"Interesting suite of Jenkins"

What do you like best?

Central administration, support, regular updates

What do you dislike?

Documentation could be better, often we miss recent information.

Support is not yet familiar with Azure.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Large companies trying to consolidate Jenkins usage in the company and/or trying to provide such a tool for a large number of developers or development teams can get a good benefit from the tool when the project is approached in a complete matter: do not just add/place a new product but arrange a full organization update, trainining and guidance into the new methodologies made available and make sure to set SMART targets before and measure up after to be able to report and evaluate progress.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problems trying to solve: Provide a central service to quickly add new Jenkins masters; reduce amount of 'loose' / 'rogue' Jenkins OSS master installations all-over the company (on-prem as well as cloud); high-available setup; require less resources to be online all the time.

Benefits realized: still piloting

"CICD build pipelines at scale"

What do you like best?

I like the self service aspects that Cloudbees enables. Also many of the plugins work out of the box, without any dependency issues.

What do you dislike?

Jenkins as a whole, feels overly complicated, the configuration management piece scrolls on and on and on. There should be some focus from the community on making this less goofy.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

We deployed this on Kubernetes, and I believe this is the write approach for Jenkins in general. You can define the container and image and start versioning your build environment. The slaves are pods, they are created, the do their jenkins thing, and then they go away. This makes this totally elastic.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are in the middle of a DevOps transformation within our company, and this is allowing us to provide easy to manage Jenkins masters so developers can tailor their workflows to suit their needs without impacting others.

What Continuous Integration solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Great Pipeline Tool with lots of plugin support"

What do you like best?

I love that for my CI/CD pipelines, I have the ability to integrate with all of my favorite systems. Updates with CORE are easier to handle, and coordinate compatibility with supported plugins. The dashboards around around job runs are easy to read and highlight the historical success for your jobs.

What do you dislike?

Licensing is a little confusing, but once you get past that it is easy to maintain. I don't like the complexity of setting up jobs. Other products have full GUI interfaces, which make it easy to use for end users without needing to learn Groovy code.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Determine what your needs are and make sure that whatever product you choose checks all the boxes. With Jenkins Core, it is likely that you will find a plugin that will check most of them.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Fully automating software builds and related test procedures. Deployed code to Puppet Enterprise with GIT. Used build machines to build and test applications. Integrated with vRealize Automation as well to spin up environments on demand for testing purposes.

"Forward Thinking and Good Support"

What do you like best?

Cloudbees has excellent knowledge base articles that are in depth. The web support is good and there is coordination between the account representative and support in case of issues. Support staff is knowledgeable and there are opportunities to work with some of the plugin maintainers. If you have the support contract, you also have access to training videos and information.

What do you dislike?

Since support is web based and there is not a support number, sometimes it is difficult to figure out the best way to get immediate support when needed. Some of the training and knowledge base articles would benefit from review by a native English speaker.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Cloudbees has the ability to be an all in one tool. I recently viewed a webinar where they are working to integrate security and auditing tools, which is also sorely needed in the CI/CD industry.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The business had several CI/CD products which were not supported and did not integrate well. Cloudbees has a good product with various integrations and it is improving the visibility and speed of our CI/CD environment.

"Great Customer Service"

What do you like best?

The customer service by cloudbees is amazing and it keeps in touch with the customer at regular interval for the customer plans and suggestions. Highly recommended.

What do you dislike?

As a enterprise user of the product, cloudbees can view and verify its product after the installation and quality of the installation and guide for better management of the tools.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great Customer service and Professional service is one of the best service offered by Cloudbees. CloudBees has a lot of features. It has a core product with some special build stuff and purchase, which is great, but where they can improve is around the messaging. We use it for support, but a lot of our clients could possibly use some of the other features around it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

CI and CD

"CloudBees Jenkins in Enterprise "

What do you like best?

CJOC, Plugins, Shared Libraries and moreover support.

What do you dislike?

I have been working with opensource and CloudBees Jenkins only. So never got a chance to compare with other tools

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Many say CloudBees Jenkins is a CICD but for us it is an orchestration tool. Using Jenkins, not only we achieved CICD but also using as a scheduler, automating the migrations, start and stopping the service etc.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Complete Work Flow. We have accelerated our Build and Deployment processes. Mostly all projects are doing CICD.

"CloudBees is an ideal choice for hosting"

What do you like best?

I like CloudBees since it is an open source continuous integration platform that offers a wide array of cloud hosting services.

Another main benefit of CloudBees is that it allows users to spin up a new server and use it to carry out an entirety of your application’s codes thereby providing exceptional concurrency in all features and aspects of your applications.

What do you dislike?

One of the downsides of this application is that it is not compatible with applications that do not run on Java framework.

In addition, while it is paramount to have all your applications scaled up concurrently, it can be irrelevant to have a huge amount of resources at your dispose while you only need a certain level of concurrency in the background to process large data volumes.

Finally, it is less flexible than other similar platforms in the market as there is a limit on the number of activities that you can do on the platform.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I recommend CloudBees as it offers exceptional support to all Java applications and the customer care team is responsive and supportive.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

One of the main benefits is that it focuses only on Java language as well as other languages that are compatible with Java runtime. The fact that is focuses exclusively on one language makes it an ideal choice for all applications that run on Java.

"Continuous Integration made effortless/straightforward/safe/secure"

What do you like best?

Scalable across enterprise systems and very good product support with a faster/good solutions from vendor for problems.

Would definitely recommend this for large scale systems/organizations

What do you dislike?

Can improve documentation to have more details

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I work in a bank with around 600 applications. Cloud bees Jenkins has provided a very good way to automate builds/tests/scans and deployments. With the new pipeline approach and CI being shipped as part of code in applications SCM. Management made easy at such huge usage across the bank.

"Satisfied customer"

What do you like best?

Management tasks are extremely simplified now that we adopted Cloudbees Core.

What do you dislike?

Some of the internal work flows had to be calibrated and since some of the teams were using spinnaker, there was not an easy to migrate over. But I dont think it is a flaw from cloudbees , but it could have been easier.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Give it a try, it banks on years of expertise from Jenkins.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Significantly less down times, integration with openstack as well as DCOS and we are already banking on learnings and experiences gained from using Jenkins for a very long time.

I have been using it for more than a year. Jenkins is my favorite. It's really very robust and strong and supports a wide range of plugins.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes, it is very difficult to find out the error in Jenkins. This should be taken care of.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is the best one-stop solution for all the CICD related requirements. Easy to install, setup and use. It provides support of a wide range of plugins, So you can do almost anything you want.

1.Extremely Simplified

2. Highly extensible by a huge community of plugin developers

3. Pipelines are a great boost to productivity

4. Stable and Consistent performance

What do you dislike?

1. UI, Look and Feel

2. Configurinig Freestyle / Maven jobs is painful

3. No version control for Configuration Items

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Start and get first hand experience using Cloudbees before trying any other options. You can start by form based job options and once you acquire some comfort migrated to pipelines and advance methodologies.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have used Core for CI Automation and also CD to a great extent. We felt no real need to go with an external system by using Community plugins. Pipelines have increased our productivity multifold and has avoided duplication and laborious

What do you like best?

I think it is a very good solution and I love how scalable it is depending on the issue your team or company wants to solve with it.

What do you dislike?

I'd say it requires some training for developers to be proficient and to be able to easily integrate it into their systems, which might make it a bit expensive for the company overall.

"Decent JAVA framework, needs support for other non JVM languages"

What do you like best?

Cloudbees would have been a great framework if all we did was on JVM. As it uses Jenkins, plugin support is top notch. The apps run on separate instances of a server, so concurrency is a given. Has all the perks of jenkins, so build status is always available. As they only deal in apps in JAVA, support has been great, almost all questions are answered without much phone jugglery. They can talk about our setup, however unique it may be. A well versed support team is always a plus.

What do you dislike?

As stated before, the non JVM apps are not supported, so we are pretty much out of luck with ruby/php. The lack of them is rather limiting and tempts us to use Jenkins and configure it for all our needs. As of now, There are some stability issues where the server refuses to acknowledge any request. Also have noticed some scalability problems.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are running some java app, CloudBees has got you covered. You'll love the support and the features they provide, just stay in their ecosystem. You probably will not regret it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

A decent display setup can point to build status messages for all the devs/non-devs. Some of our JAVA apps, having a consistent support is great.

"CloudBees is the best tool for CI/CD"

What do you like best?

The ability to script in shell command and integrate with any other platform using build/deploy and run test at one central location is a huge.

What do you dislike?

It does not have right set of rich APIs to interact with property autherntication. UI are very usful, however automation script uses APIs to do the work. APIs around creation, execution of job with login will be useful.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I can not think of any other option for CI/CD and build automation other than CloudBees- Jenkins. No time should be wasted in considering this.

* It works flawlessly and supports large software development community.

* Reliable

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Leader in CI/CD industry with veterans/experienced developers working for them."

What do you like best?

cloudbees is the leader in CI CD development and innovation. their products are award winning and open source with more than 6000 stars on github like very famous jenkins.

what i like most about cloudbees how much they care about open source, and technologies to be working platform independent and have up to date support for technologies like docker.

based on java, they have some of best industry veteran java programmers, ex-core contributors of hudson and have now taken it afar to become extremely versatile product jenkins.

lets face it, everyone loves jenkins, but to scale and manager volumes of builds, is what cloudbees has support for technologies like mesos .

What do you dislike?

there isnt much to dislike even if you try, but the support for jenkins as compared cloudbees plugins is quite divergent. that all makes sense since cloudbees isnt inherently an open source company, they do strive and thrive to make money but they do it best way that helps communities also.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

cloudbees has variety of products, to see which one floats your boat, its always a good idea to start with their open source projects like jenkins and cloudbees docker plugin support.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

large scale application deployments, gated testing and integration test, multiple builds per day and secure single sign-on based platform for users to manage their development environments.

"User friendly software!"

What do you like best?

User friendly and provides better efficiency in operational process. Support given by Cloudbees Team is superb! Frequent support follow-up (on monthly basis) by Cloudbees Team. Issues attended by Cloudbees Team in short period of time.

What do you dislike?

One of the feature (auto refresh) is not working as per expected behaviour and it was found by customer during testing phase. This could be improved by sharing the issues by Cloudbees in advance instead of receiving the same finding by another party.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Very good software! Highly recommended!

What do you like best?

Cloudbees support is decent, though they are a bit myopic when it comes to open source plugins.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

"One of the best tool to monitor DevOps processes."

Nothing in particular about the usability, software and support. Unclear about the "user based" licensing model.

Great support and good technology improvements

"Why pay for what you can get for free"

What do you like best?

The free swag. I did not like any of the other features that are unique to Cloudbees.

What do you dislike?

Lack of scaleability. Promise of plugins never being followed through with.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would not recommend paying for Cloudbees, and would recommend to stick with Jenkins.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were using Cloudbees with the hope of scalability in their multi master setup, and with the hope of plugins they had promised that never happend. I was never impressed with the scalability, and found it to be quite lacking for the needs of modern CI/CT/CD needs.
