What do you like best about Workday Talent Management?

Workday has lot of functionalities and features addressing the requirements of the enterprise.

It eliminated the need to different tools to manager different requirements like, Talent management, Payroll management, Hiring, Employee benefits and so.

Tool has great Graphical user interface.

Easy to manage. Comes as SAAS platform, which eliminates constant upgrade or maintenance hassle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Talent Management?

The tool is very costly for one. The tool doesn't allow any customizations but at least it should allow personalization to tune the tool to company requirements.

Navigation could be better. The back option doesn't work as intended.

Hiring process is not transparent.

What do you like best about Workday Talent Management?

Workday offers to write the goals for the individual employees for the year.

While writing the goal, it also has the functionality to set the priority.

It also helps to store the employee information, including their skills.

When an employee refers someone, it also stores the same information.

It helps to find the co-worker information like their work location, contact details, etc.

"Powerful API, but a bit clunky"
What do you like best about Workday Talent Management?

The APIs provided by Workday provide all of the tools required to automate and integrate with local systems in real-time. The structure of these services can be a bit clunky - while it looks like they are working on REST implementations, the bulk of the work still needs to be done using SOAP APIs. That said, with a little bit of effort, there is very little this hosted solution provides that cannot be handled through their APIs, making powerful automation and custom solutions possible. What do you dislike about Workday Talent Management?

I mentioned the SOAP services - I actually don't automatically see this as a downside. While they have gone out of vogue in favor of REST APIs, I've always found SOAP straightforward to work with. However, there are a couple of downsides. First off, support for SOAP is slowly going away in modern platforms (.Net Core, for example, is missing some key elements for full support of WS-Security). Second, the services offered by Workday are ENORMOUS. As a result, some automated code gen tools (notably Visual Studio's "Add Service Reference" function) can get overwhelmed by the size. I found that after adding certain Workday WSDLs in Visual Studio, the IDE slowed and eventually crashed when trying to look at the generated code.

Finally, while there is extensive documentation for these services, it is often not very useful. A field might be labeled as needing to be a valid id type, but give no indication as to what the possible valid id types are. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Workday Talent Management?

I like that I can see my reviews (as well as manager if the setting alllows) to track my goals and improvements throughout the year/quarter. All of the reviews are in one place and makes them easily comparable. I also like that you can customize your dashboard based on what your companies need is. There is also a "give feedback feature" where you can post positive experiences with coworkers on their profile for the company to recognize. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday Talent Management?

The down side is not being able to make your feedback private to certain individuals, it always is seen by manager, hiring manager, director, etc where I think sometimes the feedback is beneficial if only that person knows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
