**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

I appreciate the potential reporting features of Lightspeed Restaurant.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

I was disappointed with the quality of equipment sent compared to our current setup and the operational requirements needed to set it up. Customer service was also an issue, particularly in getting answers. I've been trying to cancel my contract for a month without a siginificant response (other than saying I can only cancel If I speak to them on the phone), just after initially signing,and they increased the contract cancellation fee from £2,000 to £10,000.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

Smart and ease of use software for all of our staff. No need to buy exclusive hardware, all hardware can be bought off the shelf and is easy to set up. Customer support is always available and we have a dedicated account manager who looks after our portfolio

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

Took a long time for implementation and we had some teething errors over the first 6 months on implementation but were given support over the last 6 months to get us bck on track.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

I dont like anyting about it because nothing really works correctly and you do not have an account rep to advocate on your behalf. Even the settlements are frequently off .

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

When we went live, we did not have a knowledgable person to help us understand and configure the system. There were many problems after we went live and the post go live support is the worst I have ever encountered. Support tickets go unresolved or unanswered for weeks.

**What problems is Lightspeed Restaurant solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The big problem is the customer support is nonexistant. The accounting integration does not work correctly. The company is very end user unfriendly.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

The software integration market offers a vast array of options and possibilities.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

It has been quite some time since we received a significant update for this software. Since the company ventured into the stock market, the pace of innovation seems to have slowed down considerably. We heavily rely on the Marketman and Xero integrations, but we've encountered numerous problems on the Lightspeed side.

Furthermore, we've been working on developing a survey app that integrates seamlessly with Lightspeed. Unfortunately, in the initial stages, we've faced API failures that have hindered our progress. What's truly frustrating is that we've noticed a significant number of users in the forums grappling with the same issues, and it appears that the company is not adequately addressing these problems.

Easy to use, easy to set up, abundantly integrated with additional services.

No remote access. Local server can sometimes be a pain. Database changes aren't reflected immediately.

Lightspeed Pos is a good system. I would recommend it to anyone. There is an item of note. Lightspeed gift cards need to provide a gift card receipt and have the ability to provide a printed balance to our guests. It doesn't do any of these as of right now. Not a significant issue, but it does need to be addressed.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

Gift Card process. It's time-consuming, and you can't even provide a receipt or a balance receipt of the gift card. You have to tell the guest how much is on the card. It would be nice to give them a printout.

**What problems is Lightspeed Restaurant solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to take our business online for take-out orders. They just started to provide this service. We haven't yet but plan to. I'm hoping they take care of any issues before we decide to move forward with this service.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

Lightspeed is one of the deepest restaurant POS systems out there. It has lots of features that other systems lack and there's plenty of room to grow. Best of all, their support is amazing. they are very proactive about customer success and open to new feature suggestions--they'll even get in touch to let you know they implemented your ideas! Always improving, always dynamic, never static.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

You can't enter new products on the fly, to do this you need to sign into the back end and sometimes there's a lag before it appears in the menu. Also, since it's a bit more complex than other POS systems the learning curve is a bit high for some users. So it requires a little more training than the average POS system.

**What problems is Lightspeed Restaurant solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Lightspeed to track payroll hours, as a backup for our inventory, and for reporting. It's used across departments to access financial and sales data that's critical to managing our business. It also integrates with our booking engine so that's helped.

Streamlined processes for taking orders and getting them to the kitchen through the KDS.

Time clock is very basic, high processing fees, accounting is separate and additional cost with poor performance, loyalty program is separate and costs more

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

There is nothing to like about this software. The sales pitch is misleading and not what you get.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

There is nothing good about this software. Lightspeed's sales pitch misleads and is not what you get, so much so that we had to cancel our subscription to minimize the damage this software has already caused. Furthermore, they send you the hardware with the promise that you can talk to their support and have it up and running, which is invalid. I spent over $1000 on hiring a computer person with 30 years of experience, and even after the program was up and running, I made unlimited phone calls to support. Customer service is slow to respond. Despite this, the salesperson did not bring it up during the meeting. Lightspeed fails this test because we chose our POS system based on its guaranteed excellent support. One more reason for switching to Lightspeed was its credit card integration offered by the salesperson. But it not only didn't work, but it was also downright horrible.
We ended up removing the integration and went back to standalone. We continued with the following promise, seamless integration with our third-party delivery application. The integration was such a disaster that we had to cancel it to minimize the damage it had already done to our delivery rating. Lightspeed has OrderAhead (online portal) that falls short. It's terrible. Hence, we returned to our online platform. Our result is that I now have to pay close to $300 per month for a POS system when I previously paid nothing for software that offered the same functionality and was more appropriate for restaurants and bars.

There are zero benefits. I had to pull the plug less than a month after spending all this money on the hardware.

As we all know, POS needs for restaurants have changed greatly since the pandemic.  Not only does Lightspeed Restaurant fully integrate with all of the delivery platforms, but Lightspeeds online ordering system, Order Ahead, is super easy to set up and manage as well.  With the ability of a rewards program, newly added inventory program and a wonderful support team, you can't go wrong with this proven POS.

I'd like to see an e-gift card program ASAP please.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Restaurant:**

Once you have decided on the needs of your restaurant, compare Lightspeed Restaurant with the competition, you'll see it covers areas the others can't.

With Lightspeed Restaurant we are running the day to day systems in our restaurant with ease.  The backoffice is straight forward and easy to train, delivery and take out are seemless, and the staff feel confident with the program, both in the kitchen and out front.

Lightspeed is incredibly user friendly which makes training our staf a breeze!  It is very customizable and we can update it on the fly.

I wish that it had better reporting per server.  The data exists, but lightspeed reports do not allow for it.

Using lightspeed has allowed us to provide an ipad for each server, which makes service more efficient and avoids lineups at the POS server station, and servers sweeping their section.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

Lightspeed is able to handle restaurants from quick-serve to table service with no problems.  We have used it for both types of restaurants.  We had servers who waited tables in our fine dining space, and we have a self-service model where the customers order on ipads on their own!  Both have worked great with Lightspeed.  The system can handle just about anything you throw at it.  It is incredibly flexible regarding splitting tickets, on-the-fly changes to menus and pricing, accommodating notes and discounts, etc.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

Lightspeed has a slightly longer learning curve than some other POS systems, but that is to be expected due to its ability to handle so many different yptes of restaurants and issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Restaurant:**

Check it out!  You will find it very flexible and once you are familiar with it, easy to use.  You can use it for your POS, inventory, time and attendance, gift certificates, reporting, you name it, it can do it.

Due to the issues with staffing at all restaurants, we have been able to continue serving our customers by using Lightspeed's system of allowing customers to order on ipads at each table.  This has allowed us to reopen after the shut down due to covid-19 with a much smaller staff but allows us to meet our customers' expectations.  It also allows them to reorder drinks or desserts without having to find a waiter to do this for them, thus improving our turnover time for tables.

Lightspeed is an easy point-of-sales system to use, especially for small businesses. As an accountant, I find it easy to navigate and pull the needed reports.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

I don't really have anything that I necessarily dislike with Lightspeed. If I could suggest, it would be to update its interface. It would be great if it had a more modern and user-friendly look.

We are using Lightspeed to track inventory, sales, and employee hours. It's been beneficial for creating accurate financial statements, running payroll, and processing sales tax returns.

Front end display is really well configured and the integrations with other services work perfectly.

The checkout process for payments has been recently redeveloped, and I prefer the old look but that's just a personal choice.

Improve the order ahead system and loyalty systems. Include a scale interface for the items by weight.

Working offsite is a breeze for me now. Sales accounting is fully integrated, and payment processing with Moneris integration eliminates and discrepancies.

There were a few small functionality features that we disliked initially, but their support team took our feedback and fixed them for us.

I have long searched for a simple, affordable, and effective sales system that is compatible with MEV, and this is the only one I found that met my needs! I recommend Lightspeed without hesitation! I've been using the product for 1 year, the company follows up with me and I appreciate it! I have nothing negative to say!

Eventually, if the order program can be accessible on iPhone, that would be great!

We signed up for Lightspeed a few years ago.   The customer service has been exceptional.   They were available 24/7 and never made me feel stupid for asking a question.  The software is very easy to use and we were able to let new staff use it with absolutely no training - yes - that easy.  It helped us with our inventory and kept us all accountable.   


**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

I haven't found anything that I don't like about LightSpeed Restaurant.   WE are a small venue and the representative I dealt with customized it for our needs.   No complaints here.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Restaurant:**

Lightspeed has helped our venue a great deal.   Easy to use and no training needed for staff.  It made closing the till and doing inventory at the end of the night a breeze.

Lightspeed has helped us all be accountable.   The bartenders use the program when serving - and the inventory is automatically adjusted.    At the end of the night, I am able to do a quick audit - making sure the numbers match the inventory.

The new upgrades aren’t always easy to understand.

Definitely cost effective compared to other systems we looked at. The yearly cost of operation is also very pleasing. The ease of use and ability to make changes is the best part.

Solid and financially savvy POS for cafés. It permits fast and effective preparing of new staff on money obligations. Lightspeed is an incredible apparatus to wipe out any perplexity and ensure everything runs easily.

It was a bit glitchy when we first got the software, but support was on top of it and was constantly coming out with bug fixes and updates.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

I manage a restaurant called Eclipse Chocolate, and I was uncertain that Lightspeed would be able to meet all of our needs. We're a full service dining concept with brunch and dinner daily, a cafe, a bakery, an event space, a confectioner, and a wholesaler; we needed a POS that would be intuitive and adaptable to a very dynamic menu, and usable by professional servers, as well as kitchen and production staff. We got it!

The customer service is outstanding, and offered hands-on support with our setup. We'd had some initial miscommunications and misunderstandings, and we found we needed some additional functionality out of the software. However, the team has always been very helpful and fast to respond; I'm also very pleasantly surprised how much development is being done with the app. This is definitely a well-supported POS that is constantly being improved. 

I'm extremely impressed by how well it works for our unique "combo based" menu. Lightspeed has helped close a lot of simple human error loopholes! 

We also decided to invest in the "Liteserver," which was an expensive piece of hardware, but a welcome relief during internet outages. Losing WiFi during a busy brunch was disastrous with previous cloud-based POS'es, but now we don't even miss a beat (or a ticket).

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

There are still a handful of features we'd love to see, like more detailed Labor Reports that can indicate overtime without us manually calculating it or exporting to a supported third party service. However, I'm hopeful these features will be added since the app is seeing consistent updates.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Restaurant:**

Give it a try, at least. 

**What problems is Lightspeed Restaurant solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest improvement is the automation. The software is easily set up to detect combo discounts, and I am very happy with the customization of auto-popups, which have reduced mismade plates and eased communication between back and front of house. It's so handy how modifiers can be optional or required, and defaults can be customized. The look of the app can be adjusted to give visual clues (for example grouping similar item buttons with similar colors, dividers, lines, etc..)

Updates can take a few minutes to load but never anything serious. As long as you stay on top of updates there are no real problems

It is very user friendly. Compared to other Point of Sale operating systems, this one can do things others can't.

Need to learn more about all the features that it has to offer. I was given a limited amount of time before we had to go live with the product. Still learning through trial and error.

This is the way of the future. Get on board if you want your restaurant and your employees to succeed.

Setting the categories for Beverage sales and Food sales, had trouble getting report numbers to match up with actual sales. The back end use for Lightspeed has been great as a manager. Getting my reports for Labor and Sales has never been easier.

As a hostess at a restaurant, this is a great way for me to take control of the floor.  It allows me to see which tables have been sat, which tables have checked out, which tables are open for seating, etc.  My job is all about communication with the servers and about the flow of the restaurant.  Lightspeed is a great tool to eliminate any confusion and make sure everything runs smoothly.

So far, I haven't run into any issues with the program (however, as a host, I haven't necessarily used all aspects of the program either).

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Restaurant:**

Definitely a great tool for any restaurant, but especially so for busy restaurants with long wait times.

We are able to solve many instances of miscommunication, as the program is constantly updated as to which tables are available and unavailable, checked out or need service, and more.  We no longer run into the embarrassment of taking a group to a table that has already been seated.

Just an idea : maybe there could be a person designated to visit each new customer, let`s say one week after opening, just to make sure the customer understands everything this software has to offer. I`m sure they would show many little tricks and bring them to the next level.

I would recommend looking into the various integrations that are available for the solution.

There are fantastic inventory management solutions like Market Man the Lightspeed integrate with available.

There are also PMS, online ordering, loyalty, time and attendance and many other types of integrations available.

Lightspeed restaurant is providing a clean easy to use iPad POS solution for businesses. By using the solution businesses are able to get more insight into their performance.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

I like the ease of use.  I can quickly change items, pricing, floor layout, pos layout on the backend.  The system is very user friendly to use and modify.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Restaurant?**

There are a couple features that are a bit hidden behind a long press.  Like the when you are trying to pull up past orders/receipts.  You just have to know to long press on the table you are want to look up the previous tickets.  Also we include tax in a lot of our pricing to make the prices even for the customer.  However, some amounts come out as .01 or .99 and there is no way to round these up or down.  So a fix for that would be terrific.  I don't like that you can't manually take a credit card...we get some credit cards that the stripe won't read and we are unable to accept credit card payment from that customer. 

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Restaurant:**

I think it is a great software for the restaurant business.  I'd make sure you get it setup properly and the way you want it so you can hit the ground running.  What is nice is that the iPad it runs on can be deployed it very convenient places very easily.

We are solving a way to keep track of our Food and beverage sales.  The benefit being that it is easy to track which categories are selling the best and areas of where we can improve.  I like the ease of use because its all about speed in the restaurant environment.

I'm not sure if Lightspeed offers this, but self-serve kiosks are the future, and it would be great to see if Lightspeed ventures towards this endeavour.
