What do you like best about Arctera Backup Exec?

Veritas backup software is a friendly user backup software which is safe and secure by all means and well protected with all features including cloud storage protection as well.

The best GUI which i have ever seen compared to other complex softwares and with a very good track record of backing of Veritas for a long period in the backup industry as a leader.

The ease of use for any simple new user with very minimal clicks to enable, schedule or restore backups is the core of this application Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

Login screen to be enabled with MFA enabling is one point which i would prefer to be enabled with users being given acess based on their roles which is not there. In simple terms Role based access control to be enabled.

Also the report generation is not automated in such a way that it can be saved in a different location in a different server which has to be done manually which is a very time consuming and a monotonuous task Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Arctera Backup Exec solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps in restoring data w.r.t to any application or file server with ease and minimal timing rather than complex workarounds in other backup applications which i have seen already

Also scheduling the jobs once and automated is a very good feature based on the requirement of the stake holders of the concerned server.

The simple licensing method is another benefit which is quite not common feature in other backup applications.

Also the pricing of licence is cheap compared to other backup applications Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Arctera Backup Exec?

The product works for the most part as it should. It runs backups and allows me to restore files and/or vm's as necessary. I also use it to run SQL and O365 backups. That part works well. The interface is fairly easy to use, although not as easy as some other products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

Restoring Office365 items has been a bad experience so far. There is no way to restore to a local pst file, rather you have to restore to an Office 365 account. This takes significant time and expensive resources. Every other backup product I have ever used had this functionality. "I have been using Backup Exec for 20 years!"

What do you like best about Arctera Backup Exec?

For over 20 years, our organization has been using Backup Exec. From the older versions of the software with our HP tape drives & media to our current environment with Dell PowerVault hardware and LTO tapes, BE has always been a crucial part of our disaster recovery plan. We still have legacy hardware in place and have multiple instances of Backup Exec 2010 R3 still running strong. This version of the software is, without a doubt, one of the most reliable products I have ever used! There were some growing pains with newer versions after 2010, as they tried to modernize the software while unfortunately removing the simplicity that made it great. This is the reason we have stuck with v2010 for so long.

Last year after a server crash, we reinstalled with v2021. I was pleased to find that this version was still easy to use for our daily file backups while having other features for modern IT. Aside from backup to tape, I have also used backup to disk and have successfully backed up & restored a server on Hyper-V. Today, we are on v2022, which looks the same as v2021.

As a registered charity organization, we are always looking for vendors that offer nonprofit discounts. I cannot give enough praise to Veritas for being a TechSoup donation program member for all these years! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

My only complaint would be when major changes are made to new versions. Adding new features is good, but don't mess with the core functionality that most people are used to and rely on! I have no complaints about the current version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
