It requires familiarity with IAM policies, S3 bucket permissions, and endpoint configurations. Also, the UI for monitoring and managing transfer is less intuitive. AWS Transfer Family has helped us solve the hassle of managing our own SFTP servers. We needed a way to securely exchange files with external vendors and partners, and this service made it incredibly easy by letting us use familiar protocols like SFTP and FTPS while storing everything directly in Amazon S3. It’s been a big win in terms of saving time. we don’t have to worry about server maintenance, uptime, or scaling. Plus, the security controls with IAM give us peace of mind. Okay so this is a great one, I used this in the past to implement some great solutions for pulling in the invoices and uploading it to the S3 bucket. I was on a free tier though, and I somehow triggered something which billed me a lot. ( They are not great about putting asterisks on limits and have a separate page for it, but otherwise great service). Why I mentioned this is because Amazon took this as a mistake and refunded me the charge which is amazing. Also, if you are admin like myself, you can monitor every piece of log, date of upload, username, and every activity under Amazon CloudWatch and you can access it using any SFTP client which is so amazing. The documentation on free tier that what is free and what not is not great. You can get charged a lot, but if you are integrating this to an actual environment, it saves a lot of hassles. What problems is AWS Transfer Family solving and how is that benefiting you? As I mentioned we tested this on an invoice system, which makes this great for Medical billing. This supports SFTP which means that you can use Filezilla, Wincscp or something else to upload CSV, JSON, or PDF invoice and this will trigger the S3 event notification as first event and Parse and Store in DynamoDB and then it checks read and write permission for the IAM user and the processed documents can be seen easily on S3 bucket. It solves the problem of buying expensive Medical billing software which can have too many issues like OpenText TCM products which can be used for similar functionality but you need to have your own ANS drives and you need to work with complex API's which is just a pain.
