## Plum Reviews
  ### 1. Comprehensive software for all talent related solutions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Plum?**

It is an easy-to-use software that offers an in-depth analysis of the current workforce. It objectively looks various parameters to determine accurate qualities of the employees, thus helping in mapping the crew's skill level.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

It is comprehensive but fails to consider regional data filters, often necessary when dealing with a small office or a localised branch requiring employees from the same city/community/region.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being a user, Plum helps in identifying and understanding the areas where I lack the necessary skills. It helps highlight the spikes in the resume so that I can further strengthen my case. Through its plethora of tests, one can learn and improve in personal areas, which is also very satisfying.

  ### 2. A revolutionary platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Smriti S. | Employee Resource Center, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Plum helps organizations in making better talent decisions. It also offers great scalability.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Nothing so far. It has worked perfectly well so far.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It definitelty has helped me in taking better talent decisions and improved the candidate experience.

  ### 3. Helpful tool but don’t make it your only one

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Plum?**

It's useful to weed out people too lazy to complete an application

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The results are not reliable. We found people that scored high 90s that turned out to be terrible employees and visa versa

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Screening candidates is a bit easier with plum

  ### 4. Fantastic pre-qualifier in the interview process.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

The fact that the hiring team sets individual match criteria. Also that it gives candidates a detailed overview of their results so that they get something out of the assessment as well.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

It's not easy to pull a report of the candidates results. While the SSO is convenient, some hiring managers at certain levels cannot/reuse to take the time to sign in and search per candidates name. I like for managers to be able to have a PDF of the candidates resume and any assessment the candidate has completed during their interview so that the hiring manager can reference these items with ease. I attach these PDF's in the email invitation for their convenience and would like to be able to have a downloadable PDF of the candidates Plum results.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Eliminating candidates that do not have the core required talents up-front. Also being able to ask more focused questions during the interview to fully assess their skills. Time is being saved and interviews are more effective.

  ### 5. Insightful Way To Assess Candidates

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kip K. | Operating Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Plum uses an easy to complete survey when you are determining what is needed in a specific new role you are creating. The results are then compared to what the candidates complete. The resulting scores are very insightful and have identified issues to probe with candidates before a final decision is made.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I'm still not quite sure what the "science" is behind all of this - a deeper explanation of the "why it works" would be helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Good way to supplement your current HR hiring process

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making sure we have selected the best candidate for the role. Plum helps identify issues that you might miss using a regular interviewing process.

  ### 6. Plum - great assesment tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aernout v. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

The Match Criteria we use (Innovation, Persuasion, Adaptation, Decision making, Conflict Resolution) and the detailed analysis of each competency

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Nothing that comes to mind. It's really a good tool for assessments

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

I have worked with various assessment tools over the years, and I must say that Plum is really among the best. Easy to use, and great analytics.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the tool for our clients to assess their employees on their Intrapreneurship skills, helping to identify Intrapreneurs in their organizations

  ### 7. The plum test was challenging at first (with the puzzles) but then it got interesting.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valérie B. | Assistante stratège en publicité numérique, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I really liked the part when you had a bunch of words displayed and had to choose 3 that desbriced you best and 3 that described you the least. This was challenging for me, cause I felt like sometimes, no words were fitting my personnality.
There was another one, practically the same, but with sentences. I really liked that one too.
In the final step, where we see which type of person we are, I liked that it was pretty accurate. Great job for this! If I were an employer, I would use it to work on my way of treating everyone differently.
I also really liked the fact that the interface is quite nice, pretty and fun to use. It's a good idea to have separated Top Talents, Work Style and Work Preferences. It helps us.
I also like the fact that once you have done the test, you can go back to your profile and still see your results.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The first types of questions, with the puzzles and the logical sequences were really hard for me to do. I think I stayed on these question for almost half of the time I spent on the test. I felt like I was wrong each time I sent my answer. I hope there was no good or right answer!
Even though I didn't like that part, I would not take it out of the test.
You just have to be careful on how you use the results of the test. You can't use the results blindly, you have to make sure that they are accurate with everyone.
I don't know if I can say this is a dislike, but I don't see a place were we can to the test again, like after a year. I would like that option to see if my personnality as changed over a year for example.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

It's really interesting to take a look at the results after doing the test. Some things are right, some things are wrong. I think it's a good tool to have a bigger picture of employees.
Advice : I would use it for that, to picture what type of employees I have and to make sure I treat them accordingly.
As I said earlier, I don't know if this is available, but it would be great if there was a way to do the test in a year or so, to see if our personalities have changed. I think it would be a great way to see our evolution.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We (employees) only used plum to do the test, this test was then sent to our employers. Our employers will use it to track our strength and weaknesses. They will use it to see were in the business we should be. We are currently in the process of dividing jobs between employees, so the plum test is quite helpful to them.
We used plum to see differences between people in our workplace. Which person is best suited for different kinds of jobs.
For now, we didn't get any news on how our employers really used the results. They are suppose to come back to us soon with it.

  ### 8. Great aid for hiring managers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Plum does offer a great accurate insight in terms of the candidate's real motivation and attitudes for a specific role. It allows me as a hiring manager to set quantitative benchmarks for comparing several applicants as opposed to the typical gut feeling from choosing one or another

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I would prefer to have more visibility about how the success criteria are built after inviting other collaborators to a specific role. I found that people within the organization with different roles have a completely different criteria for a role than the hiring manager and this could potentially skew the results that I'm looking for as the main responsible for the new hire

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fair comparison in terms of candidates skills and attitudes - This fills in the gap from the information I receive in a CV
Centralized dashboard for all applicants - I save time not having to check other platforms when looking for this information
Quick filter through those applicants that are not entirely sure whether the role motivates them or not

  ### 9. It was entertaining but not actionable

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I really love The experience and insights; I enjoyed reading my “profile”: I find some points be 100% about me. Overall the test was engaging and rewarding. I find the IQ part as my favorite. My issue was with finding a way to implement the insight part.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I am not sure how to use it for the career development. The insights were too broad to be actionable. While reading I was thinking about horoscope: like wow it is like me but it also looks like mumbo-jumbo. I would love to see guidance or case studies how to use insights

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

The process is very straightforward; users clearly understand what and why they need to perform

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not sure I got something back from it. My hr team didn’t follow up. But that is understandable... there is the COVID 19 with more important and immediate issues. However I shared with the direct manager. She liked it. I will try to leverage findings for the goal setting next year (personal development)

**Official Response from Sydney Rohr:**

> Thank you for your review, it is great to see that your Plum Profile stands out and resonates with you. We wrote an entire blog post on using your Plum Talents for career development "A Team Building Trend You Haven't Heard Of", where your HR Team can unlock Plum Talent Guides which shows all of your top 10 talents and ranks them in order by how likely you are to excel at each talent at work. Also offering a breakdown of the competencies that make up each talent. It also includes which behaviours come most naturally to you, and which behaviours require more energy or coping strategies.

  ### 10. Functional Assessment tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

It doesn't take too long to complete, so it doesn't discourage people from doing it. Some other companies I have worked at use an assessment tool that takes almost an hour and I find people give up before completing assessments that long.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I don't find it to be the best indicator of someone's suitability. I have seen people score around 65, but their resume shows that they have many years of valuable experience in our industry.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Use Plum as a help in hiring, but also review resumes. Sometimes qualified candidates score low.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're weeding out the severely unqualified or those too lazy to do 20min worth of work. I’ve had a few applicants that claimed these assessments are rigged against the older generation and refused to invest time into completing it.

  ### 11. Aspiring wealth advisors

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danish S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

It is a very focused and methodical platform. By targeting specific qualities, it is able to realize the exact firm requirements.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Some of the questions can be confusing and as a person providing feedback, I felt I was contradictory at times.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

The software is different from the regular market questionnaires. It creates a very focused platform to hire new talent.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to find the next generation of wealth advisors that have the skills to be successful as me.

  ### 12. So far, so good - still pretty early to make a concrete statement.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Easy to use. Valuable information. Gives you a great base to work from. Saves time sifting through resumes for qualified individuals.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

In our organization it takes away from the in person evaluations. Some candidates may get missed based on the roles we require. While we all want top end performers - some times we just need a career warehouse person. They will not test well.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to get to quality candidates quicker

  ### 13. Guillevin hires

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

The simplicity of Plum makes it a valuable hiring tool

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The analysis of the profiles can be at times difficult to interprete, and will at times diverge from what we identify when we meet the hires.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Plum gives us a better view of the potential candidates and allows us to pinpoint more accurately where we need to drill down when talking with the individual.

  ### 14. Plum has been very helpful in ensuring that we adequately evaluate candidates.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kennedy K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

The quick responses by the team. I always receive quick feedback when I reach out to the team.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Candidates not receiving multiple reminders to take plum.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Plum has been great for our team. It is effective in evaluating candidates to ensure we get the right fit for our roles.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We filter out candidates thus we are able to review the CVs critically.

  ### 15. Decent Software for Businesses who are hiring

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anna W. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Easy to use regardless of your computer knowledge

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Who knows how accurate the metrics are. They look pretty, but are they a good indicator of thigns?

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Ensure you read resumes and not just plum profile results

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hiring qualified people and weeding out unqualified

  ### 16. Very Easy to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Investment Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Insightful questions and AI driven platform

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Minimal downsides, sometimes difficult to get enough colleagues to participate

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Plum to help us determine fit within different groups at our firm. We have noticed the candidates meet the criteria we are looking for.

  ### 17. Find out your top talents, working styles, and work preferences! And hire the right talent.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I filled out my Plum profile and it was super insightful - and accurate! I really got to know my strengths, my preferred working styles, and what type of roles/environments that I would thrive in. I think sharing these profiles with my team could be really insightful.

I have also used Plum with one of our clients in their recruitment process. You can compare your top performers to candidates applying to a job on the same team to find the right fit. Plum helps to find top talent!

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Nothing at all - I was really just amazed how accurate my profile was.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ensuring that the right fit is hired on teams.

  ### 18. Good plateform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Plum?**

They are super efficient, the plateform is easy to use and when you need help you get a fast answer.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

You can't switch matching criteria from a PLUM to another one. You always have to contact the support team. Also, the plateform as some issue. Sometimes some item does not work and you have to reboot your network.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

  ### 19. Very straight forward...great support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Plum?**

The system is very easy to use and support from our rep has been exceptional. Anytime I need assistance our rep responds timely and thoroughly. We've found great success weeding out applicants who do not meet our performance needs. The performance reviews sent out to managers after the applicant is extremely helpful and we've seen a 97% successful hiring rate. The system has recently been upgraded to Ultraviolet and has helped managers navigate the site more easily.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Wish I could search for applicants across all jobs, not just by searching through each job individually. In Ultraviolet, I'm unable to resend manager invitations to a role like I used to in the Classic site.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Make sure all stakeholders are a part of the process from set-up, match criteria survey, going over the trait results, etc.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hiring better candidates to fit our roles, reduce time spent sifting through candidates,

  ### 20. Amazing tool!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arsène M. | Financial Reporting Associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Plum?**

It is easy to use and understand. It helps in the recruitment process. Multiple users able to create assessment criteria. Easy for the candidate to use. Gives the candidate a small report for completing. Another tool to assess culture fit within our organization.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

It would be nice to have another section or custom sections for different stages of the interview process rather than just "shortlisted" and "hired"... Many candidates go through several stages of the interview and sometimes want to keep track of that.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Hiring not only the most qualified candidates, but also being able to choose those most similar to our current rockstar team. I would recommend it to others!

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assessing cultural fit for the candidates, Screening of new candidates and their potential skills, knowledge and abiity

  ### 21. Excellent screening tool for candidates

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maciej B. | Senior Analyst / Project Manager / Engagement Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Results are genuinely helpful in assessing strengths and weaknesses of potential hires.

Based on the Big Five personality traits, I have a high degree of confidence in the validity of the results.

The additional hurdle of completing the survey effectively filters out unqualified applicants.

Customer support is excellent -- they are very open to sharing additional information and spending time with you to ensure you understand what you need to know.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I would like to see how employees rate on all 10 talents as opposed to just the top 5 that are used for scoring.

The methodology used for scoring should be a bit more transparent so that swings in results can be explained more easily. How is each of the top 5 criteria weighted? Do the bottom 5 influence the score at all? How do you aggregate each team member's match criteria to arrive at a single score? Is it done at the talent or sub-talent, or sub-sub-talent level?

I would like a deeper problem-solving/IQ section, and for that section to be timed.

It would be amazing if Plum implemented more ATS system functionality. As it stands, we still have to use a spreadsheet to manage and review candidates alongside their system.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More confidence in selecting quality candidates.

  ### 22. Great way to get quick alignment on hard and soft skills!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I really like how clearly the characteristics are framed. It's easy to understand the difference between options and they really round out the possible set of traits you're looking for as a hiring manager.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I sometimes found it difficult to name traits that are truly low priority, though it did make me think critically about what mattered most in the role!

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

I think it's a very worthwhile tool for anyone sorting through large volumes of candidates as a hiring manager.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We receive hundreds of applications for every role - Plum helps us short-cut on some of the key traits we want to filter for.

  ### 23. Screen a large number of applicants

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben C. | Co-Founder - President - Buffalo Hunter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I love how simple it is to use the plum interface to screen applicants. We're getting so many requests a day, it's easy to quickly screen them for fit

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The old user interface was clunky, but they've released a new one that is much easier to understand.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A lot of personality profiles are expensive to run for every applicant. Plum makes it easy to screen everyone first and then go through the interviewing process

  ### 24. The best tool to streamline candidates that fit your needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Plum's survey helped my company identify candidates that best fit the need for the position i am looking to fill. It has allowed me to quickly rank candidates then easily review their resume and cover letter without taking up too much of mine time.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The questionnaire that candidates fill out seem to be too complex and might make top candidates not apply to the job. I agree with the ranking of task/characteristics for that position but not identifying the next item in the pattern.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Allowing the hiring manager to contact candidates right through plum . Also, allowing the hiring manager to review what the candidates see if the survey to determine if that is required for that role. Finally, with all resumes, develop a dashboard of keep attributes for each candiate by having plum scan/read their resume (i.e. average number of years experience, location, schooling, skills) to give the hiring manager a quick review of if the right candiate pool has been selected or if they should keep the job posting up longer.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This allows me more time in my day to focus on higher value items. Plum keeps all candidates resumes in one place.

  ### 25. Revolutionized Hiring!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nabila T. | Director, DTC Sales, ME to WE, Non-Profit Organization Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I was able to send the survey out to my top performers from over the years and identify their personality traits that made them successful at their jobs. This also helped the mgmt team eliminate biases and really defined who our ideal candidate is. I have personally hired 7 staff members over the past year using Plum and their success in integrating into the team and ability to flatten the learning curve has been noteworthy. As a result of which, we have now upgraded to Plum Ultraviolet!

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The results were static and inconvenient to breakdown, compare and play with. Eg. John scored x on industriousness - how does his industriousness compare to others? Sure one can go in and our of each profile to compare this from one candidate to another but an ability to filter and compare strengths would be helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Strongly recommend this product. My department was chosen to pilot Plum's implementation and success and the results have made a compelling case to roll this out to the rest of the organization. I honestly cant imagine how I even hired before this!

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a strong understanding on who my ideal candidate is based on empirical data. The interview guide also helps flush this out more.
Having a better understanding of the new hire's personality also helps guide what training/coaching tools will be most effective and sets expectations for the degree of support that will be required and how that will be received in turn.

  ### 26. Plum helps improve hiring by reducing bias and saving recruiter time

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I like that Plum asses a variety of candidate qualities and provides a single metric for recruiters to use to make decisions. I also like that Plum assists with reducing bias in the hiring process by reducing the importance of a CV/resume review. It also saves us time for recruiters by providing an initial screening phase so we are having to review less CVs!

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I wish that Plum provide more guidance for how individual sub-scores can be used to drive hiring decisions. I also wish there were more support on how scores can be analyzed for applicants outside of North America/Europe (to have a better understanding of how things like English fluency and cultural context play in to scores).

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Plum saves recruiter time. It helps with efforts to reduce bias in the hiring process. It also helps recruiters make more confident recommendations to hiring managers about what to seek in an applicant.

  ### 27. Great recruitment tool!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Plum provides intelligent insights to candidates prior to the interview phase.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Some of the questions can be quite polarizing and we've heard from candidates it made them overthink the process of completing the assessment.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Plum allows us to ensure a lower rate of turnover and a better match with company values.

**Official Response:**

> Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! We appreciate product feedback from talent experts such as yourself to make Plum the best it can be.

I just wanted to take a quick second to address your comment: “Some of the questions can be quite polarizing and we’ve heard from candidates it made them overthink the process of completing the assessment.” Hope I can add some clarity here!

Sounds like you’re referring to the personality section of the assessment. The “polarizing” nature of the questions is actually very intentional – the methodology we use here is called forced-choice. We use forced-choice because Industrial/Organizational Psychology research has uncovered that it is a valid way to assess personality while reducing response distortion (i.e., faking of responses). Reducing faking is necessary, especially in the context of using Plum for recruitment, where applicants are often motivated to inflate their responses.

We also believe it’s valuable to have test-takers deliberately think about their responses, rather than rushing through the assessment. After all, it’s in the best interests of both you as the employer and the applicant to understand right from the get-go if the role will be a good fit for them!

Hope that helps! I would be happy to answer any further questions you may have, or send you a copy of our technical manual. You can reach out to me at leann@plum.io.

  ### 28. Easy to use, insightful hiring tool!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan M. | Deputy Director of Global Corporate Operations, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Plum is so easy to use that you can't get lost or confused, and the results are immediate and actionable - it's been so helpful to us as we aim to slim down from hundreds of applications per job to a manageable and high-quality quantity .
You can also plug Plum into multiple other hiring softwares (eg. Greenhouse) and use it to improve your insights on hires as well as test for critical role criteria right at the start of your hiring process.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I haven't experienced any real downsides to the Plum software yet - it's intuitive and works well as a standalone or a plug-in tool. No hesitations in recommending it.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's just so much easier to screen for great candidates who match a specific role's criteria. It's also an easy way for multiple members of a hiring team to have input into what makes for a great 'match' or hire.

  ### 29. Finally!! A beneficial recruiting tool!

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I LOVE the new platform. Ultraviolet makes complete sense. I really like how the candidates remain "New" for up to 72 hours. I also really like being able to look at a candidate and how they match up for different positions.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I wish the candidates would remain new until they have been reviewed by one of the admin users.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Do it!!! It will really prove to be a valuable resource with your recruiting efforts.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to really narrow down the applicants that would fit in with our company's culture.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Not having to filter through applications that are not even in the running. Those applicants who are serious will go through the process to meet our requirements

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The transition in Plums design to Ultraviolet leaves us more questions and concern about our existing information with the app. We have finished our hiring requirements now, but what happens in the future for the data we have under this format that you are moving away from?

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were hiring and rehiring based on what we thought matched what we wanted. With Data we can focus on the best candidates and also have information on file about our current employees to understand better their quirks and talents.

  ### 31. Lots of potential

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Plum?**

The new interface is very pleasing to the eye but lacks some functionality of the previous interface. It is very helpful that it buckets candidates by the job they apply for, and the specific criteria required to be successful in those roles.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I don't like that the new interface was rolled out without the ability to search by a candidate's name to find them. You first have to locate which job they applied under, then CTRL+F to find the person. Can be more manual than necessary.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Help us find the right people that fit the right job. The benefit of this is high employee retention!

  ### 32. It's a personality test with some added bells

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I think the IQ screening component is valuable though it is quite derivative of western high school standardised testing (if you are British, think: CATs tests). From speaking to colleagues, this is something that is not necessarily normal in other education systems, so there is potential for bias against African applicants (I work in Africa). I would imagine, it is able to determine if someone is not a high school graduate, or is not computer literate with relative ease.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

It's a personality test. Candidate's responses vary depending on mood, sleep and what they had for breakfast. Similarly, hiring managers probably have a perception of what they want in a character, but don't really know, beyond the patently obvious traits (reliable, hard-working etc.) It's value is limited to being a conversation starter, and as a conversation starter, it is a rather elaborate and expensive tool. I dislike the concept, the product is a pleasant looking vessel for a dubious, fledgling science. I am deeply uncomfortable that we screen candidates with such authority based on what this platform tells us.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

There is nothing wrong with the company, it's a slick product. I genuinely don't believe you can pigeon hole personality types so superficially.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to to sift through thousands of CVs much quicker with, at least, a pretence that we are doing it scientifically.

**Official Response:**

> Hi there,

We’re sorry that Plum hasn’t been meeting your expectations. We hope we can address some of your concerns!

We would first like to clarify that Plum does not use a traditional IQ test. Plum assesses fluid intelligence, instead of crystallized intelligence (which is what a traditional standardized test measures). Fluid intelligence is widely agreed-upon to be the most accurate predictor of future on-the-job success (Schmidt & Hunter, 1998). The method we use to assess fluid intelligence is Raven’s Progressive Matrices, which is particularly noted for its ability to NOT discriminate against particular groups, regardless of country of origin, race, gender, age, sexuality, etc. Our assessment only requires a grade 5 reading level, making it accessible even to those who are not high school graduates.

For the personality portion of our assessment, Plum leverages the Five-Factor (or “Big 5”) model of personality, which is scientifically validated to be an accurate means of measuring personality. In fact, when combined with the results of a fluid intelligence test, personality has been found to be highly predictive of job performance (Schmidt & Hunter, 1998). Research has also found that someone’s personality is highly stable, in that it changes little due to situational factors like how much sleep a person has had. Finally, leveraging the input of subject matter experts like hiring managers is a well-vetted method for determining role requirements, such as which personality traits are optimal for a role (Tett, Jackson, & Rothstein, 1991).

Plum is based in 50+ years of deep Industrial/Organizational research, and our current product is vetted by professors and PhD candidates based out of Central Michigan University and the University of Guelph, who would disagree that the peer-reviewed science is “dubious” or “fledgling.”

I would be happy to answer any further questions you have about the validity of our product, or I can send you a copy of our technical manual. You can reach out to me at leann@plum.io.

We use Plum to help us understand which candidates are worth digging deeper with. We also have found people who we might not have been initially interested in based on their resume who turn out to be a great fit for our agency.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

More personalized interview worksheets would go a long way to perfecting their offering.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hiring, assessing strengths & weaknesses.

  ### 34. Experience using Plum

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Plum has significantly improved our ability to quickly filter and rank candidates' fit for new roles across a spectrum of demonstrable analytical and psychosocial skills. Since we started using plum as part of the hiring process on our team, our quality of candidates and likelihood for role fit has gone up exponentially. We haven't had any regrets to-date with candidates hired into permanent roles with plum as part of the process.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

There's a bit of a learning curve to using plum well and understanding how it works in the background, but once you master that; its an indispensable hiring tool!

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Definitely recommend for recruiters who are looking to ascertain role fit very early within the hiring cycle!

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Much higher, and much more tailored / targeted quality of candidates for new openings on our team.

  ### 35. Plum for quicker, better hires

**Reviewed by:** Nik B. | Manager, Insurance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I like the ease to use the profile and the detail it give us and the people applying for the role

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

It doesn't tie into the application program we use as well

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Great tool to understand what's important to your people

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to hire better people in quicker time

  ### 36. Really useful app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Plum made it easy for me to find the best candidates to consider, and helped me to prepare for the interviews. Super helpful in reducing resume overload, and in making sure I know key areas to explore with each person I considered.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

There was a little bit of a learning curve when I first started using the platform, but Plum has made a ton of changes that make the platform easy to use.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding the best people to consider for hiring

  ### 37. Fast track your recruitment process

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wade L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

Having recently had to transform our organization and recruit a number of roles quickly. Plum was critical in helping me test and identify a large group of potential candidates and to be able to help me short list the best of the best to interview first

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Had some problem solvers come through the test at 100 out of 100 that clearly weren't elite problem solvers

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Spend time setting up your job criteria well

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Employee reviews. Highlighting best match and low match employees and candidates

  ### 38. Revolutionized our recruitment process

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

We have been able to get a deeper understanding of our candidates and determine what strengths and weaknesses they might have before they are hired. Every employee has received their Professional Development Guide and is creating short/long term goals with their manager. This has revolutionized how our managers interact with their employees while keeping our employees engaged. All hires are now taking custom Plum job matches for the entire company.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I would like to be able to customize the order of the jobs listed in the portal, mark employees as terminated if they do not last, and have statistical data regarding the information already available. The site appears to have some bugs in it - it will frequently crash and take me back to the dashboard, and it will not show the correct number of "great matches" on the dashboard.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

I would like to see personality summaries that we can share with the employees and managers that are not the scored assessment but not as long as the development guide. This would help me to share personality assessments with mentors and directly with the employees. I would also like to see a candidate area separate from a current employee area. I used the same jobs for all current employees to have assessments and PDG's created - it would be nice to have separate areas for different uses. Also, I cannot mark my current employees as hired because my contract is for a limited amount of hires per year.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to optimize the candidate choices for managers when recruiting, helped managers understand their current employees, and every current employee is receiving a development guide with their annual review to create goals with their manager. In the future, I plan to use the personality assessments to help pair mentors with new hires and help create a succession plan.

  ### 39. Plum Review from a Startup CTO

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devon L. | Media/Creative Team Volunteer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I love the personality assessment and pieces of content that potential employees are graded with. They are very insightful and are useful for 1) easily narrowing down the fit, and 2) helpful for interview questions. Along side the personality assessment, the ease of use for potential candidates uploading resumes. We use plum as the last piece of the application process in order to filter down our results even more for potential employees.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I dislike the monthly payment system. I actually think it would be more beneficial on a "per" assessment or job description payment. There are months we go without using this and still pay the $200/mo. It is also hard to really manage your "Account" per say. There really isn't an account management page where i can manage users, billing , etc.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Incredible tool to easily integrate a personality assessment into your hiring process. It really helps you 1) Identify exactly what you are looking for and 2) finds the best matches for what you are looking for. The people we have hired through using plum are not always the "HIGHEST" match, but they are a solid match that helps distinguish what you are looking for in a potential candidate.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we've solved is narrowing down potential candidates for interviews. We've noticed that the actual hires that we have made are not the "highest" PLUM score, but have all been at least 60 or above match for the position profile.

  ### 40. Nailing hiring profile with Plum

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

This system helped us in 3 very strategic ways.
1) It created incredible alignment with all hiring managers and forced critical conversations about what we were looking for in candidates. As a result, we had much quicker highers and recruiters had a clearer picture of what hiring managers were looking for.
2) It reduced our time to fill roles. It helped our team bring in higher probability candidates, which meant less interviews, higher quality candidates, and a shorter interview process (less interviews required).
Our hiring team loved the ease of use and found the profiles very accurate in terms of matching to what they were looking for.

The Plum team also did an amazing job helping us create the right criteria and aligning our job descriptions to this criteria.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I really can't think of too much that I didn't like. The only thing I can think of is that I had a Plum rep join me in some meetings to help explain the different plum factors and help our team understand which factors were co-orelated to "big 5". Perhaps there is a way to integrate the co-relation of the "big 5" in the criteria.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) Reducing time to hire - better candidates brought in. Less interview time required.
2) Defining the right profile - As hiring managers define what is required for the role, this system provides an objective and simple method

  ### 41. Love Plum

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Plum?**

We use plum in my workplace as a tool when recruiting new talent. I love how detailed the reports are and am very excited to use the UV Plum, the new platform looks amazing

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I don’t dislike anything. We have had great success with Plum

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are finding candidates that fit in well with each department by using plum

  ### 42. Intuitive, simple and effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris D. | General Manager, Events Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

The results. We have used Plum to evaluate candidates for positions ranging from managers to drivers. The candidates Plum profile has been a reliable predictor of success in each of the positions we've filled in the past year and a half using it.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

No dislikes. I'd like to upgrade from the Basic level in order to access more features, but I don't have the openings to justify the increased cost.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Make the jump.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've streamlined our hiring process by requiring every candidate to complete the Plum profile before reviewing their resume. By beginning our evaluation process by reviewing candidates with the highest scoring Plum profile we have identified the best candidates much more quickly.
By being able to invite other team members to create the profile criteria I'm able to get better buy-in on the hires I make.

  ### 43. Helps with picking the right person for the job

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Machinery | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I enjoy the ease of selecting candidates based on our companies values and needs.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Not every candidate wants to take the time to complete- however this is a good indication of their work ethic, so we don't want to hire people that aren't willing to put the time

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

great tool for weeding out the applicants that aren't suitable for your company.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we can see who has the potential and core values that we have here- just from a pre-screening. Eliminates lost time interviewing unqualified candidates that might not fit in.

  ### 44. Helpful Tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

The ability to move candidates among jobs and apply results to different hiring managers

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The email template doesn't stay formatted, and the PLUM cannot be sent directly from PLUM

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to help make hiring decisions, especially when our interview team is having difficulty deciding on a candidate

  ### 45. This is one of the best personality profile tests I've ever used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zac P. | Chief Executive Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

It seems like the results are strikingly accurate. One thing I really appreciate is that is not only a "good traits" only test. It tests all facets of personality (arguably good and bad) and allow you to see those results. It allows you to set what you need for the role and see the alignment of that person to the role in a very objective manner.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I wish we could search a little better through the results. Alerting of new completed test via email would be nice too.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this on all prospective candidates for our company and we also use it for current staff. It helps us figure out who fits and how to work with current personality types.

  ### 46. Super helpful at filtering candidates and preparing for interviews!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I love that the Plum platform helps me to identify top candidates without filtering through hundreds of resumes. It's also really helpful at identifying areas to talk through with the candidates in an interview, and in identifying areas where we may need to coach the candidate after hire. I've made a number of hires through Plum with 100% success rate on great people!

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

The manager profile can take a little time to create, but it's worth the work.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding the right candidates for open roles.

  ### 47. Adding a little more certainty to hiring

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

What we like best is that you can't game the software. Our team has tried gaming it several times and been successful so it's nice to know that what we see for scoring is truly a reflection of the applicant. Other tools that I have tried in the past made it very obvious what the question was trying to assess. This made it very easy to submit answers which an applicant might think align with the kind of response our company was hoping to receive. By making the gaming function nearly impossible, we ensure that the personality scores and grades received align with the true personality of the candidate.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I wish Plum had additional functionality to handle the complete cycle of hiring. Functionality I would like to see would include job posting and custom questionnaires and scoring, applicant tracking and automated responses, and performance reviews. Essentially one tool to take care of our hiring and ongoing personnel needs. I think as a pure personality assessment tool Plum is great. I just wish they would add additional functionality so I could avoid having to use so many products and disparate systems.

**Recommendations to others considering Plum:**

Compared several other products and found Plum to be one of the best at personality assessments that avoid gaming.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better understanding the personalities of our applicants to find the best possible employees. Helping us to reduce the number of bad hires that we make and retain employees longer. This ultimately leads to better customer satisfaction and fewer bumps and hurdles as our company quickly grows and scales.

  ### 48. It's been a great prescreening tool to get hiring managers involved in the first round of selection

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katie W. | HR & Talent Advisor, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

It sorts all the resumes and applications by title and houses them in one easy to use platform. I like that you can add other team members and managers to collaborate on the process as well.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I wish there was a way to you drag and drop the resume files more easily into another location.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hiring for fit and not just the knowledge and skills candidates possess. Plum helps validate some of the attributes people put on their resumes- eg problem solving, organization, social intelligence, etc.

We've realized you still have to use this platform in conjunction with other screening techniques- phone interviews, access cultural fit. But it's a good first step that helps narrow down the shortlist of resumes.

  ### 49. Informative and Accurate

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I like how you can compare your existing staff with applicants - We have some serious rockstar employees that we'd like to compare with our future hires. We also have had some not so rockstar employees that we compare with future hires (helps us weed out potential bad hires).

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

I wish the results stayed "New" until you clicked on the name to review the score and assessment.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have realized the benefits of creating a match criteria based on our high performing staff.

  ### 50. Get this!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Plum?**

I love the ease of setting things up, it is incredibly easy to contact customer service and I love the reports you get from potential candidates.

**What do you dislike about Plum?**

Would like more functionality around offering internal development. Ie if someone needs growth in leadership/managing others, what are specific chapters of books or podcasts they could listen to with self reflection activities to help them grow.

**What problems is Plum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This helps us to hire more strategically and be thoughtful with team placement.
