Rubrik is constantly looking at including new protection sources, and actively engage with customers for feedback. Rubrik has an informative dashboard and robust reporting engine to simplify daily management tasks. The Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC) integrates all data protection/recovery tasks and system management into a single pane of glass. The Rubrik support team is very knowledgeable and responsive. **What do you dislike about Rubrik?** There are some lacking features, but Rubrik is constantly making improvements and adding new features. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rubrik provides us a single product to backup/recover ALL of our database sources (MSSQL, Oracle, and IBM DB2), as well as servers file systems, VMware, and even Exchange. The previous products we used were not able to provide protection of all data sources (at least not without significant performance impact) to the end user applications. ### 3. We needed a solution, that is reliable, easy to implement and doesn't need much care in terms of keeping it up-to-date. Usability was also a big deal for us. No need to hire additional specialists to administrate the clusters. It's really feature rich and future proof. All assets we need to backup and things we plan in the future are already supported. Support is always friendly and helpful, if needed and proactively monitors the clusters e.g. for hardware faults. Features like instant recovery let us recover faulty assets in about 2 minutes and storage vMotion can be done afterwards, from Rubrik or vCenter UI. Single file recovery is really helpful, the UI helps browsing and downloading needed files really fast. RBAC makes it possible to give restore permissions to key users and showing them how to use the UI doenst't take much time and is really intuitive. Rubrik offers many security features, like MFA, 2-person rule, isolated backup data and much more. And last but not least, it is API driven and enables us to automate many tasks. Even things like automatically restoring to isolated recovery sites can be done to check backup integrity. And I like the possiblity to setup an orchestrated recovery plan. ### 4. We have always been able to recover data when needed and have never had to pay ransomware.The support team associated with Rubrik is to be commended for their expertise and responsiveness. **What do you dislike about Rubrik?** Price negotiation with sales team and fixed size appliances, with fixed size appliances less of an issue now that virtual appliances can now scale to larger sizes. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rubrik is making backups cool again! I tell everyone that Rubrik is a security company that does backups. They protect and enable us to proactively and reactively deal with threats while preserving the environment. We love the support, simplicity and security. We have really enjoyed the relationship that we have built and we look forward to growing in the cloud with Rubrik. **What do you dislike about Rubrik?** We enjoy the benefits, and it is hard to find a dislike. We have been with them early on, watching them grow in size. They get better as they focus on enterprise pieces. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** This backs up our whole VM environment and a lot of physical servers as well. It is a one stop shop for all of our data protection wherever it lives - VMWare VM's, Azure VM's, SQL Databases, Oracle Databases, MS 365 (Mail, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams) to name a few. We can assign highly configurable SLA's to our data and let Rubrik handle the rest. The platform is zero trust, so our data is always available, encrypted and immutable. The support team are also great, and have always resolved issues in a timely manner. **What do you dislike about Rubrik?** Not a lot! But if I had to say something, the search within the 365 data protection area could be a little better, particularly around searching for SharePoint sites and libraries. Perhaps we could also have a few more built in and customisable reports. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rubrik is giving us the confidence that our data is completely protected and secure. Easy to start and maintain compared to other products we have used in the past. Fast backups, restores and mounts with excellent reporting make our life a lot easier. **What do you dislike about Rubrik?** The only thing that I could possibly say that I dislike is we cannot set a monthly backup on the first of the month. This is already a suggestion to them and they are investigating it. **Recommendations to others considering Rubrik:** Take a POC from them and throw what you can at it. We moved over a 100 VMs, including some SQL during the POC. Avamar would have issues with stuns and Rubrik would just move right along with no issues. Don't overthink how can this product be doing so well and be so easy - it really just is. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our backups were always having issues with large SQL backups being stunned. Rubrik not only solved this but with the Rubrik VSS driver we are getting application consistent backups across the board. The product itself is very user friendly, simple to use and also looks great! Every feature we've had to utilise so far has just, worked, and worked as expected as well (always a bonus!) The materials available for study of the products and getting involved with Rubrik (think, swag, customer engagement) has also been a plus point. **What do you dislike about Rubrik?** 1. Sizing, its taken us a long time (and is still ongoing) to get the sizing of the product correct, I'm not sure the retention policies and the way data 'ages out' of the platform was explained to us properly. 2. Alerts - Alert notifications were not as easy to configure and customise as I would have liked. 3. Integration with Oracle databases - Whilst we were told that the product supports Oracle native backups, it wasn't fully explained that this was only for a very specific configuration scenario. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** Helping us ensure backups are complete, reliable and on-time, we're also secure in the knowledge that our workloads are backed up in multiple locations, both on and off prem. ### 15. We chose and installed 2 clusters at the primary & failover datacenter a few years ago, mainly for their quick backup/restore capability, immutability, API access to Hypervisor (not SMB), forever incremental backups, instant recovery, CDP, site to site replication and ability to archive to NFS storage at no extra cost. Not only Rubrik has met our expectations in these areas but also came out with new features such as Threat hunts, anomaly detection and sensitive data detection. They continue to grow the ecosystem to better protect customer's environment. Rubrik also communicates with the customer's well for support needs and feedbacks. I recently had a call with their team about their upcoming new feature and provided feedback. **What do you dislike about Rubrik?** Rubrik is not cheap but not too expensive compared to other comparable solutions. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rubrik is able to protect our data with 7-year data retention requirement via NFS archiving which our previous backup solution couldn't do. Ransomware investigation and Sensitive data detection are features we did not have but much needed to prepare against malware attacks and data exfiltration events. ### 19. In the next 5 years we expect to save over 55% switching from our legacy provider to Rubrik. It’s also mitigated us against any future data centre blackouts through its Azure replication capabilities - while significantly reducing our power consumption and footprint in the data centre. ### 20. However, I wouldn't change it because it would add unnecessary complexity for something that isn't a common occurrence. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** Quick and efficient data recovery for thost accidental file deletions and corrupt servers. Beyond that, Rubrik has integration with cloud storage and services to allow the creation of air-gapped storage for better cyber attack recovery. What I have found is that we have replication between on-prem sites and then replication to AWS, then a separate copy within AWS that is stored, but older, for a last-ditch recovery. **What do you dislike about Rubrik?** I don't like that Rubrik can't directly backup Azure SQL Services directly to cloud for replication and recovery. The databases have to be backed up as flat files first, then saved off to storage which makes recovery options limited. If they can clean this up/add this feature we would give this a 10. **What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?** Single plane of glass console for backups spanning on-prem and cloud storage platforms with easy replication between those platforms. Rubrik has made leveraging cloud-based storage for backup retention very simple. ### 27.
