Easy Data Recovery, But Slow Loading and Limited Manageability **Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Eduardo R. | Drafter and Installation Supervisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026 **What do you like best about Buildertrend?** It’s easy to access all my data from closed tabs and windows. **What do you dislike about Buildertrend?** The slow loading speed and the lack of manageability are my main issues. **What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?** Construction management: it helps me keep everything in one place. ### 2. Frustrating **Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Kari S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2023 **What do you like best about Buildertrend?** All of our job information from the last five years is mostly accessible on Buildertrend **What do you dislike about Buildertrend?** The software update at the end of last year really messed everything up. There is no auto-save; then, when you press save five times and try to close a window, it still says there are unsaved changes. There are no shortcut keys for save, ok, cancel, NO CTRL F, so much time is wasted scrolling through the windows. Windows aren't movable or resizeable, which makes it very hard to navigate. This is especially frustrating when editing online documents through buildertrend. The window the document pops up in can't be resized so many of the right click menu options cant be used when the menu is longer than the window. Documents are not available to view off line. Columns in the estimate and budget tabs are not resizeable, and the order can't be changed so there is more scrolling from side to side if you have a mouse that does that. If you don't have a scroll wheel that goes side to side have to scrool to bottom of the big window to use the small window scroll bar then scroll back up to the line item you were looking at then scroll back down to scroll back to left to keep working. The format of the proposals used to be very streamlined and easy to customize to how we wanted it to look. Now there is no way to show the totals of sub groups or to even make sub groups at all, and the formatting of the line items is big, bulky, looks terrible and can't be customized! When items are linked to square, you can't change any of the numbers or text from the BT side, making it impossible to adjust the wording or totals in a proposal easily. When you do go to update things in square and then sync it back to BT it creates duplicate items that have to be individually deleted one by one. The old buildertrend worked alright; this new builder trend has only taken away functions the old one had, and what was added doesn't work well. The only thing that seems usable is the TODOs for our field crews, but there are no TODOs for the estimating/office people. Our subs and vendors don't use buildertrend so all the fancy communication and scheduling things for them are never used. **What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?** The old buildertrend made things easy to navigate, and the proposals looked nice and organized. The new buildertrend is extremely hard to navigate in the tab windows and has only caused us to export everything to excel and format everything from there. ### 3. They have made several updates in the couple of years that made it harder to use, counter-intuitive and degraded the user experience. The proposals do not look as good as they used to. Cost codes in the worksheet used to be in the same order as the proposal making it very easy to locate line items and make necessary changes. Now they seem to be ordered by category in the worksheet and it doesn't match the structure of the proposals. This makes it very difficult to review and make changes. This is the main reason we left BuilderTrend. **What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?** BuilderTrend used to solve our CRM and proposal needs, however now it is difficult to use. ### 4. Good CRM.
