Who is UserTesting pricing best suited for?

According to G2 reviewers, UserTesting's pricing is best suited for mid-market and enterprise organizations with dedicated UX or research teams that conduct testing regularly. G2 reviews from enterprise users in industries like financial services, retail, healthcare, information technology, and consumer goods highlight strong satisfaction, particularly with the Team-based Unlimited plan's scalability. The Test-based Consumption model appeals to organizations beginning their research practice. G2 users from small businesses and startups frequently cite UserTesting's pricing as a barrier, recommending it only when testing volume is high enough to justify the annual contract cost. Individual contributors and freelancers consistently find UserTesting's pricing difficult to sustain independently.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of UserTesting?

UserTesting offers a free trial for teams evaluating the platform before committing. Both paid tiers, Team-based Unlimited and Test-based Consumption, require contacting the vendor for custom pricing. The Team-based Unlimited plan allows unlimited tests within a Fair Use policy and is designed for scaling across departments, while the Test-based Consumption plan charges based on test volume, offering more flexibility for organizations earlier in their research journey. G2 reviewers note that advanced features like AI-powered Insight Discovery, card sorting, tree testing, and dedicated Customer Success Manager support are only available within UserTesting's paid plans, making the trial primarily useful for evaluating core functionality.

Is UserTesting considered good value for its pricing?

UserTesting is widely regarded as a premium investment that delivers strong returns for teams that use it regularly. G2 reviewers consistently rate it 4.5 out of 5 despite near-universal acknowledgment of its high cost. Reviewers frequently note that the speed of feedback, quality of the participant panel, and time saved on recruitment justify the expense for mid-market and enterprise teams. However, G2 users from small businesses and startups repeatedly flag UserTesting's pricing as prohibitive, with some noting costs equivalent to a full-time hire. The consensus is that UserTesting delivers excellent value when used frequently, but the pricing of UserTesting is difficult to justify for low-volume or budget-constrained teams.

"Great for Panel Sampling, Needs Improvement in In-App Coding"

What do you like best about UserTesting?

I really appreciate UserTesting for its ability to allow me to listen to audio and watch videos while coding the transcript simultaneously. This feature facilitates a seamless flow in reviewing research and brings a degree of efficiency to my work. Moreover, I find immense value in UserTesting’s panel sampling and recruitment features. These functionalities greatly enhance my process of gathering qualitative market insights and user feedback, which is crucial for the validation of designs and product bets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about UserTesting?

I wish I had more control over how I code in UserTesting and the ability to save quotes directly within the app. The current functionality doesn't allow for this, or I don't understand how to do it, and I find myself missing features like those offered by Dovetail, which our organization doesn't have access to. I use to use a connector between testing and DT in my last org. That was super helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
