"Cost effective remote access software"

What do you like best?

Price. We were using the application for free for a while but wanted a more professional solution. Paying a low monthly fee gave us our own hosted page and specific version users could download. It was easy to implement into our application as well. It has several feature we don''t user such as chatting, file transfer, and meetings. It's also a very simple installation. We've recently started using the web version which is easier since it doesn't require downloading the application at all.

What do you dislike?

Older versions do not update automatically, hence we we prefer running it from the hosted site. Also, in some situations it doesn't respond well but it's hard to say whether it's the end user internet service or the computer causing problems. I've been connected to certain users without being able to control but the screen refreshes just fine.

Recommendations to others considering the product

For other needing to manage specific PCs I would recommend Logmein or any of the other solutions in the market. This is inexpensive and easy to implement.

We've been able to efficiently support our user base with a simple easy to use solution at a very reasonable price.

"It's ok ... in a pinch... if you have no other choice available"

What do you like best?

ShowmyPC offers a free version of their remote control software that allows us to get into someones computer (with their permission and access codes). It is regularly updated and it works. There is a premium version available. We use it as a last resort when our regular tools fail.

What do you dislike?

Screen scaling makes it hard to read the remote screens (way too small) and there is some lag in keyboard and mouse input - so much so that it is annoying! Having to explain to remote users how to install it and use it - every time - for 15+ minutes - every time, gets old. Hence our switch to Teamviewer which is always running in the background. You also need to have the user there to help. It will not reactivate on a reboot - reboot and your connection is gone and you need help from the remote user to reconnect. Which is fine, if they are there. If you are working on their system after hours so you don't interrupt their work - you are out of luck.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Looking for a free remote control software to help your family members with technical issues? This works and it's free. You should also look at Teamviewer and Logmein, both of which have free versions and tend to run more smoothly than ShowMyPC.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use it to provide technical support for remote users - when our primary tools fail. It gives us a last ditch option to get into a computer, get our normal tools (Teamviewer) back up and running.

"Don't think it is secure enough for HIPAA"

What do you like best?

This is an easy way to share your screen when you are in need of technical support and IT assistance is not on site. If is simple to use and there are low cost and even free options available. It is not difficult to disconnect and gives clear signals and ale er ts to let you know what user is connected.

What do you dislike?

I don't feel that this connection is HIPPA compliant. With the se mb active patient data that we have on out computers it is just not okay to take the risk of breaching the confidentiality codes. This is the major problem with an yr remote connection situation.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is a great option when you are in need if a quick solution to remote desktop connection access. It is, however, not the best out there. There are connection issues and screen share time delays but for a free product it is helpful when you need it.

This solved the problem of not having in house IT support. Techs are able to assist remotely. They can diagnose, troubleshoot and problem solve without being in the building. With medical professionals that are not always tech savvy, it is important to have some sort of IT support available at all times

"It is a good free way of remoting onto computers."

What do you like best?

The file size is small. The software is easy to use and in my case is free.

What do you dislike?

There are several buttons within the program that do not work including the alt + ctrl + del, button. The connection is very slow and response time is lacking.

ShowMyPC is a great place to start out for providing free support.

We are able to provide support to our clients. and with the file size being small it is relatively easy passing the file right over.

"Works great in Windows and needs some work for MACs"

What do you like best?

Capability to host partly in-house and a great help for non-profit organizations with many volunteers tech needs.

What do you dislike?

It can be somewhat difficult to use with MAC support since it requires JAVA.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tech support for volunteer and customers.

Easy to install with over the phone instructions.
