It’s a one-stop place for storing all my literature and organizing it by chapters and author names. I can even edit PDFs and highlight sentences to use as citations during my report writing. I also really liked the feature that lets us organize citations by keywords, because it makes it much easier to find the right citations while writing my report. It worked really well with Microsoft Word; I was able to integrate the Citavi app into the Word application for seamlessly importing my references during report writing. I used the paid version of Citavi access provided by my research group, and I think the pricing is very affordable for the features it offers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Citavi? Sometimes it glitched while integrating with Microsoft Word. The add-on in Word didn’t work at times, and the references didn’t appear. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Citavi solving and how is that benefiting you? It solves the huge problem of keeping all my references organized in one place. And it doesn’t just organize them—I can actually use them and cite authors directly from my Citavi references list into Word while writing a report. I can also pick citations straight from the web with the help of the Citavi Picker, add the web URL to the citation, and store everything as references in a single place. It really, really solves the problem of giving proper citations without missing any, and I don’t have to deal with the mess of manually adding citations. It does it automatically with a single click. One of the best features of the Citavi software is the organized management and administration of bibliographic textual citations through tags and categories, in addition to the ability to include citations and references directly in our writing as we work on it (and the required citation style). I use Citavi for my scientific work in research. citavi has a cloud access which I think is great. The application runs extremely reliably. If questions arise, there is a wide range of tutorials and communities. I think it has become the benchmark in reference management. I had direct email contact with the specialists from citavi for specific questions. They are very friendly and very helpful. In the meantime I have collected and categorized over 2000 sources via citavi. These can be called up directly via my Word document in a separate integrated button. Nearly 100% of the students are using Citavi writing their papers or thesis after having visited this seminars. They can concentrate on the content and let Citavi do the citation style stuff. It helps them to understand how scientific writing works. I'm using Citavi in my daily work too, to keep track of my research regarding scientific writing, citing and other topics of my seminars in information literacy. It is easy to format references in an article to meet any publisher's demands. It is also easy to create bibliographies for students. I also like the ease with which I can quote sources and the fact that all citations in my documents appear in the Bibliography. What is more, it is easy to edit the citations, much easier than, for example, in programs that come with document writer programs. I wish there were a way to sync my references across folders. It would also be helpful if there were a way to sync between computers. Recommendations to others considering Citavi: The free trial is a great opportunity to get to know that project. Once you hit 100 articles, you know it is time to buy. Also, citavi's lifetime membership is comparable to a year or so with the competition. Then again, after a couple of years you will want to purchase an update; however, you do not HAVE to. It's hard to think of just one -- so I won't. It's easy to add references, easy to categorize them and use the category system to organize papers and book-length work. I use a bibliography project to easily organize reading from web pages, too. It interfaces easily with Word documents... and much more. The tech support has been great. When I first set up work in Citavi, the tech support provided a beta version of a utility to convert my bibliographic entries from another less-used program. I may have used tech support once or twice in the past few years since then. The issue was always resolved within 24 hours. This is a great program for academics.
