### 1. ZBrush – Where Unlimited Detail Meets Pure Creative Freedom

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ♠ Äñkµr G. | 3D modeling and texturing Artist , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2026

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

What I like best about ZBrush is its unmatched ability to handle millions of polygons effortlessly while giving me total creative freedom to sculpt ultra-detailed characters, creatures, and hard-surface models with the precision, flexibility, and natural feel of working with real clay—without any technical limitations slowing down my imagination.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

What I dislike about ZBrush is its outdated and unintuitive interface, which feels confusing and inconsistent compared to other 3D software, making the learning curve steeper than it should be and slowing down new users before they can fully unlock its powerful sculpting capabilities.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ZBrush solves the problem of creating extremely high-detail 3D models without performance limitations, allowing me to sculpt millions of polygons smoothly, experiment freely with forms using tools like Dynamesh, and focus purely on creativity instead of worrying about topology or system lag—ultimately speeding up my workflow and helping me produce production-ready characters and assets more efficiently.

 ### 2. Zbrush; one of the best sculpting softwares.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Genaro S. | Graphic designer and animator., Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2026

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

It is one of the best sculpting software options on the market. You can use any type of image to create a sculpture using a variety of methods. Its ZRemodeler tool is very useful, offering many options to model objects in various file formats (OBJ, FBX, etc.).

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

Its bevel option for the ZRemodeler option is very limited; it's very tricky and its UV master is very simple for hard surfaces.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I gain total artistic freedom. I can experiment rapidly with shapes and silhouettes using various methods, making the creative process faster and more intuitive.

 ### 3. My personal experiences with Zbrush

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon L. | Intermediate Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2025

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Its very robust. You can achieve a lot of detail when it comes to refining existing 3D assets and touching up older assets as well. Once you become comfortable with the interface and the different brush types, its very easy to use. On top of that, the workflow integration is very simple and straightforward.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

There's a learning curve involved, which should be apparent upfront. You should be at least a little bit familiar with 3D modeling fundamentals. Even if you just jump in by the seat of your pants, that's fine, but don't expect overnight mastery. Temper your expectations out of what you want from it.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its allowing for me to achieve more in-depth detailing for 3D models, which is super-useful, especially for models that deserve that extra bump in quality.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Being able to tone down resolutions to make major adjustments then upres the model to fine tune everything, you can then go back and forth between very high res and low res models making tweaks and adjustments throughout. It is easy to use and should be a tool every 3D artist can trust frequently as an aid in modelling and texturing their models.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

It is only mainly for modelling - I wish it had a rigging system not just the ZSpheres that it currently supports

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Expedites the time it would have taken to model, modify or adjust high resolution models

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akash M. | Colorist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Of course the ease of sculpting creatures. And, the best thing - you can above 10 million poly in your model and yet it won't lagg in a decent system. Even softwares like Maya can compete

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

Handling reference images whole sculpting can be improved as you and probably a dock that holds all your reference images can be incorporated in the user interface.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I own a very low level workstation and I can still model high details assets effortlessly which is remarkable and rare to find. Also the zplugin and other plugins that helps in creating the base model of a creature.

 ### 13. Zbrush are amazing softwear for creating creative 3D characters or avatar

 ### 14. The Best Sculpting software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan S. | Freelance Artist & Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2022

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

The performance of ZBrush is excellent. Sculpting tools best of class & is very well supported by an active community

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The UI is still difficult to master especially if you don't use it everyday. Also the support structures have recently changed making it less attractive to own a perpetual license rather than to subscribe to the software.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I usually start sculpts in Blender because I find it easier to blockout & being a sculpt, but when I reach a polycount that Blender will start to struggle with I know that ZBrush will handle it flawlessly. This helps me to create higher detailed models than I would be able to otherwise.

 ### 15. Most Powerful Software I have ever used

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rishikesh B. | Sr. Technical Program Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2022

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

The amount of features and customization for the textures and designs is awesome. I could even scan natural textures and input them in Zbrush to design a natural texture. It's amazing.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The system is very heavy. It requires a huge processing power. Which is understood as it's such powerful software. I got better results on a desktop compared to a laptop

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I created textures of my 3D printing parts. Functional textures to improve the grip and reduce the printing lines was often the problem I solved using Zbrush. I also created tonnes of aesthetic textures as well.

 ### 16. A stunning way to unleash creativity and sculpt whatever you have in mind

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mauro L. | Mechanical engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2022

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

The work environment is addictive, you can sculpt and practice all day as you feel comfortable. The tools were developed like no other 3d software, a unique experience to create without limits while the software refines all the details for you.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The amount of menus and tools on the home screen can confuse beginners, as much as it is an addictive experience, the environment is not interactive at all. You have to put in effort on the first try to sculpt a simple design.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

ZBrush is not just limited to artists who work professionally, you should definitely try the powerful tools it offers and implement it into your workflow.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ZBrush whenever I need to mold a part superficially, the tools available are premium, especially when it comes to retopology. The work is done by dividing the object into polygroups which makes the finalization of the topology much easier.

 ### 17. Best of the best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ensar H. | Lead 3D Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2022

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

I like all the possibilities with Zbrush. You can create whatever you want. It is good for hard surface modeling, organic modeling, sculpting, and what not. You can easily do texturing in Zbrush as well as modeling for 3D printing. You can even do models ready for CNC machine.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The The user interface is a little bit tricky to handle, especially when starting. Later on, you can be fast by implementing your configuration of the UI. It is a must-have. Other than that I don't think Zbrush has any flaws. Very rarely I have crashes.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

If you do modeling, Zbrush is a must have. The software has so much possibilities but you need to be really good at it. Once you understand the workflows you can create whatever you want. Suggestion for all the new users is don't get scared by the "complexity" of the UI. It will take a while to figure it out, but later it will be worth it.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my case, I am realistically doing organic modeling and sculpting. From there, I am importing to rendering software. Sometimes I do texturing too. Also, If i have to add any micro surface detail, I do it in Zbrush. If you are a game designer, you can use this software from top to bottom. If you have a high poly model, you can easyily make a retopo version and export. Also, I have created many models ready for 3d print.

 ### 18. BEST SOFTWARE FOR 3D SCLUPTING ARTIST

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** piyush n. | 3D Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2022

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

I like all the things in ZBrush, like Topology, 3d paint, Sculpting, ZRemesher, and a lot of stuff. I am very addicted to sculpting tools, you can make your imaging in the 3d world.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

Some it's crash between work, I think it can be improved on interface layout otherwise all is good.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I solve a lot of problems in Zbrush like topology, high to low poly model, Sometimes correcting the model details and exporting high detailing the model.

 ### 19. The best app for 3D sculpting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Davron K. | 3d game designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2021

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

The best sculpting application on the market. The ability to create anything roughly from a single sphere, creating living geometry as well as hard surface models, makes Zbrush a versatile tool for the 3D artist.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

There's nothing I don't like about Zbrush. In the five years I've been working with this monster, I've had nothing but positive experiences. Almost all tasks can be completed successfully in Zbrush, making it a potent tool.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work with creating clothes, processing after other applications. Zbrush allows you to breathe life into a garment. Add pleats, fix geometry where needed, and Zbrush will enable you to work with a huge number of polygons, which no other app I work with can do. 20 million, 50 million, no problem. Also, creating meshes from scratch, working with polygons looks like working with clay in 3D space. It's fascinating. You can sculpt the desired asset out of nothing...

 ### 20. When it comes to sculpting, there is no match to it. The leader in industry.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Garvit G. | 3D Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2022

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

The optimization of the software is really good, you can throw millions of polygons to it and it can still handle them.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

Many people would agree with me, the navigation and interface of zbrush still sucks. It is a part of pipeline so should guve option to make navigation same as other 3d software.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Zbrush is a very overwhelming software. If you are a beginner, start with small things first and then move up to the ladder.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It really helps to add details in the models. It really helps to optimize our workflow.

 ### 21. The Quintessential Sculpting Tool for 3D Artists

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andi S. | Website Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2021

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

ZBrush has been the industry standard in 3D sculpting for over a decade and despite competition from other companies - some of which integrate sculpting directly into their main applications - it remains the absolute king of digital clay. It features a wide array of tools that allow the user to sculpt on a pre-existing mesh or create an entirely new one from nothing but a simple shape. It can handle MILLIONs of polygons (depending on your machine specs of course) and multiple tools in one file. It has the ability to keep track of your subdivisions as you sculpt as well as the ability to dynamically sculpt and add detail and then re-mesh for clean and even topology over and over. It also features automatic retopology, the ability to create and customize both traditional alpha brushes as well as vector displacement brushes, and the ability to create brushes to insert geometry into any project allowing you to readily access repeatedly used meshes such as eyes, teeth, and the like. Really, the amount of tools and settings ZBrush offers is overwhelming at times but once you've gotten into the software and really dived in with a project you'll see just how much potential this one application has.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

Where ZBrush really hurts is the interface. It's...bad. It's unlike any other software I've ever used for any purpose and it creates an incredibly steep learning curve for new users. Honestly, it makes the Blender interface seem logical albeit Blender has made several improvements over the years whereas ZBrush remains largely the same. If you decide to get into ZBrush, this is going to be the biggest hurdle to overcome in order to take full advantage of the software's capabilities.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

If you're on a tight budget there are other options to consider but they simply won't compete with ZBrush. Make the investment!

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I generally model before I sculpt so my workflow usually goes: Model in Maya -> layout UVs, ensure animate-able topology, etc.. -> Details in ZBrush -> export high and low poly meshes for baking. You CAN start with nothing but a sphere in ZBrush and work toward a model that you would then retopologize. ZBrush's workflow is fairly open-ended which is perfect for any artist who wants to do things their way and whatever is most efficient for the individual. The community-driven asset library of brushes, insert meshes, alphas, and so on, also makes ZBrush really powerful and allows you to create high detail meshes in far less time than it would take to do the same level of detail not even a decade ago.

 ### 22. Well Worth the Cost!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

At first, I was hesitant about purchasing this software just with the price tag, but it is worth every penny! The number of functions that this comes with and the ability to customize everything about the user interface makes it incredibly easy for someone to set it up just for their workflow.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The difference between the subscription-based and the perpetual license is a new normal that I am not a fan of for most programs. Luckily this one still provides a perpetual license if one wants, just without the upgrades.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

If you genuinely want to do high-end 3D sculpting, you will get everything you need out of the program. The price tag is very steep, but if you can save up enough for it, you won't regret the purchase.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted to take my 3D modeling to the next level and was having trouble doing that with the programs that I had. ZBrush is feature-rich and is undoubtedly the top o the line with 3D sculpting.

 ### 23. That everyone will use for a long time

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ilya C. | Curator of the course "Super Maya", Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2021

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Most irreplaceable and best app I've ever used. This gap changed the gaming industry to provide artists with incredible opportunities forever. The new quality of graphite in games is only due to the appearance of this program, which allows you to create high-polygonal models for further work with them. A deceptively complex interface that is truly created just for convenience to allow you to create to the next level, brushes, effects and working with organics have never been at such a high level

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The program crashes, but this is due to the program code itself

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Without this, you will not be able to create good-quality graphics on your assets.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create high-poly models in it with minor details for further work with my model.

 ### 24. AVTPro: Zbrush from Novice to Museum Master.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alonzo V. | VFX Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2021

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Zbrush is the leading artistic digital sculpture tool on the market. To coin the adage, if you can think it, you can do it. Literally, sometimes I am so impressed with Zbrush I believe the developers at Pixologic have stolen Alien technology. They have ways of addressing and solving modeling design problems that seem other worldly but so intuitive it's like you already have it stored in the back of your mind and they simply unlocked the knowledge. That says a lot for an artist like me who started as a 2D Oil Painter before computers were a thing. The common denominator between Zbrush and traditional painter is the "Brush". Zbrush uses a painterly brush paradigm to sculpt digital 3D form. You can pull, push, sculpt, chisel with the brush tools in Zbrush with a stylus or electronic pencil. So it feels really natural to most artist. I immediately fell in love with Zbrush when I realize I no longer had to poke and pick at individual points or segments in a poly-box, cage-modeling workflow. To this day that is tedious and unintuitive to me because their no natural artistic mediums that uses such a workflow. In Zbrush you sweep across surfaces and multitudes of polys, point and segment without ever thinking of their digital construction. It's an art tool not just a 3D tool. However, like every art tool, it still takes practice. Design is a process just like sculpting or any part of art. So you won't become a Museum modeler over night, but neither did I. My goal was to be as good with Zbrush as I am with a pencil and I have met the challenge. Just keep studying tutorials, and one day, it will all click.
With the addition of ZModeler, even box modeling is much more intuitive than most, hard surface box modeling workflows. So building mechanical geometry seem effortless when it use to be a grudge match of getting the right tools for every operation. Extruding faces, inserting edge loops or bridging holes would have you jumping all over the interface in any other 3D modeler. Now everything is one button in Zmodeler, the space bar. Tapping the space bar would lead to a menu set where any operation can be selected. This seems complex at first but it's only 3D group, operation, target, and modifiers. Zmodeler complete the whole gamut of industry trades. With Zbrush I have done characters, portraits, super heroines, toys, dolls, parts, ceramics, and museum resculpts from Lidar or scratch.
An Pro modeler or beginner can do all of it in one applications. Hair, fur, concepting, kitbash, robots, elephants and flowers. I have design space helmets, monsters and spaceships for games. Often times they are used for 3D printing. I'm talking life size sculptures! The same data can be used for animating storys in an animation package.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

This is the first time I would have difficulty answering this part of the review because what's not to like in ZBrush? Even with their payment plans, I bought a perpetual license a decade ago and never had to pay for another upgrade. It's free upgrades. I could only wish other vendors were so forward thinking as Pixologic.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

As with all digital tech, study it. Do tutorials. You'll be up and running in no time.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Every 3D problem I have to solve usually involves ZBrush. I remember years ago, exporting a character from Daz 3D would create seams and gaps. I imported it into ZBrush and it only took one click to weld seams. I use Zbrush for painting textures directly on the model. UV layouts or even lowering the resolution of a model is quick in Zbrush.

Most in 3d industry are doing digital sculpting in this software. And you can simulate cloth also.

 ### 29. ZBrush is a powerful modeling tool, but it has a steep learning curve and can be a bit pricey

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda M. | 3D Modeler, Animation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

I like that ZBrush allows for natural, organic modeling. It's my preferred software for soft surface modeling. The built in basic brushes are excellent for beginning modeling, and there are plenty of other brushes you can purchase or find open source on line. The multimesh brushes are, in-particular, very useful and convenient to use. I also enjoy that they added folders to sort geometry, but they operate a bit weirdly.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

ZBrush can be a bit pricey and it has a very steep learning curve, especially coming from a modeling program like Autodesk Maya. It has some weird bugs and it can crash often, but autosave is generally helpful for that aspect. The way that ZBrush conducts booleans is kind of strange too, but at least that feature exists. For hard surface modeling, it's really strange to use the lightbox - but I consider ZBrush to be a soft surface modeling software anyways

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

ZBrush is an excellent tool to use for organic modeling - if you haven't learned how to use it, I would recommend getting someone to show you the ropes, because it operates a bit weird

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits of ZBrush are that it's infinity easy to create organic models in it over Autodesk Maya, I also love the UV unwrapping tools and the ease of painting textures using polypaint. The ZBursh community is also a huge aspect of the benefits of ZBrush, as everyone is kind and very giving with feedback

 ### 31. The Standard for a Reason

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea M. | 3D Artist, Entertainment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2019

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

The flexibility that the software enables you to have is one of a kind. Pixologic has the artist in mind when pumping out new features. Sculpting is just the tip of the iceberg, as you advance and learn the different thoughtful tools within the program, you will come to learn just how flexible of a software it is. From 2D rendering, 3D printing, clean up, and procedural tasks as well, you wont have a lack of something new to discover.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

ZBrush by the lovely people at Pixologic can be very very daunting to learn if you've never seen it. Mainly to be frank is because there is nothing else like it. It can follow the trends of traditional modelling requirements or break out for maximum artistic and expressive freedom. My advice is to take it slow, pick one small project of feature you want to learn at a time and you will slowly build up all the tools needed to achieve your artistic goals.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Take your time when learning ZBrush, don't be fooled by the many menus. There are plenty of intro resources available to learn from that will break everything down and get you creating what you need in no time. Enjoy the process of learning this amazing software!

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used Zbrush to fix horrible meshes that were unusable.I've used it for sculpting out characters and poses to get approved for various character projects. I have also been using it for taking care of 3D printing solutions. It's integration with other software is very handy.

 ### 32. ZBrush the best for the bests

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sebastian F. | Desarrollador de videojuegos, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2019

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Since ZBrush went to public more that 10 years ago it change the 3d industry forever. All mayor hollywood productions, blockbusters games use ZBrush in a way or another.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The principal disventage a notice is that you don't have a lot of options for animations and for a new user the UI may seem strange, because its different to the 3d software standars.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

At first you have to be patince with the UI and tools but in the moment you learn some of them instantly you will becane in love of the software and you will use it for a long time.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are modeling all our 3d characters in ZBrush because is the only software that allow us to sculp fast with millons of polygons.

 ### 33. Not a software for beginners.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan T. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2019

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

I like how the models can be sculpted and manipulated in real time. Unlike another program I’ve used, changes happen in real time with Zbrush.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The software is a bit difficult to get used to. Especially the way saving is implemented. I feel like I have to search for menu items that should have a hot key.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

There is a beginner course on Lynda that helps quite a bit.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My sculpt has been challenging yet I am very pleased with how it looks. If we continue this software in the future I hope that the forums are updated with current bugs and usage questions.

 ### 34. Most admired Sculpting software in the market

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Praneeth K. | Business Development Executive , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2019

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

I use ZBrush at my work location where we do sculpting for 3D models for various clients. Really love the way it performs. ZBrush has not disappointed me in features / functionalities. I like ZRemesher which automatically fixes the mesh flow. Rendering in ZBrush is awesome and the views are like a charm. Effects applied on the models are very good infact.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

ZBrush has got all whims and fancies but one can capitalize on all features only with the Pentab, which is again a costly affair to purchase a dedicated device. No pentab low perfection. Apart from that, Modelling on ZBrush is bit complicated when compared with peers in the market. Not a big fan of pipeline and drawing where ZBrush lags behind a far of the competition. I wish there were more brushes by default instead of downloading them after purchase.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Just go with it as it has all features and also I like the tutorials which they offer for free of cost. End of the day, it makes your models very attractive and your life easy

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me to carve the 3D models in our project right from all sculpting, meshing and drawing processes. My clients really love the way the output what ZBrush brings on the models. ZBrush adds perfection to the models which adds value for the end output.

 ### 35. Great tool for organic modeling. Steep learning curve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacqueline A. | Freelance Graphic Designer, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2018

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

I love that I can customize my workspace to make it less overwhelming to use. There is a lot you can do with this program from making highly realistic models to more cartoony or stylized ones. It's fun to play around with. I one day would like to use this program for 3D printing my models.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

I like and dislike that there are a lot of features. I was lucky enough to use this program a LOT in college but if you're someone who's just learning for a hobby I would recommend something more like Sculptris, where there is not a lot of extra stuff to work with or blender. But either of these programs I would highly recommend using a site like Skillshare or Lynda they'll help a lot!

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

I would try something like Blender or Sculptris first to see if it's something you enjoy before investing into Zbrush. But if you really enjoy 3D modeling then Zbrush is a must have! There are a lot of tutorials out there for you to help you understand the program more!.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating new characters or designs. I also want to make product designs and other designs in the future.

 ### 36. The best digital sculpting program period

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isaac P. | Creative dIrector, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2019

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

For artists with strong traditional sculpting backgrounds, nothing can match the scope and robustness of Zbrush. The core brushes are all named so that someone with a traditional sculpting background will know them intuitively. The brush building controls are deep and give you massive control over every aspect of how the brush affects the model. The alpha system is a breeze and the renderer is very capable although I would still suggest using an external renderer.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The UI at times can be difficult to navigate if you're coming from "traditional modeling suits" however it is highly customizable.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Sculpting in clay and using tools in real life will improve your work in ZBrush massively over time.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Zbrush has dramatically improved my workflow. The time it takes to go from concept to a high poly character model has been shrunk from a few days to a few hours. The time savings have allowed a deepening of detail in the final models. Because of that, we do all our detail sculpts in Zbrush.

 ### 37. Most Intuitive Sculpting Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2019

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

I love all of the recent ease-of-use additions...such as folders, the gizmo tool, and deformers. Definitely makes it easier to stay organized and make quick adjustments.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

It crashes A LOT and often does so without quick-saving or creating a recovered file. Occasionally the auto-save feature stops working and then you are left with a lot of work to redo if it crashes. Scale can also be an issue while sculpting objects that will be 3D printed.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Great for intuitive sculpting. If you need to do very technical sculpting poly-by-poly, Maya may be your best bet.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I sculpt for the toy industry, so Zbrush is a great way to quickly make big design changes, vs. something more meticulous like Maya. There are also functionalities to make sculpts print-ready.

 ### 38. Zbrush review

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

the manipulation is a bit different than the other 3d software

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

besides having the knowledge of how the zBrush works you also need to have a good artistic and sculpting skills with this tow you will be super good in it

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it`s an essential tool in any visual effects or feature film company, it gives you the ability to put your character to a higher level

 ### 40. The Ultimate Sculpting Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cherylynn L. | Art Director & 3D Generalist for "Keep in Mind", Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2018

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Zbrush is hands-down the most advanced modeling/sculpting software on the market. It is designed in such a way that it can handle millions upon millions of polys even on bad laptops (like mine), it is intuitive to learn, and within a few days you can be making things you're really proud of.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

Like all my problems with software, I'd have to say it's its UI design. Not intuitive, and a lot of key functionalities are hidden within submenus I won't even know about unless I stumble across it.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Do the trial, and then really decide if it's something you'll find essential-- it's an expensive program!

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use zbrush for my daily job when making models for clients. I've realized its a great concept/iteration tool, as you can make fully fleshed out models relatively quickly.

 ### 41. Industry standard, but in desperate need of streamlined UI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2019

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Once you get to an 'expert' user level, it's incredibly powerful. The ability to simplify processes by creating custom brushes, tools, etc. is very useful.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The learning curve is steep... almost vertical, and the documentation on many of the features is nearly non-existent. I've learned more from the artistic community than from Pixologic regarding their software.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ZBrush is the industry standard for high-res sculpted geometry. Without it, we couldn't be competitive in the game development industry.

 ### 42. The best software on the market for 3D Sculpting.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Piero M. | Spanish Interpreter, Translation and Localization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2018

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Custom brushes creation and the extend amount of possibilities combining the alpha feature. It also has the ZRemesher and Dynamesh features that other 3D programs does not bring.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

It can definitely be very daunting to use at first and very difficult for beginners to learn so many features all at once.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Have patience with topology and read a lot about topology and subdivisions and how they work in zbrush before trying to dive in to the program directly.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The sculpting part is way better than many other programs that have the same features. Making it more accurate for realism, and more high end results and also how subtools and layers work.

 ### 43. Sculpting like with real clay and more

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julien M. | Numeric director , Computer Games, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2017

The power of theses differents tools like the new boolean , or the polygon modelisation tools and the new guizmo (4r8 version)
The workflow with different levels of details .
His possibility of customization .
His high level of tweaking in his differents tools .
That is not just a sculpting software but also a good renderer
The large amont of tutorials , tips ,help etc.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

His complexity for the new users .
It's not perfect for low poly and uv mapping

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

It's a very good software for the sculpting ( in details ) , and his new updates make it much easier and fun to use

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Zbrush , I could create character from scratch for many of our projects . And it's a good showcase for the customer.

**Reviewed by:** Javier C. | Junior Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2018

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

I like the freedom the software grants in order to model complex geometries and apply details and patterns to it. It is basically a software to sculpt. I also appreciate the good connectivity/relation Zbrush has with other softwares like Maya;

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

I miss the precision you get in Rhinoceros or Sketchup. It is really difficult understand the scale of the objects.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a perfect tool for sketching on 3d and give form to the ideas you have on mind. It is a good tool to have a first contect with your design.

 ### 45. Made modeling easier for me

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2018

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

The ability to dynamesh different geometry into one. So i can get basic primitives from maya and merge them in zbrush.

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

I would like it to be integrated within a 3d software rather than having to use a different platform. I also dont like the fact that I have to use the interface very differently from Maya. The time spent mastering the software could be utilized on something else. Also learning a new software might prevent people from using it.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

It might be a little difficult to get used to a new interface, but it is worth learning if you wish to pursue modeling.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it has made modeling more approchable for me.

 ### 46. Zbrush allowed me to flesh out my ideas more quickly

**What do you like best about ZBrush?**

Lots of fun. You can make and do almost anything that you can imagine. There are very few limitations when i comes to 3D sculpting with ZBrush

**What do you dislike about ZBrush?**

The learning curve was steep! You need to take the time to learn the interface and features and stick with it. The interface is pretty unique compared to other 3D design software and is easy to forget. Once you know how to control it, it's a lot of fun.

**Recommendations to others considering ZBrush:**

Take the time to learn how to use it porphyry.

**What problems is ZBrush solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sculpting and shaping organic shapes that other software like Solidworks and Rhino cannot do.
