"Put realistic textures and materials for wonderful 3d modelling and animation"

What do you like best about Adobe Substance 3D Painter?

As I have been using Adobe Creative Suite for the past 3–4 years, I recently started learning 3D modeling, and then I got to know about Substance 3D Painter, which is an industry-based texturing and materialising software. I love using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Substance 3D Painter?

It doesn't allow moving texture directly to our preferred modelling software like 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, Blender. Also, expecting UVW Unwrap accessibilities tool in the future update. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Substance 3D Painter, A Powerful 3D Painting Tool"
5/5
What do you like best about Adobe Substance 3D Painter?

I have been using Substance Painter for several years now from before Adobe's acquisition of Allegorithmic, since I've delved into this piece of software I can say it makes quickly creating your base textures a breeze as well as allowing you to finely detail each aspect of your texture with layer and layer blending you'd find in Image Editing software like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, and GIMP. This ability to take my expertise in Raster image editing software and applying to in 3D rather the just editing flat 2D texture maps allows for placing detail the way you want it to look directly on your 3D model and with its sister program Substance Designer you can author PBR files and use them directly between each program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Substance 3D Painter?

I dislike that Adobe has turned it into another Software as a Service element creative professionals need to shell out money each month for continued use. I was fortunate enough to have bought a perpetual license from Allegorithmic before Adobe's acquisition so I'm not paywalled out of just using the software. I also found some aspects like opacity mapping and some blending options to not work how they should and it sometimes made making transparent or semi-transparent elements to be more difficult to create. It speeds up the asset preparation workflow, and makes it so easy to paint realistic custom graphics on a model. The export process has been refined to help export the correct maps for the correct modelling software/render plugin. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Substance 3D Painter?

Sometimes if you have a directional pattern, it can be tricky to paint to the model, but this can help if you set up your UVs as best as possible to account for this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
