## BoardSpot Reviews
  ### 1. Easy onboarding, clear UI & UX, with integration in calendar apps

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2023

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

As a busy executive, I thought that BoardSpot was extremely easy and straightforward to use. In fact, it includes a lot of features that boards use — such as voting, attendance, and quorum tracking. The integration with calendar apps is impressive, as users can respond with their own calendar apps (Attending vs Not Attending) and the web app tracks and displays these very easily. Bios, profiles, and photos of boardmembers and staff is easy to access. The web app itself is light and loads fast in Safari.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

There's not much to dislike. It's very easy and quick to use. I would selfishly like to see if BoardSpot has a solution for corporate boards! Additionally, if there were a way to have thumbnail previews of files — such as PDF uploads — so we can easily view what's on the front page. Finally, would like to see a way for boardmembers to synchronize with their own cloud drives (like OneDrive) and notetaking apps (like Evernote), plus integration with virtual meeting transcripts.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This website organizes and synchronizes calendar/scheduling, boardmember attendance, boardmember voting, and files, all in one easy-to-use easy-to-onboard hub that's much better than e-mails and tracking cloud links!

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> BoardSpot was, and continues to be, designed with the member experience in mind. It sounds like we hit the mark for you! We are happy to hear that as a busy user, you found it easy to onboard and see the value. Thank you for sharing this feedback. I will add your product ideas to our feature request list.

  ### 2. Supportive for Board Development

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Milan B. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2023

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

BoardSpot is simple to navigate. It provides helpful features to search for specific board member personas and share more about your mission. It's a great opportunity for newer nonprofits like mine to get situated and hit the ground running.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

Wishing there was a better way to curate or authoritze / verify the individuals listed on BoardSpot. This was it cuts the chase and is able to make sure that board members found are more fitting / actually interested beyong an initial conversation.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BoardSpot is helping us find the right board members for our growing nonprofit. Board Members are critical to the development and management of hte nonprofit. While it doesn't support the day to day, BoardSpot allows us to ensure our governing body is stable and always there for our organization.

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> Milan- once your board members are chosen, we would love to be your board portal that delivers clear insights into member participation.

  ### 3. Great option for smaller boards

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2023

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

BoardSpot is a big upgrade from using something like Google Drive to organize board materials. Simple enough that it is accesible to less-savvy board members, and checks the box on all the key things. Most board portal platforms are enterprise-priced, and BoardSpot has offerings for smaller boards that can't spend thousands on software. We very much appreciate that.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

It's hard to complain about anything -- the value to price ratio is very high. The platform speed is a touch slow at times and it would be useful to have online voting / polling features outside of the meeting functionality, but those are nipping at the fringes. We are very happy with what we get and I know of no alterntive we could have used at this price point.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of meeting management, new board member on-boarding, document sharing, committee documentation, and more. Allow board members clear single resource for key questions.

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> Thank so much, Chris! We appreciate this thoughtful feedback. The voting/polling outside of a meeting is on our roadmap. We have been working on the performance speed and hope you'll see improvements soon!

  ### 4. intuitive, organized, simple

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kripa D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2023

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

everything from upcoming meetings to agenda to attachments for presetnations are all in one place making it convenient and easy to find, especially given the limited time of board memebers and the amount of documents they need to go through,.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

integration with calendars and video conference platforms would be great. love the agenda and attachments, but if i could be presenting directly from boardspot, then it would make things even better.

a messaing fucntion within might help?

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

keeps all documents in one place; easy to see meeting agenda and related documents to review before hand (instead of having to pour through emails and dropboxes etc.)

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> Glad you are finding the portal intuitive and effective. I have added your ideas to our feature request list. We are currently working on the last piece of a video platform integration. I would love to hear more about your thoughts on presenting directly from the portal. Chat me from inside the portal, and we can set up a time! Thanks.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

There is nothing I dislike about BoardSpot at this time.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Meeting organization
Document storage
Voting and records management

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> Making board service easier is our goal! So happy to hear that even board members who aren't as technically expert had an easy adoption of the portal. Thank you for your service and for this valuable feedback.

  ### 6. Ease-of-use!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenifer G. | Principal and Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2023

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

I love more than one thing - so, hard to say "best" - I like seeing photo images of my board colleagues, being able to see other committees' materials, and knowing when my next committee meeting is. The layout is so accessible, thank you.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

If I didn't have all my passwords already saved in my computer, I'd be frustrated about logging in every time, but I appreciate the security.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Universal access and visibility into board-goings on by board and staff, as relevant.

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> Jenifer, we love that our board portal helps you stay up to date, know your fellow board members, and be impactful. We appreciate your feedback!

  ### 7. Excellent, especially as a first-time board member

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

UX is easy to use and understand. Love the design and appreciate the ease overall. It has been really helpful in keeping myself organized engaging with a huge board of a huge non-profit!

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

Nothing yet - overall I think its been wonderful and easy to use. It would be cool to have a feature to chat within committees or like socially connect with others but I think its good so far and serves its purpose.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coordinating the board overall and have a seamless platform to help with training, alignment, and coordination! It is overall great - I feel like I know where to go and what to do.

  ### 8. Great way to keep our board and staff connected

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2023

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

BoardSpot is intuitive and easy to use so all members of our team can be as involved as they want to be and have access to all the resources they need.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

So far it's worked great for us and I don't have something to add for a dislike.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We previously didn't have a great way to keep our board updated and plan for meetings, keep minutes, etc. and with BoardSpot all that's taken care of.

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> BoardSpot makes member roles and responsibilities clear, so your board and staff can connect, get things done, and be effective! And we love hearing that it's working so well for you!

  ### 9. Extremely easy

I love the way that the agendas and documents are uploaded and ready to use.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

I have not found anything to dislike about it.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having to search different emails from committee chairs to download reports; having to look on different dates to find agendas or minutes. BoardSpot has it all in one place.

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> BoardSpot is continually improving and we take customer feedback seriously. In fact, we recently added a feature request tool into every portal. Among the ideas we have received and prioritized are reporting and document search options. I will add your statements to them. Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback!

  ### 10. BoardSpot provides a valuable platform back to non-profits.

Would like additional features to make it more interactive and part of BOD daily workflow.

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> BoardSpot can indeed help your inbox have less clutter, and be the one-stop spot for board members serving a nonprofit. So glad to hear we are helping you be successful and organized!

  ### 12. Excellent and easy resource!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2023

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

Full visibility to all agendas and documents and calendars of Board and Committees.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

The site is slow - it takes a long time after clicking.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need the Board to have a resource that was universally accessible and easy to use.

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> Accessibility, organization, and board engagement are BoardSpot goals. Knowing we have provided these values to your nonprofit - and made it easy - is music to our ears! Our team is currently working to improve the software speed and we expect you to see a difference very soon. Thank you for giving us your feedback!

  ### 13. Exactly what we needed!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bethany F. | Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2022

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

BoardSpot was extremely easy to set up, the trial was incredibly helpful for our board to test it, and it's just the things we need - not too much to take on.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

I haven't found things that cause complaints. As the admin, it was easy to set up and it was easy to explain to a range of users.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We bring new board members on regularly and they want information in more detail than we can review each board meeting so this lets them get as acclimated as they wish to be without creating more work for their board-buddy or me. Those on the board who have been around a while like to have a central place for their documents so they don't have to ask me for them repeatedly. This makes my life easier by centralizing information for disbursement and it allows committee chairs to see who is on their committee and to contact them without me as a central communicator.

**Official Response from Heather Sharp:**

> And this feedback is "exactly what we needed!" Feedback is a gift and we value knowing that the free trial, reduction of your administrative burden, and easy onboarding for your board members, all helped you make the decision to use BoardSpot. Thank you!

  ### 14. BoardSpot for the win!!...

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darrin S. | Assistant Sales Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2022

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

All of it really. Very efficient layout and navigation. And, most of the tools one needs are available. It is a conduit to a disciplined approach to meeting organization.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

The solution lacks a collaborative document area. Our organization often needs multiple participants to assist in the composition of an outline or some other document. And, at times, that document needs to be extended by permission set of the given user, committee assignment, etc.

**Recommendations to others considering BoardSpot:**

Sign up or you'll look back with regret.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since we've adopted BoardSpot as a meeting solution for our organization, we have been dependent upon it as the depot for agendas and meeting and timely productive thereof. Our organization viewed those tasks as more elective than mandatory before our transition to BoardSpot.

**Official Response from Winn Jewett:**

> Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you find BoardSpot easy to use, and that it has become an integral part of your organization.

Your feedback about making the document area more collaborative is especially useful. We will certainly take this suggestion to heart as we continue to build out new features.

  ### 15. Very user-friendly, intuitive, and appealing.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2022

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

Everything is laid out in an appealing and logical format. I am able to find the information I need just by looking. Editing things, like my profile for example, is also very easy and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

I don't really see any specific problems or downsides. I understand that many board members may be less technological savvy, and so might find some aspects of the interface challenging. But I don't think that is a problem on BoardSpot's end. My impression is that it has been designed and built in a very thoughtful and user-friendly manner.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BoardSpot makes everything our board needs available in one, centralized place. This saves a lot of headaches, including notably the group emails with attachments that tend to either get overlooked in one's inbox, or get lost in the shuffle.

  ### 16. Very user friendly. Keep me organized.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Randi B. | Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2022

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

BoardSpot keeps our notes all in one place. Easily adds all meetings to various calendars. Generating email with all pertinent meeting information is a huge timesaver.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

Building agenda feature could be more refined or have the option for personalized templates.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organization of agenda and mintues. Quick and easy access for all members.

  ### 17. Boardspot is extremely user friendly. Allows for easy access to important documents and links.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keyerra C. | Director of Health Promotion & Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2022

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

I like that boardspot allows all the documents to be in one place and the files are accessible.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

I do not have any dislikes so far for boardspot.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping the board on the same page. Access to links and important documents.

  ### 18. Easy to use!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2022

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

I appreciate the simplicity of the site, it's very intuitive and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

This is very specific, but we have a private committee that uses BoardSpot to house documents/set meetings times/etc and to allow the members to add documents and such I had to make them admins. I would appreciate an option to allow them to control any committe specific material without making them admins.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BoardSpot solves our issue of being a homebase for our board. It's helpful to have a place to house all of the information that our board needs

  ### 19. Board Spot Has It All Together

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric F. | Business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2022

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

Board Spot provides the organization with the tools to communicate the agenda, timing and attendance.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

Balky getting into the site. Suggest trying to smooth out the site entry method.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BoardSpot keeps the Board organized and in touch.

  ### 20. An efficient and intuitive program that allows seamless communication with board members

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amber S. | Conservation and Stewardship Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2020

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

BoardSpot allows our organization to minimize the time and effort it takes to be responsive and accountable to our board. This program is an excellent collaborative tool; I can find contact info, create agendas, send reminders, see RSVPs, run our meetings, and post pertinent information for our board all in one place. It is not only a time-saver, but an efficient way to organize our governance items.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

Any issues or questions I have had have been promptly answered or fixed by the developers. There is nothing about this program that I dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering BoardSpot:**

If you are seeking a way to better manage your board and board meetings, this is a great solution. I have been extremely impressed with the company and the product. I would highly suggest giving it a try.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a fairly large board with multiple committees and this program has made board orientation, meetings, and governance much simpler. Previously, we posted agendas and other pertinent items through our website for board members and transferring to BoardSpot has dramatically increased the number of trustees who access these items prior to meetings. It is intuitive and easy to use, which is great for a diverse board like ours. I especially appreciate that everything is in one place; I don't have to search through our database, cloud service, emails, and website to find the info I need.

  ### 21. BoardSpot Is the Perfect Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2020

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

We looked at numerous products for our Board portal, and BoardSpot was the top choice in our evaluations. It offers a full menu of features and is the perfect tool to enhance and support the work of our Board. It was easy to populate and to set up meeting information, member directory, documents, committee groups, etc. It's very easy to update and maintain as well. One of several outstanding advantages of BoardSpot is the ease-of-use for our Board members. They love it! Many have commented about how easy it is to navigate the program and how user-friendly it is.
Another significant advantage is the value/cost---very affordable, and no hidden or escalating fees. Because BoardSpot is so intuitive and works so well, we haven't had to contact customer service very much, but on the few occasions when we have had questions, their team response was outstanding with very prompt personal attention and quick solutions.
We feel fortunate to have selected BoardSpot, and are very pleased with the product, the array of features, the user-friendly structure, the company, the support, and the excellent value.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

We have had almost no issues with BoardSpot.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to BoardSpot, we compiled and mailed Board meeting books. In addition to the extensive labor involved, we also were unhappy with the environmental impact of producing hundreds of copies of documents, buying binders, and the associated mailing costs incurred for the meetings throughout the year. By using BoardSpot, we were able to save thousands of dollars and many valuable resources. Now, we just load our meeting information in to BoardSpot, and our trustees log in at the meetings to access the materials. It was a quick, efficient and effective way to transition from the cumbersome printed materials!

  ### 22. BoardSpot is a great solution for our nonprofit!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeanine M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2020

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

BoardSpot helps me to stay on track with board and committee activities. I use the Dashboard often to keep abreast on my next meeting and future meetings as well. I frequently access the "People" section for contact and committee info. The "Meetings" section's ability to hold all information pertaining to particular meetings including the minutes helps to ensure that all minutes are accounted for and accessible to board members. It allows all trustees to view meeting agendas in advance. I especially like the email feature within a meeting to notify members of changes and uploads of new info for a meeting. The "Document" section keeps all of our important board documents organized and ensures you are up to date with a simple glance. It is well organized and very user friendly! It makes my job much easier!

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

The only downside of BoardSpot is simply trying to get 100% participation from board members for attendance tracking. It would be so helpful if they indicated their intentions of attending a particular meeting or not right in BoardSpot. Often they don't, so we are unsure who will be showing up that day.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

During these times of COVID-19, we are having to be creative considering new remote meeting and time constraints. Since we can't meet in person for committee and board meetings, BoardSpot's ability to share agendas and materials in advance with members is so helpful. The meetings themselves take up much less time for discussion and voting. This has gone a long way during these more restrictive times of connecting with each other remotely.

  ### 23. Great service and great people

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

I don't dislike any part of the service.

**Recommendations to others considering BoardSpot:**

The product is incredibly robust and very inexpensive for what you get. The best part for us has been the relationships with the design team. They always respond quickly and have solved every problem we've encountered.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining our board records and attendance has been really great. Sharing content with our board members has proven to be easy and makes our meeting setup much simplier.

  ### 24. Perfect for Nonprofit Organizations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

BoardSpot has been an incredible asset for the small organizations that I serve on the board of directors of. The simplicity, ease of access and use make it a perfect fit for nonprofit teams.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

As of now, there is nothing I dislike. I have communicated with BoardSpot to request the inclusion of discussion feeds or a connection to Slack.

**What problems is BoardSpot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem that BoardSpot has solved for us in the storage of documents for board members to easily access. We have used Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, and other web-based platforms to great frustration. The user interface of BoardSpot has made managing accessibility of documents so much easier.

  ### 25. We've had a great experience using it since the start of 2019.

**Reviewed by:** Melissa D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about BoardSpot?**

Easy to communicate information to all board members at once, RSVP is so helpful, and allows me to post the documents for discussion and not have to email them separately or print copies.

**What do you dislike about BoardSpot?**

I'd like the board packet feature to include different formats of documents instead of just PDFs.

Keeping our board and organization documents in one place so our board members can access them easily whenever they want.
