What is Hootsuite, and what problem is it built to solve?

Hootsuite is social media management software for brands and organizations that need to build and maintain relationships with audiences across social networks and one-to-one messaging channels. Its focus includes social insights, employee advocacy, social selling, and social customer care.

What languages does Hootsuite support?

Hootsuite supports 7 languages: Arabic, English, French, German, and Italian, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Hootsuite the best fit for?

Hootsuite is used across small-business, mid-market, and enterprise organizations, with reviewer-reported use spanning several industries. The most visible clusters include:
  • Company size: Small businesses, mid-market organizations, and enterprises.
  • Industries: Marketing and advertising, information technology and software, and higher education and nonprofit organizations.

How long does it take to implement Hootsuite across a team?

Teams most often report getting Hootsuite live in under a month, though setup can take longer when workflows are more involved.
Time to go live Relative frequency
Under 1 month Most common
1–3 months Less common
3–6 months Occasional
6–12 months or longer Uncommon

What customer support options does Hootsuite provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support spans self-service resources and direct help through email, chat, and phone, including 24/7 live-rep support. The experience is mixed: users value responsive, helpful assistance, while others find responses slow or support difficult to reach.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Hootsuite from another tool?

Switching from social management tools such as Sprout Social, Buffer, Zoho Social, and Agorapulse has been driven by the need to bring scheduling, account management, engagement, and reporting into one workflow. The move can make collaboration, approvals, and multi-account publishing easier, especially when the previous setup felt manual or lacked the needed capabilities.

What tools and platforms does Hootsuite integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Hootsuite offers 50 integrations, connecting social publishing with creative, AI, CRM, service, and analytics tools.
  • Social networks: Facebook, Instagram for Business, TikTok, and X.
  • Creative and AI: Canva, Adobe Express, Claude, and ChatGPT.
  • CRM, customer service, and analytics: Salesforce Sales Cloud, HubSpot Marketing Hub, Zendesk for Customer Service, and Google Analytics.
These connections can bring content assets and drafting tools into publishing workflows, or link social activity with CRM, service, and reporting work, reducing the need to switch between tools.

What features or capabilities could make Hootsuite even more useful?

Hootsuite could be more useful with improvements that make reporting more flexible and publishing workflows more complete. The recurring requests center on:
  • Deeper, more customizable analytics with clearer platform-specific metrics and reporting.
  • Broader support for platform-specific formats and actions, including Stories, Reels, threads, tagging, and media options.
  • More flexible recurring scheduling, bulk editing, and changes to scheduled posts.
  • Simpler navigation and smoother approval, permissions, and account-management workflows.

How useful do Hootsuite users find its AI features in everyday use?

Hootsuite’s AI is most useful as a starting point for content and analysis, but the experience varies by team and use case. Users describe using it for:
  • Drafting and refining captions or copy.
  • Generating content ideas and hashtag suggestions.
  • Summarizing or interpreting performance data and social conversations.
These tools can save time and help overcome a blank page, but suggestions may feel generic or miss a brand’s voice, so users often review and edit the results.

5/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

Hootsuite helps me be super-efficient with this part of my job. I've tried other platforms and they are very time consuming and unnecessarily complicated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

Literally nothing - I love Hootsuite and I've recommended it and I'm trying to get it for another organization I volunteer with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Superior UI/UX with Powerful AI"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

Hootsuite has, by far, the most superior UI/UX of all the social media management tools I’ve worked with. I also really like the AI/intelligence features (OwlyAi), as well as the social listening tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

I wish Hootsuite had a built-in Review Management component so my team could handle everything in one platform. Also, some junior support members aren’t really contributing beyond providing routine platform updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simplifies Social Media with Intuitive Interface"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

I like that Hootsuite's interface is simple to use and doesn't require a tech background to understand. It's very intuitive and easy to navigate, allowing us to quickly gather information about our posts and anything we're tracking. It also allows new users to jump in and adopt the platform quickly and easily without much training. The interface is much cleaner compared to what we used before, and the team just likes using it a lot better. The initial setup was very easy, which made the transition smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

I wish Reddit was integrated into the platform because it's a social network we're using more and more recently. Wider platform compatibility would make it more useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Useful for Social Media Planning, but Missing Key Improvements"
2/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

Hootsuite is valuable because it centralizes social media publishing, scheduling, and monitoring in a single workspace. I especially appreciate being able to plan content across multiple channels, coordinate team approvals, and track engagement without constantly jumping between native platforms. For a media-monitoring and communications workflow, it saves time and makes editorial planning feel more organized and structured. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

Hootsuite can feel expensive for smaller teams, especially when advanced analytics, additional users, or broader functionality are needed. The interface is generally capable, but some workflows such as managing streams, permissions, and reporting could be more intuitive and faster to configure. It would also be helpful to have more flexible integrations and clearer guidance on which features are included in each plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy, Intuitive Posting with Great Previews—Hootsuite Is My Favorite"
5/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

Hootsuite is easy to use and intuitive. I love how it shows a preview of what the post will look like so you know how to format the graphic and text. I've used other sites before and have been the happiest with Hootsuite. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

I wish I could schedule stories instead of having to manually doing it from the app. That was one feature I would love Hootsuite to add. I also wish it would give ideal times for the day I want not just any day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Reliable Collaboration Across Channels"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

Hootsuite makes it very easy for multiple users from the same company to work together across different channels. I also like the reporting, however it could be streamlined a little more to make it easier to find the information you need.

I've never had any issues with performance, it's always fast and reliable, however I don't like being logged out each time. It would be good if it allowed you to stay logged in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

I think the way to navigate comments is a little clunky. In previous jobs I've used Emplifi and they have their moderation section a lot more refined and easier to handle.

I also think the ui itself is a little big for screens, everything feels tightly packed in, making it hard to see what you really need to see. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Social Media Scheduler with Minor Hiccups"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

I like that imagery uploading in Hootsuite is very easy, and the ability to tag products in the scheduling tool for Instagram. I also appreciate being able to share the same content on different platforms without having to recreate it for each platform. Plus, Hootsuite has a good, clean, easy-to-view layout. The initial setup was very quick and easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

It keeps logging me out of accounts, which is frustrating because I don't manage all the passwords and Google keys myself. This issue is compounded by the fact that the platforms are not all logged in on the PC where I manage Hootsuite. Sometimes, after tagging a product on an image, if Hootsuite doesn't like it, it won't notify me at the time of scheduling. Instead, it just fails to post at the allotted time, and I can't fix it until the next day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Social Media Management with Powerful Reporting"
5/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

I appreciate Hootsuite because it saves me time by allowing me to create one post for multiple social sites. I really like the reporting available, and I love comparing month over month results that are easy to understand for our board of directors. After getting Hootsuite Certified, the program became so easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

I wish I was able to tag people and businesses more easily or add in links in the comment instead of in the post. It was actually a huge learning curve many years ago. Getting Hootsuite Certified took a lot of time but once it was done the program was so easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Hootsuite: centralized management and scheduling that saves time"
4/5
What do you like best about Hootsuite?

Hootsuite allows us to centralize the management of our different social accounts on a single platform, and greatly facilitates the planning of posts for us. In concrete terms: a great time saver for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hootsuite?

Some minor ergonomic issues: you cannot change the order of images after importing media into a post. Editing posts after publishing is not possible on all platforms. The issue of being logged out of InBox due to inactivity, I never understood that either. Sometimes the tool is slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
