"Decades of using Backup Exec"

3/5

What do you like best about Arctera Backup Exec?

The most useful aspect and benefit to our organization in using Backup Exec is writing to tape to take offsite. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

What I dislike most is the slow speed of the backup despite our investments in the latest servers and tape libraries. That has caused our backup window to grow excessively beyond a reasonable size. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Veritas need to add feature to their product, like sync option to full beside differential backup"

4/5

What do you like best about Arctera Backup Exec?

I like the support of veritas, but they still need to add qualified staff; my last call wtih vetitas support went for more than 2 hours to resolve my issue, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

I don't want the system recovery running individually in each server, i want to have a server version of System recovery, so we can image all servers from one console, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Works well with small data backups"

4/5

What do you like best about Arctera Backup Exec?

Highly recommended for small backup jobs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

Doesn't work well with large data backups, over 2 TB, as jobs sent to tapes tend to timeout and not back up data. Never really know if I have a good backup unless I restore it onto another device. Most backups jobs tend to be incomplete on large backups, and I have to cancel them; some run for 2-6 days, only partially backing up or without backing up anything. "Reliable, cost effective, agile, and dependable. Everything you need for a backup solution!"

5/5

What do you like best about Arctera Backup Exec?

It doesn't matter who owns BackupExec, the application remains fundamentally the same. Tons of backup options for any type of destination storage location. The remote server agent is lightweight, and just works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

Reattaching moved or 'lost storage' (say after a reinstall) is painful. Catalog works, inventory usually fails (but at least now completes all files except those failed!). Updates on remote agent always require reboot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Arctera Backup Exec solving and how is that benefiting you?

BackupExec is used for non-critical server backups on local storage (Critical backups use offsite DRAAS). It also does production backups to cloud (Monthly for 6 months). It also does accounting backups (legally required & audited yearly) to cloud (Monthly for 12 months & Yearly for 7 years). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

Compared to other competitors, Cost of Volume / capacity licenses is slightly higher, however BEWS Support has always been good providing quick resolution, Bug fix and EEBs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"BKE Simple and Powerful"

5/5

What do you like best about Arctera Backup Exec?

The user experience is very friendly.

BKE is a very powerful tool that helps to protect workloads, doesn’t matter where (local or cloud).

If comparing BKE with the competitors is possible to validate how simple is to protect and recover different types of data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Arctera Backup Exec?

Managing more than one BKE server sometimes takes more time and knowledge because for example, when the services need to be restarted on an individual server, is it not so simple to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
