, that also seemlessly hosts my ecommerce site, and works with quickbooks, to streamline 3 parts of the business.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I wish they had more one on one employee onboarding/training. And I wish that the ecom pictures autofitted, because sometimes they just don't look correct once uploaded.

The last system I had was not cloud based, and it was easy to lose customers information. And I can log in from any device to make a change, help an employee while I'm not at the shop, or most importantly, look up a customer's information, and get a problem resolved even after hours.

At first I'm not so sure about an application. It was new to me. I'm one of the first customer of Lightspeed. Now I have 3 restaurants with Lightspeed. One of them is just open name ŌMA sushi. Lightspeed is very easy to use ans the customer service is awesome.
From David -Royal sushi- Maison Thaï- ŌMA sushi .

Just the fact that I have to speak English when I'm calling customer service at my night time zone but it's not a big deal. I always have the best support

The initial setup is tough, but they walk you thru it. Customer service is top notch.  Once up and running, it is fantastic.  I love the cloud-based nature and the variety of reporting available.

Nothing. I am stuck with hardware. The company does not care to rectify problem that occurred as a result of their poor education and lack of responding in a timely fashion.

Education misinformed which led to repetitious work and extra work. Equipment not send in order to process sales yet was being billed.

None- They requested that I spend more money to extend and then they would consider giving me back time since I did not get the equipment to make sales.

I wish my customers could order/use gift cards online, but I called Lightspeed and we were able to come up with a solution until they accommodate that.

The only issue I have with Lightspeed is the gift card feature for our online customers, but we came up with a solution. In return, I am able to talk to my customers more than what I normally would have.

My biggest problem was inventory.  Lightspeed has made that so simple that I don't even worry about it.  I don't even have to close my business to do the inventory so it saves me any down time.

The simple fact that I always get a live person every time I call for help and usually my issue is resolved immediately. If not, they are helpful in getting it solved.

I haven't used it enough to have dislikes, my store is not extrm=emely busy.

I can sell my jewelry on e.Com, I don't have to have a physical location. This solution provides a significant realized savings as compared to renting and operating out of a retail space.

It has a service log. The service log makes it easy to keep track of work orders and  product used for customers. It works well with customer accounts and keeps track of the work orders on a calendar.,

The omnichannel doesn't really work for us. I wish it had a better integration with the retail. Also, I find it hard to load the correct prices and costs for products from the uploaded catelogs.

It's not really working for us. We couldn't get it to work with Quickbooks payments so we could invoice and the ecommerce with the retail didn't crossover well.

The existing POS software is still in its infancy.  There are so many flaws and weaknesses that it is not a good fit for busy businesses.  They do not use accepted accounting practices when costing products, and some features do not work.

Their answer to problems is that it can be done outside the system and manually added to Lightspeed item by item.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

We thought it would have the features they say it does. We thought it wouldn't be this horrible to work with. We thought our staff would be able to use it's "user-friendly" interface, but it is so user-friendly it doesn't work as a POS. It's like someone gutted the program and is releasing a new feature every 6 months, so maybe in 10 years it'll be a full service POS.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Nothing works like they say it does. If you use UPC codes, you can't import anything. If you use SKUs you have to deal with a laggy look up system that doesn't work (or make stickers for every product so you can scan your SKUs, which we have over 5,000 products). When you ask customer service for help, the best they can do is direct you to help articles that don't address the issue. I don't think anyone who works for Vend has ever actually used the program themselves. They constantly go offline and they act like their servers are never down until you ask them and then they say they're working on the problem. The system doesn't work when offline like they say it does, it loses sales data (i.e. the local data is always overwritten by their servers, so we often have inventory issues, sales inconsistencies, and frustrated employees!). Be prepared to clear your site data daily...it's annoying but one of the only things that fixed some of this (so instead of a regular issue, it's an irregular issue that only happens if you forgot to clear the site data, good luck having employees do that daily!).

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

I recommend you keep looking...there's got to be something better than broken! There has got to be a better POS than this one. This one lags, goes offline regularly and loses sales, cannot handle scanning UPC and uploading UPC, so you have to pick between scanning (UPC) and uploading (SKU). There is only one product number field. It's very reliant on Excel to get from Vend to anything else. Reports are raw data, often inconsistent data showing on the screen (lag), so employees spend time trying to reconcile something that already matches!

We have seen no benefit to using Vend. We regret using it this whole time and it has only become a hole that we cannot dig ourselves out of now. Our system is so difficult we can't even expand the business until we find a replacement!

The customer service. They are available 24/7, always patient, and we solve the issue every time. Whether it is with the platform itself, a technical issue, customer-related, ordering hardware, etc. Additionally, they consistently check in and alert us to new developments and things that would benefit our company. They work WITH you for your business' success.

Integrating vendor catalogs is tedious and time-consuming.

Creating reports - it is not extremely user-friendly and I always need to reach out to a rep to help me, which can be extremely time consuming.

I love how everything integrates. The process of inventorying and the POS system are so easy to use. Any new employee should not have any issues learning this software.

The only thing I dislike is the eCommerce side of the software. I wish it were more robust so that it was more valuable to more companies.

Can't even think of one thing  honestly.

Everything - they went radio silence when I was opening my small business and did not support me for MONTHS after contacting them several times. Horrible experience - I strong suggest NOT going with this company. I am losing almost $1000 for thier mistakes. I regret ever thinking this was a reputable company.

Do not reccomend to anyone considering a POS system

Absolutely nothing. There's too many people working with them with no connection to one another - I've wasted hours of my time and money trying to get a refund. A disgrace! If you're a small business please reconsider them as an option for you. They pride themselves on thier excellent customer service which is why I went with them in thier first place and they radio silenced me and my business for MoNtHS.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Lightspeed makes it easy for us to complete transactions and use the data to our benefit. We have chosen to pair the POS module with Lightspeed eCommerce, Lightspeed Accounting and Lightspeed Analytics. The best thing about these components is that they talk to each other automatically making it easy to take care of bookkeeping, accept online orders and utilize sales data for forecasting and tracking. The fact that there's an open source API means that if you have an idea for a custom program, any developer can help make it a reality. Customer service is always fantastic and if they don't have an answer for your issue, it will be followed up on in short order. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, there are still a few workarounds that we are using. However, Lightspeed, unlike many software companies, actually listens to suggestions from their clients. I've been a part of 2 beta tests for new features that have proven to be very beneficial. There is a suggestions website that allows you to offer ideas to improve the software and collaborate with other users for solutions.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Take the time to prepare your data before migrating it over to Lightspeed. It will make the import much cleaner and easier to implement expeditiously. If using the accounting feature (highly recommended) with Quickbooks or any other accounting software, make sure your bookkeeper or accountant is involved so that they can easily navigate the information that is being downloaded.

The software we used previously was local server based and was not readily accessible remotely. Not to mention- we'd be in BIG trouble if anything happened to the server network. Now we can easily process transactions via any internet connected device at tradeshows and other settings outside the shop. Processes are automated and we can choose which reports are sent to us at pre-determined frequencies using the Analytics add-on. The amount of time and labor it has saved us was well worth the investment.

Vend is integrated with Shopify and Marsello in my company, most things were functioning well but when we needed their support the most its non-existent, here's why. 

On 31st March Vend released a product update, which no one in my company had known about prior to the fact. This update then broke integration with Marsello and we therefore could not allow our loyal customers to redeem points, thereby losing sales. We are still not successful in getting in touch after two days of attempting to do so

The ease of use for my staff is great. We also love the ability to add purchase orders and receive them with ease. Our old system did not have this. I also like that it has great inventory management. We just did a recent inventory count and that went so much easier than in years past. Also, the reporting is overall very good. It gives you a good insight into your data. Love that it is cloud-based so we can access it anywhere.

The Ecom side could use a lot of work. I would love to see a better way to do discounts and markdowns. The way it is set up now is very complicated and makes it a lot harder for us retailers to use. For the retail side, I would love to see a green light button on both the email receipt and email purchase order side. Sometimes I click send email but I can't remember if I actually hit send. A Green/red light would be helpful. Lastly, I would love to see a feature that incorporates a discount on items when receiving a purchase order. Currently, there is a box to input the % discount of $ off but it does not get incorporated into the product cost.

The evolution of Lightspeed (LS) has been a great success story.  The leadership has the vision to "skate to where the puck will be" rather than try and beat everyone today on features.  The product roadmap should provide owners / users the confidence they can run a profitable business by utilizing the tools today and continue to grow on the platform for tomorrow.

The retail product combines point of sale and ecommerce syncing and deprecating inventory in both locations, across multiple store imputes.  This is no small task.  The downside of the product is the restriction of the web templates (at least this use to be the shortcoming). They have made great advancements here working to accommodate each vertical with specific templates to match the demand.  If I had to criticize this would be the only area which is not enough to stop someone from onboarding with this platform.

Recommendation to others: My suggestion is to use an implementation partner

Immediate access to real time inventory.  Sync to Salesforce CRM to expand the marketing efforts and allow my call team to see what is happening in my retail locations.  Tracking of revenue, and other KPIs are easy with the dashboard functionality.  Onboarding of temp workers is easy since the software looks great and is quick to pick up.

Very primitive inventory and PO handling, especially when ti comes to serial numbers.  Secure holes right and left. 

Lightspeed support "accidentally" changed my password on Wednesday before black Friday and said nobody could fix until Monday.  (I am the owner).

This week we launched e-commerce and put social media posts all over creation about our new online store, and Lightspeed accidentally CLOSED our online store without any notification.   IN THE MIDDLE OF CORONAVIRUS.    They admitted it was inadvertent and they are now working to fix it, but this is HUGE.

The company simply doesn't understand how their careless actions affect the livelihood of their customers.   If you consider Lightspeed, consider ON SITE only - where they have no access to change your account without your knowledge or permission.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

If you do'n't use any serialized products, and you handle issues with inventory counts the same day as the counts, you may be fine.  Just know that the security is low and user rights are not very granular.   If you have products with serial numbers, keep looking for another solution.  If you use their e-commerce, be aware that someone "accidentally" closed our store in the middle of coronavirus, when online is our only option.   They cannot explain why.

Work orders are also very primitive.   They don't keep the history.  They don't allow you to see which technician is working on a system.  THey don't have "history" like products.

DO NOT USE NON-INVENTORY PARTS at all!!    Especially if you integrate with accounting software.   The non-inventory parts have no history, and they sometimes acquite a COGS and sometimes not.   You are not told this until you figure it out and show the Lightspeed support personnel.  By the way, if a COGS is assigned to a non-inventory part, that amount is deducted from your inventory balance - even though it was not added to your inventory when you bought the item.   (Not that you could follow the $ trail anyway - the PO history disappears for non-inventory parts).  I advise to not use them under any circumstances.

They changed my account logon on Wednesday prior to Black Friday and also could not explain why (I figured it out for them).   But the managers who could verify that I was the owner had left for Thanksgiving and could not get me back in until Monday after.  Today, in the middle of coronavirus when online is the only sales you can hope for, they "turned off" my store completely.   I've been on a support call for 1:16 while writing this, and they don't know why someone turned off the store.    Their employees simply don't understand how their careless actions affect real businesses.

Their demo is great but the reality of using it is much different.

Benefits - it has a POS whereas the legacy accounting package the previous owner did not
Problems - inventory management, security risks and breaches, careless actions or Lightspeed support peresonnel on our production site

We are able to precisely track inventory at all times.  The reporting menu is also extensive, which is super helpful.

There support mechanism is second to none. If you look your question up in help, there will be documentation to answer your question, and chances are there is a video that walks you step by step through the solution.

If you feel like you want to get live help, there chat mechanism is one of the best, better yet, the support people on the chat are the most patient and knowledgeable support people in the business.

Simply the best.

Vend is a great choice for retailers that want flexibility when it comes to numerous aspects such as inventory control, reporting and POS. There are a bunch of areas where I think Lightspeed exceeds other systems.  We especially appreciate inventory management and the integration with catalogs from distributors in our industry.  Also, there technical support is excellent.

Lightspeed has functions you may not even consider when looking for a new POS.  It will save more time than you know.  We did a formal RFP process and compared Lightspeed to six other finalists. Lightspeed scored the highest during the process, and continues to impress us three years later.

Lightspeed immediately saved us 20-30 per week with the stock inventory management system and ability to auto load new items from distributor or vendor catalogs.  We have cut down on the time it takes to process returns to vendors. We can adjust pricing for sales easily - so sale or discount pricing expires. Special Orders are easy - and we receive notifications  to contact customers.
