"Flexible and very capable"

What do you like best?

The many mapping rules and customizable transformation scripts. All the logging and auditing of the processes being run.

What do you dislike?

I'm using a customized mapping done by the team from StarfishETL. So, it was not part of the initial contract to train me on all its functionalities. The connector to Quickbooks often fails, but I can hardly say it's a problem with StarfishETL. It's because we connect another software with quickbooks and when this other piece of software tries to sync, it blocks StarfishETL connector, somehow.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are integrating Quickbooks customer's information with the CRM called bpm'online. Even though I'm using an already customized solution, I can easily see how we could customize the ETL steps to improve on syncing and integrate other systems as well. I'm thinking of using it to integrate the CRM with another software.

"Great tool for data migration"

What do you like best?

Starfish has a simple enough user interface that would be intuitive for anyone with database management skills. I like that you can pick the two platforms you want to transfer date to and from and then configure the table linking.

What do you dislike?

Like with any data migration, there are particularities when it comes to transferring data in one type to another system that isn't compatible. Starfish does a good job of allowing you to transform, but I wish it had more built-in transformation capabilities

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were migrating from one CRM to another, and Starfish really helped reduce the time to go live in the new system.

"Starfish ETL Review"

What do you like best?

The user interface is very easy to understand. They have plenty of data connection types already defined. Including popular web services and ERP packages. Doesn't take a lot of effort to install and setup. It will work on a basic Windows Server with IIS. Updating the software is also a breeze with their update tool. They have very detailed error reporting when the jobs are running. Keeps history of jobs ran with summary details.

What do you dislike?

It is a bit buggy and slow when dealing with web services. It allows you to move forward before its ready. This causes the backend configuration files to get our of sync and you have to discard your work and start over sometimes. Error reporting is not easily exported into text to be read.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I have been able to witness many non-programmer users be able to pick up learn Starfish and make ETL maps. This program is very easy to use and you really don't have to be a rocket science to use it like with Scribe or others.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Moving data from one system to another without having to write code. It allows it to be repeatable and updated-able when new data elements arise. You can focus on the actual movement of data instead of the underlying code to just make a data connection.

"Starfish ETL allows you to connect anything to anything."

What do you like best?

Starfish has an intuitive user interface which makes it easy to set up and maintain for multiple configurations. They've also got a fantastic support team which is a differentiator for us.

What do you dislike?

There's not much to dislike about Starfish but if you're looking for a library of pre-built point to point solutions you may be better served looking at something different.

Check it out. Great value for the cost. Great support staff, really wants you to succeed with their product.

We have helped clients connect proprietary applications to NetSuite as well as SugarCRM and other ERP applications like Sage 100. Transferring data to and from either application's database.

"Easy yet powerful tool lets you move data into Salesforce!"

What do you like best?

Pre-built mappings for most major CRM products! This makes it super simple to migrate from say ACT! into Salesforce. The queries are pre-built, but easy to change to suit your needs. The tool is easy to learn too.

What do you dislike?

Very little to dislike. I'd say get some training or some pro serv help for the setup. But once you understand how the tool operates it's very straight forward.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

A great tool. Worth purchasing. Comes from a great company that really works with you to make it work!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Migrating from MSFT CRM to Salesforce - it made the migration only take days instead of weeks and weeks. More recently I migrated from ACT! and it only took hours instead of days. Great tool!

"CRM Migration with Ease"

What do you like best?

StarfishETL is easy to use, intuitive. It makes the migration process much easier than alternatives I've used.

What do you dislike?

Well, migrating to a new CRM is NOT fun, so just the process itself is a pain. But...that's really not Starfish's fault.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Do your homework. There are a lot of tools out there. Make sure you find a tool that does what you need, and has a track record. Also, don't overpay for features you don't need. StarfishETL ticked all the right boxes for us.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I suppose the biggest problem being solved is data integrity during migration. It's imperative that the entire organization has supreme confidence that the data in the new system (CRM, in this case) is 100% correct.

"Amazing Product"

What do you like best?

I used StarfishETL for converting from a on-premises CRM to a cloud based CRM. This tool is powerful and fast. I cannot image ever using any other tool for migrating or integrating data.

What do you dislike?

There is so much to this tool, and sometimes the documentation is sketchy. However the Starfish support team far makes up for the lack of documentation in certain areas.

I also wish it could fail on just a field and not an entire row.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Conversion tables are a must, and are easy to use.

Thanks so much for your review. We love hearing both the good and bad from our customers so we can constantly improve. I just wanted to speak to your comment on the failing of the entire row. I asked our developers about this and they said that the reason the whole row fails is because if you have one bad value in the record, and you still import the entire row, the partially imported data won't be correct, so therefore the whole thing needs to be reprocessed. I could see how that could get frustrating, and I hope you didn't have to deal with it too often during your move, but it's all in the name of good data! Anyway, I just wanted to respond to your concerns. Thanks for choosing us, and for your honest review.

"Amazing solution for those in need of a change!"

What do you like best?

Like it states, it is a very fast solution. I demo'ed this product for a collage senior project.

What do you dislike?

Didn't run a full demo on this but from what we can see it seemed to work extremely well. I feel I would need more time with it to really get a better feel for any weaknesses.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

System could be a bit more intuitive to the users need. Have to think that you will eventually run into end users who are not as computer savvy. But overall it seemed like it did a great job for what we needed it for. It is certainly an interesting solution specifically for what we trying to use it for.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We had to pick a business, talk to them about their pain points and try and find solutions for them. The biggest problem that they had was they were not a fan of their existing CRM setup and wanted to get away from it. Their concern was how difficult it would be to accurately get data over to a new solution. That is where this came in. Worked great, fast and very high % of data retention and accuracy!

"Starfish ETL for Data migration "

What do you like best?

I've used Starfish for a few smaller data migration into SugarCRM. It makes it easy to get data from systems like goldmine or act that do not have a Rest API. It makes it easy to point and click for minor transformations and to have defined rules for imports.

A little easier to learn than scribe but probably a little slower.

What do you dislike?

Pre-built functions and pre-built connectors to get standard data from other systems.

"Good solution for migrations,"

What do you like best?

Nice solution especially for migration needs. It is good if you'll find it in the start of the whole process. The usage of the product is pretty simple. All could be done using GUI.

What do you dislike?

It could be expensive in terms of licensing. Some companies could not handle it but it worth its price when you should do migrations.

"Awesome tool for Data Mapping and bulk data migration."

What do you like best?

Ability to map data from different sources, transform it using VBScript and C#. Perform Bulk Data Migration operations. The log of data migration is also very helpful and easy to resue.

What do you dislike?

Nothing much, one suggestion for improvement would be memory optimization so that the tool is able to handle huge amounts of data.

"Useful Product!"

What do you like best?

Prebuilt migration maps.

The easy way you can map data from system to another

I like that it supports VBScript and C# for programmability of mapping

What do you dislike?

Its a little slow to load and run. Sometimes IIS runs out of memory

"PERFECT SOLUTION! LOOK NO FURTHER!"

What do you like best?

Very responsive and attentive to our needs! We Went another vendor initially since they were a bit cheaper and claimed to be experts at migration from MS CRM to Salesforce. That was not the case and after 1 month of trial and error (mostly error), they said they did not have the expertise needed to do the migration! I then went back to Starfish and they promptly accommodated me into their schedule and within a few weeks we had our migration completed without a glitch! Simply Amazing!

Trust me, don't bother looking elsewhere! Hire these guys and get the job done asap without wasting more time so that you can start making sales sooner than later with your new CRM!

Honestly, nothing! They hit the mark on everything we requested.

"GoldMine to SFDC Migration - Starfish is the way to go"

What do you like best?

Our consultant, Opfocus found Starfish ETL for us and we wish we found them 4 weeks earlier. They handled out GM migration to SFDC within 3 days and without any problems.

What do you dislike?

it was a little on the expensive side for services, however, it was well worth it in the end.

Do not try to migrate from Goldmine yourself... EVER!!!

We were trying to migrate from GoldMine to Salesforce.com on our own and realized that getting the data out of the back end of GM was extremely cumbersome and time consuming.

"Starfish made the transition from SalesLogix to SalesForce painless"

What do you like best?

We were able to easily map and then migrate data from SalesLogix to SalesForce very quickly. It also easily allowed us to migrate the correct creation dates of all objects so we could continue reporting seamlessly through the migration.

What do you dislike?

Nothing. We had a very positive experience with Starfish and I honestly don't know how it could have worked out better for us.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Initially we were planning on doing the data migration without using a third party tool. We quickly realized the issues / difficulties that would arise migrating the data ourselves. Starfish resolved all of these issues and made the migration much faster and easier that I ever imagined it would be. This project would not have been nearly as successful without Starfish.

"Any software product is only as good as its support."

What do you like best?

I like the versatility of the product, but its the level of support that make it great. We use this product as a migration tool from many different data sources. It has proven to be far more versatile and productive than any other method of migration we have used so far.

What do you dislike?

My computer experience goes back to the Mainframe and DOS days so more keyboard shortcuts would be nice.

We provide a cloud based CRM solution and support for the Financial Management industry. We migrate our new clients data from their current CRM. We use Starfish to create and use automated maps to migrate data from different CRM sources to our system. We often need to correct and reconfigure the original data to work more effectively for the clients needs. We can realize these custom needs without having to write a new program to do it or do it manually. This is a big time saver.

"Starfish ETL has significantly reduced the complexity of data migrations for our clients"

What do you like best?

Starfish ETL pre-built products maps significantly reduce data migration effort. The product enables point-and-click configurations, while maintaining the ability to perform complex data transformations. The product has substantially improved our data migration offerings - what may have taken days in the past, can now be accomplished in hours. We have used this product in projects ranging from very large corporate data consolidation to small CRM start-ups where contact data is imported from Excel spreadsheets. Starfish ETL provides the flexibility needed to do both - very cost effectively. The product has reduced our consulting costs, while increasing client satisfaction.

What do you dislike?

It would be great for Starfish ETL to be offered in a SaaS model. The product does have interfaces that in some cases require Starfish to be co-located with the data source. However, for web service access to data sources, Starfish ETL could very well be web based. Starfish ETL installation and set up is straightforward nonetheless.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The professional services group of Starfish ETL is excellent. For our first data migration project, we contracted the group for a small number of hours to start the engagement. This jump started the project and saved considerable time - very well worth the investment. We found it useful to save projects and refer back to working examples of scripts and data transformations - there is much engagement-to-engagement commonality. We can now complete most simple migrations in 2-3 hours, having gained experience with the product.

"Starfish"

What do you like best?

We have an extremely customized database that works great for our business but maintaining the data has been challenging. Starfish has significantly improved our staff's productivity by allowing us to import several layers of records that are extremely time consuming to create manually. We also have built several Starfish jobs that allows our users to update various fields in our database, these fields contain data that changes annually. The ability to globally update this data has decreased data entry errors and allowed our staff to focus on higher priorities.

What do you dislike?

Overall the positives outweigh the negatives.

Overall a fantastic tool that can be customized to meet your needs. Very user friendly and wise investment

"Great Product and Excellent Customer Support"

What do you like best?

The customer support that we received from the Starfish support team was phenomenal. They are dedicated and do everything they can to make sure your migration is successful. Our migration to Salesforce involved moving over 3 million records - and the Starfish team was there whenever we needed them. Additionally, they (and a shout out to Mike Barry at Starfish here!) periodically checked in on us to make sure everything was working well and if we needed anything.

What do you dislike?

Not much to dislike, but one recommendation would be to enhance error reporting so users can quickly hone in on individual records that are causing errors during migration.

"Good user interface on the product and good support by the starfish team"

What do you like best?

Compared to Scribe it has a much cleaner interface. And so far we have been able to do everything in Starfish that we used to do in Scribe, but with less effort.

What do you dislike?

There are some minor developing suggestions that I have thought of but as the product keeps getting updates they become fewer by the day.

"Data integration made easy."

What do you like best?

The number of connectors were off the charts. Building the maps between the two different databases (one being a Client Server app, and the other being 'in the cloud' was easier than i thought it would be. Very powerful code based options.

What do you dislike?

Having to restart the service when making a schedule change.

"Great First Expereince"

What do you like best?

Using Starfish for the first time I found it very easy to move data from one CRM to another directly without the need to export from one and then import into the other. Also the mapping and transform capabilities were very powerful and easy to use. What I found unique and outstanding is Starfish's Support. They were super helpful and very responsive during a critical migration weekend.

What do you dislike?

Could enhance the error reporting on rejected batches from receiving CRM.
