"Modernizing Hybrid Data Sync: AWS Transfer Family in a Multi‑Account Environment"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

Primary and most important benefit of AWS Transfer Family is that it doenst need any infrastructure. Its works like a plug and play device.

Considering our 48+ AWS acounts fleet and hunderds of Onprem servers from legacy applications, AWS TF plays a very crucial role in data sharing between Onprem and Cloud services we have.

Its inbuilt integration to secrets manager, IAM and Lambda plays avery crucial role in maintaining security on top of its intended functionality.

We use it almost evryday and implementation doesnt need deep technical expertise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

There are no downsides we come across sofar in terms of technicality and I'm very honest about it.

When used in moderation, it fits well with in the budget. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Convenient, Reliable File Transfers with AWS Transfer Family"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

As part of my job at Company, I utilize AWS Transfer Family on a daily basis for the secure transfer of critical files between our internal applications and external partners. I primarily use the AWS Transfer Family service with the SFTP protocol for transferring batch reports and client data directly into Amazon S3, eliminating the requirement for our own file transfer servers. I find the service very reliable and stable, and the AWS IAM integration for permission management is excellent. The dashboards are helpful for monitoring the transfers in progress and for ensuring smooth and uninterrupted workflow execution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

The only limitation is that some advanced features, like cross-region transfers or automation for large volumes, can be a bit tricky for new users. In some cases, troubleshooting failed transfers might require knowledge of multiple AWS services, which might be a bit challenging if you're not already familiar with these services. Be cautious with your costs, as large-volume transfers might increase your costs unexpectedly. Even though this service is very reliable, smaller teams without any AWS knowledge might take a while to set up access controls correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

There is no additional overhead of a FTP Server maintenance.Using AWS Transfer Family, it is easier to create, run, and monitor post upload processing for file transfers over SFTP, FTPS, and FTP. Time can be saved using the low code automation to coordinate all the necessary tasks such as copying, tagging, and decrypting of files . Security features : We can also scan the files for PII, virus/malware, so that anomalies can be detected quickly and compliance requirements met Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

The number of workflows per Region, per account, is limited to 10 and the maximum timeout for custom steps is 30 minutes Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless, Secure File Transfers with Seamless AWS Integration"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

I like best about AWS Transfer Family is how it makes secure file transfers simple, scalable, and fully managed without the operational overhead of maintaining traditional SFTP/FTPS servers.

It seamlessly integrates with Amazon S3 and Amazon EFS, supports standard protocols like SFTP, FTPS, and FTP, and leverages AWS’s built-in security, logging, and compliance features. This allows teams to quickly modernize file-transfer workflows, improve reliability, and scale effortlessly while paying only for what they use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless, Secure File Transfers with Seamless S3/EFS Integration"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

AWS Transfer Family is helpful because it offers a fully managed, secure file transfer service (SFTP/FTPS/FTP) with native S3/EFS integration, no server maintenance, automatic scaling, and strong AWS security & IAM controls, making it easy to handle file transfers reliably and cost-effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

One aspect I find frustrating about AWS Transfer Family is its cost, which can be quite high for users with low or infrequent usage. Additionally, it lacks the level of customization available with self-managed SFTP servers. Its strong integration with AWS storage solutions like S3 and EFS can also limit flexibility, especially for those needing to operate in hybrid or non-AWS environments. "Fully Managed, Serverless File Transfers with Seamless S3 and EFS Integration"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

It provides a fully managed, serverless, and highly available file transfer service (SFTP, FTPS, FTP, AS2), eliminating the need for infrastructure management while still enabling seamless integration with Amazon S3 and EFS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

AWS Transfer Family is often criticized for high and sometimes unpredictable costs, largely due to hourly endpoint fees combined with data transfer charges. This pricing model can make it expensive for low-volume use, steady day-to-day transfers, and even high-volume workloads. Users also report that setup can be complex, requiring substantial IAM and networking knowledge, and they note that customization options are limited compared with self-managed SFTP servers. "Effortless File Transfers with Seamless S3 Integration"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

AWS Transfer Family has made our file-transfer workflows dramatically simpler. We replaced legacy SFTP/FTP servers with a fully managed service that plugs directly into our S3 buckets. The setup is straightforward, the service scales automatically, and we no longer worry about patching, uptime, or maintaining Linux servers. Identity options are flexible whether using IAM, service-managed users, or a custom identity provider. I also appreciate the deep integration with CloudWatch and CloudTrail for monitoring and auditing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

Pricing can feel a bit high for low-volume transfers, and the cost structure (per hour + per GB transferred) requires careful monitoring. Configuration for custom identity providers could be more intuitive, and the AS2 setup is powerful but not as well documented as it could be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"AWS Transfer Family Makes Secure File Transfers Simple and Reliable"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

The biggest advantage is how easy it is to set up and manage secure file transfers while staying within the AWS ecosystem. Built-in support for standard protocols like SFTP and seamless integration with IAM and S3 make access control and auditing much simpler. It scales automatically, which is helpful as file volumes grow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

What I dislike about AWS Transfer Family is that pricing and usage costs are not always very transparent at first, especially as transfer volumes increase. Monitoring costs requires extra attention to avoid surprises. Also, while setup is generally straightforward, configuring IAM roles and permissions can be confusing for users who are newer to AWS. "Secure, Scalable File Transfers Without the Infrastructure Headache"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

What I like most about AWS Transfer Family is how easily it enables secure file transfers using familiar protocols such as SFTP, FTPS, and FTP, without requiring me to manage any underlying infrastructure. It’s highly reliable, integrates smoothly with Amazon S3 and EFS, and scales automatically as needed. Overall, it saves time, reduces operational overhead, and helps ensure secure data exchange. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

One downside of AWS Transfer Family is the cost, especially for low-volume or intermittent file transfers, since the pricing can add up quickly. In addition, customization options and advanced workflow controls feel somewhat limited. Troubleshooting can also be challenging, largely because the logging is less granular than what you might get with a fully self-managed solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Secure, Scalable File Transfers with Seamless S3/EFS Integration"
What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

AWS Transfer Family makes it easy to securely transfer files using familiar protocols like SFTP, FTPS, and FTP without managing servers. The tight integration with Amazon S3 and Amazon EFS simplifies storage and access, while built-in security features such as IAM-based access control, encryption, and logging ensure compliance. Its fully managed, scalable, and highly available nature reduces operational overhead and allows us to focus on business needs rather than infrastructure management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

AWS Transfer Family can be relatively expensive compared to self-managed SFTP solutions, especially for high-volume or long-running transfers. Customization options are limited since it is a fully managed service, which can be restrictive for advanced workflows or protocol-level tuning. Troubleshooting can also be challenging due to limited visibility into the underlying infrastructure, and costs can be less predictable when usage scales unexpectedly.
