Session recording is awesome and gives great insight into where your customers are struggling with visibility of u turns and rage clicks. It is really easy to implement, set and fine tune. I dislike the new pricing model and the separation of the various analytics across observe, ask etc. They are all important for product analytics. It would have been much better to keep an option for bundled deals. I am currently reviewing options at my new company and considering not implementing hotjar due the change in their pricing model. I like the fact that hotjar gives me clear visual data points about what's happening when my users are on my website. The only thing I don't like about Hotjar is when I was using this tool between 2018-2021, they didn't offer user sessions recordings for mobile apps. Since my product offering was omnichannel and even the users would transition/keep traversing between the website and the app, it was hard to follow the whole journey which made it very difficult to get all the user data at a single place. Hotjar was a really useful tool for us in the product and content marketing team. We used to it see how leads were behaving on our blogs, LPs and product pages. Using that info, we were able to make adjustments to our pages to make them more optimized for consumption. We also did see a drop in bounce rate which meant our optimization was useful in the end. There are points that could be improved, such as the analysis of the conversion funnel and forms, which, although it is not bad to have them included in the service, do not have the level of detail of other tools (some of them free, as is the case of Google Analytics for conversion funnels). The recordings are of quality, without making the page load heavy.
