Review Summary

Generated using AI from real user reviews
Users consistently praise Xcode for its seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, which simplifies the development process for iOS and macOS applications. The all-in-one environment, featuring tools like the simulator and debugging capabilities, enhances productivity and streamlines workflows. However, many note that it can be resource-intensive, leading to slow performance on larger projects.

"Xcode has come a long way. Great for building iOS apps"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Xcode has come a long way. I really like how you can now connect to the Apple developer account directly from it. Previously this used to be a big issue as you had to do it separately. I am also in love with the Playground! So easy to quickly test some code without having to compile and run. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Every time Apple releases a new update, you have to download 12-13 GB worth of updates. It seems like the whole lot gets updated. It would be reak nice if we could download the new updates without having to download them all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All in one IDE for your development projects - Xcode!"
What do you like best about Xcode?

1. GUI - is the selling point of this platform. In general, IDEs have tons and tons of things to offer and wrapping up all in such a manner that the user do not struggle to find the options + can find the right thing at right moment, Xcode makes all that very simple.

2. Native MACOS or iOS development is best suited with XCode. It comes with powerful emulators which help you code for any device in the industry right from the screen of your laptop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

1. This software is native to Apple devices only which is the biggest con. Almost any language can be leveraged with Xcode but it only works with Apple and no Windows user can install/ use this software on Windows/ Linux machines, which I think is not a great idea. "Xcode: A default IDE for macOS and iOS, but is less than stellar for everything else"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Xcode is the default and best macOS and iOS IDE. It is deeply integrated into the operating system, helps to automate tasks such as code signing (that are mandatory for the platform), and makes building/deploying macOS and iOS apps easier than using the extensive command line utilities with options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Xcode is not a great IDE. Its autocomplete features are ok (but not exemplary), its project management features are confusing, it uses an excessive amount of disk space storing APIs, the updates are very slow. It is also a closed source product, meaning the writing deeply embedded plugins is impossible. Its development for C++, Java, and basically any language other than swift continues to get worse and worse. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Advance Development"
What do you like best about Xcode?

It is the best IDE to develop an apple application with multi-level support and documentation for developers to use it an advanced level to make excellent applications Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

It takes soo much ram and CPU usage for heavy applications, and it's occupied some space for temp files also. . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"best development tool for apple products."
What do you like best about Xcode?

Its integrated app development feature and the best feature that I've seen is code reviewers comment directly on the code segment that I've never seen in any IDE as of now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Same as normal IDE but little with tweaked features, we cant call it outstanding, as it's specifically focused on ios and mac development. the interface could have been made a little handier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Official IDE for iOS and macOS development"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Xcode is the best IDE and tool for iOS and macOS development available for free for any Mac user. Even though it has a somewhat steep learning curve for beginners, Apple provides free educational content for learning iOS/macOS development in Xcode.

Xcode includes many device simulators, making it very easy to test apps on different devices and operating systems. The included debugger is also helpful during the development phase. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

- Building can take a long time.

- Takes a lot of space.

- Only available for Mac.

- It's hard to personalize like other popular IDEs today (for example, no custom keyboard shortcuts). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Pro tool that every coder is in love with!!"
What do you like best about Xcode?

It is the most fantastic innovation which is made for the coders to build the code.

I have been using Xcode to build ios and android apps, and Xcode makes it very simple for me to write, debug my code and get the deployment files like Apks and ios files. The best thing is that this is a complete package for development which is having a simulator. In the simulator, you can select all the mobile types and see how the view of your developed code will be.

Most a fantastic experience till now, and it's perfection for mac users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

I cannot think of any dislike which I feel for Xcode. It's a necessity for coders, and every coder loves this tool.

They can improve on the speed of building the code and opening the simulator Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"XCode needs to make it easier for Hybrid Development to done"
What do you like best about Xcode?

I like the easier integration with the iOS Simulators, though it does work with all hardware architecture types (sometimes with arm64) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Deployment Steps to the APP Store for non -Swift code like Ionic, Flutter is not very clear and can be a rather strenuous step for new users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
