"All roads lead to MathPix"
What do you like best about Mathpix?

Mathpix's advanced OCR ability and proprietary markdown language solve many of my problems. As an instructional designer, I often face the difficulty of converting math-heavy PDF or LaTeX documents to an accessible format for our LMS, which is both accessible to screenreaders and also passes automated testing by ALLY or Panorama. I have tried many solutions, but the complexity of these documents means that most of the existing solutions either don't work, or only work on a small subset of documents. Using MathPix to scan and convert documents to MathPix markdown, I can bypass the accessibility challenges and deficiencies of LaTeX itself, and simply convert even the most complex LaTeX document to the simplest markdown while preserving formatting.

My workflow is typically to upload a PDF document, convert it to a Note, edit/correct some elements in the markdown itself, export to Word to add header styles, table headers, and alt text, and then export to PDF again. On some occasions, I use a PDF-to-HTML workflow and import the HTML into the LMS. While some manual correction is inevitable, both of these workflows produce documents that meet almost every standard for Ally and Panorama and correctly render math equations for a screenreader. What do you dislike about Mathpix?

I need an ink-to-text solution similar to MathType for creating new documents on phones and tablets. While Mathpix has an app and good ink-to-text abilities on the desktop app, the mobile app has some shortcomings in its ink-to-text abilities. In particular, I cannot adjust the line width of the pen tool. This means the best way to create new documents is with a PC with tablet input abilities, such as a Surface or Lenovo Yoga. However, many faculty members have either a pc or a tablet, which leaves a gap as most ink-to-text tools ironically don't work well on tablets or phones.

Additionally, there are some accessibility gaps in the conversion process, in particular missing table header rows. An automated llm plugin to generate or suggest alt txt/long descriptions for graphics would also be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mathpix saved us thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars in unnecessary grunt work."
What do you like best about Mathpix?

I’ve been using Mathpix for over five years now, and I can say with complete confidence that it has fundamentally transformed the way I work with technical documents. Whether dealing with scanned PDFs, printed equations, handwritten notes, or legacy content that needs digitization, Mathpix has saved me thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars in what would otherwise be tedious, error-prone grunt work.

Instead of dedicating time or budget to manual transcription or OCR cleanup, I now rely on Mathpix to handle the heavy lifting. It's allowed me and my teams to redirect time and funding toward higher-level tasks like pedagogy, content development, and innovation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathpix?

After five years of consistent use, I can confidently say that Mathpix has been one of the most valuable tools in our workflow. While its scope is relatively narrow, its execution is near flawless. The software excels at what it sets out to do—quickly and accurately converting printed and handwritten math into LaTeX and structured formats—and that reliability has saved us thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars in labor and transcription costs.

What’s especially impressive is how Mathpix has evolved. Features we've wished for have steadily been rolled out over the past half-decade, showing that the team is responsive and clearly invested in the long-term refinement of the platform. It’s not overloaded with bloated features—it focuses on solving a well-defined problem and does so extremely well.

We’ve recently begun exploring the chemistry OCR capabilities, and while that’s a significantly more complex domain, we're eager to see how Mathpix handles it. There may be limitations, but based on past experience, we trust that whatever it does support, it will do with precision. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An Essential Tool for Academic and Technical Work"
What do you like best about Mathpix?

The accuracy in converting handwritten or image-based mathematical equations, chemical formulas, and scientific notation into editable LaTeX, MathML, or AsciiMath is truly exceptional. This saves an immense amount of time compared to manual typing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathpix?

The limitations of the free tier (e.g., number of conversions per month) can be restrictive for heavy users, necessitating a paid subscription. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The tool can successfully detect right equation"
What do you like best about Mathpix?

I have been using Mathpix Snip for a while, and I must say it's been a game-changer for me. This software has not only made my life as a student easier but also significantly improved the accuracy of my work.

The feature I love the most is its ability to convert equations and mathematical notations from images or PDFs into LaTeX code. It saves me a tremendous amount of time that would otherwise be spent typing out complex mathematical expressions. The accuracy is impressive, and it rarely makes mistakes. This has allowed me to focus more on understanding the concepts rather than struggling with formatting equations.

As a student, I often need to collaborate on documents with my peers and professors. Mathpix Snip's ability to convert equations to various formats, including DOCX, Overleaf, and Markdown, has simplified the collaboration process. No more worrying about formatting issues or compatibility with different tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathpix?

The price I find little bit expensive for a student. Other than that everything seems to be good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Math formulas are simple with Mathpix"
What do you like best about Mathpix?

- Mathpix can also solve complex math problems and give accurate results.

- Mathpix has a friendly and easy to use interface, you just need to take a picture of the math expression and get the results instantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathpix?

- Mathpix can only recognize mathematical formulas, not text or graphs.

- Mathpix has a limit on the number of photos taken per month for free users.

- Mathpix may not be accurate if the image quality is poor or the handwritten formula is not clear. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mathpix is an incredibly helpful assistant to my studies and research workflows as a student. It speeds up the rate at which I can convert my work done on paper into perfectly formatted typeset. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathpix?

The platform is great, so I only wish users had more free uses on the desktop web app. This would make this platform the best in the market with no competition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
