Zeck creates both time efficiency and qualitative improvement of board dynamics. Basically, after living through miserable and outdated board meetings, as both operators and board directors, we decided to completely reimagine the entire board meeting process. Zeck is co-founded by Edward Norton, an award-winning actor, filmmaker, and entrepreneur, and by Robert and Jeffrey Wolfe, the founders of Moosejaw (acquired by Walmart) and CrowdRise (acquired by GoFundMe). James Zubok, an incredibly experienced software company operator and private equity investor, is a founding partner. You likely know Edward Norton from his day job. The Customer Success Team I have to give a huge shoutout to the Customer Success Team. First of all, I love that name—because it’s exactly what they deliver. “Success” is the goal, and “team” is how they operate. They’re responsive, collaborative, and genuinely invested in helping you solve whatever issue you’re facing, big or small. There’s no ego, just a shared commitment to making sure your board has the best possible experience. And honestly, calling us “customers” doesn’t even feel accurate. From day one, we’ve felt like true partners, working together toward the same goal: easy, constructive, and engaging board interactions. In just a few short months of partnering with Zeck, we’ve had more meaningful interactions and success stories than we did in years with our old platform. This includes a search function, home page folder categorization for sub-folders. Zeck helped us provide a great deal of information but in a friendly, easy to digest manner that is well organized. The template format saves us so much time and we can sync up excel sheets to update each month. This enables our meetings to be more strategic and get right to the "meat" of the discussion. I also am committed to utilizing the Board as an extension of the team - they are 'us' not 'them.' My senior team was getting the mood and content right but we didn't have the right tool to support us. We were still stuck using slides or ppt decks and the relatively one-way format of those mediums. It has allowed for more engagement and dialogue while still providing the necessary content and information. The ability to focus in on key concepts and information drives conversation and less regurgitation of materials individuals can read. Zeck allows materials to be updated real time and comments and questions to be posed before a meeting starts. There are features and feedback I have provided as a heavy user that would enhance an already powerful platform. Last year I organized over 300 meetings. It's transformed the meetings entirely. Instead of getting caught up in formatting and spin, we just plug in our content, share it, and go. Since we can track which board members have reviewed the content and where they've spent their time, we know where the conversation will be. The ability to have questions submitted in advance and answer them in line means that we don't spend the first hour covering little clarifications. Zeck reduced our preparation time from 8-12 hours to just 2-3 hours. We plan to continue to use this for our various Board and committee meetings, as well as to create an easy-to-access digital Board resource archive for our Bylaws, charters, committee lists, directory, and etc. I can't recommend Zeck enough—it has been a lifesaver. And like most companies, I had been using PowerPoint for every meeting. We have been using Zeck for two years now, and the entire Board Meeting process has become so much smoother and more productive for everyone involved. One of the most valuable features is the ability to specify user-level privileges and we can now invite more team members to contribute since we can restrict access to designated sections for specific people. This ensures that contributors will not be able to access sensitive materials, it builds ownership across the organization and reduces manager workload. In addition, since every user logs in to Zeck to access content, we can see which Board Members are engaged prior to the meeting, and what content is drawing the most attention.
