The user engagement tracking is pretty cool. The fact that every mouse clicks and hovering can be tracked. We use hotjar for most of our clients. What do you dislike about Hotjar by Contentsquare? It does take a toll on the website's performance. I have noticed that the website loading speed is affected after we installed the tracking code. Although they promised to give you a €50 Amazon voucher if you share your experience they did not keep their promise. They gave a ridiculous reason as to why the experience I shared was not enough for them. However, every experience is an experience, if you can't use it for advertising, that's not my problem. Between heatmapping, session replay, and feedback surveys, and general surveys, HotJar can fill multiple gaps in your website's ongoing optimization strategy. I preferred when their session capture was manual instead of automatic and continuous, because there was less data sampling. HotJar is following the business and pricing model of other similar tools, which allows better for ongoing optimization, but makes the free version more and more useless by the day. Hotjar is for you if you have your own E-Commerce store. Installation is a breeze & Hotjar has a simple dashboard. You can see all your critical metrics like - Top pages on your website, total sessions, average session duration, bounce rate, graphs for rage clicks & u-turns, top countries, devices and operating systems that your website has been getting responses from. You can view your users' session recordings and analyze heatmaps to know which elements have been getting the most clicks, rage clicks or dead clicks. All this is done (session recording, heatmaps) while keeping privacy policies in mind. It will analyze the behavior of your traffic using these different tools and give you unique and meaningful insights as to what the audience wants. If you have a big eCommerce business with thousands of visitors a day, you will have to buy one of their business plans which will record a huge number of daily sessions. Recommendations to others considering Hotjar by Contentsquare: If you have a booming online business, you should use Hotjar as it helps you narrow down on your customer needs by understanding their behavior and what they want when they land on your website. If you have an online business with an eCommerce store and you get a lot of daily visitors but your conversion rates are low, Hotjar can help you identify, analyze and fix problems on your website. This will in turn help you boost conversion rates by understanding the behavior of your visitors and giving them more of what they want. We had a SaaS product which we used Hotjar for. It helped us identify reasons people were not clicking on our desired Call to Action or why people were not being led to the conversion action. We identified a lot of sections on the website which had dead/rage clicks. So we added information on those sections/made them clickable. We used heat maps/scroll maps to identify the most engaging parts of the blogs we were writing. We could identify the source of traffic and so much more with Hotjar.
