Thorn Technologies SFTP Gateway Reviews & Product Details

The product itself has been easy to use and administer. I especially like the straightforward process of defining Google Cloud Storage integration. But importantly, I found it extremely easy to set up through the Google Cloud Platform marketplace offering. I am moderately capable with GCP's services, but by no means an expert, so the advantage of having it well-packaged for deployment makes it stand out. I've also requested support from the Thorn team, and they've been very responsive and able to solve my issues (confusion on my part, not product) within minutes. Thorn's SFTP Gateway is easy to deploy.

The Admin web console is intuitive and focussed on the day-to-day activities, like administering users and checking logs.

The customer support responds is easy to access, responds fairly quickly in a professional gentle manner.

The knowledge base and manuals are clearly written.

The software runs very stable once your users have been created.

If needed, you can access to the CLI via SSH, and customized the running OS (Amazon Linux) according your own needs.

From the security standpoint. it needs to mention, the SFTP gateway uses a Thorn propeteriary SFTP protocol implementation, so it needs to be updated outside of the usual OpenSSH lifecycle. Which reduces the attack vector but requires a regular update of the Thorn software components following their best practice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is not much to say: I would love to see pending OS or software updates in the WebUI as this is more often accessed than the CLI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Excellent customer support and very easy to set up! The engineer I worked with, Bryce Wagner, guided me through each step, from configuring logs to connecting with our analytics workspace. He even set up a test environment on his end to replicate the issue and ensure everything would run smoothly. The implementation was quick, and the platform itself is very user-friendly. Can use our own storage engine (S3) and create rules in lambda to trigger automations when there's file activity.

The detailed audit and application logs (that are streamed to CloudWatch) make this the most transparent SFTP solution out there. Having to deal with clients who rely on their service and being able to actually troubleshoot is a game changer. The admin interface is also great and makes it very easy to manage users and directories.
