## Twilio Reviews
  ### 1. Nonexistent Support and Unresolved Broken Features After Weeks

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe A. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

Fairly straight forward integration and a good basket of product offering.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

Their customer service is terrible, non-existent actually. They do not listen to anything you tell them and instead constantly feed you stock answers from the support docs regardless of relevancy. The goal seemed to be to get you to pay for a customer service package in order to get them to tell them where their system has failed.

I am now 6 weeks into an issue getting A2P 10DLC approved for 4 clients. I had already submitted all, having gone through their process. I never received an email that any were disapproved, then I log in one day to check and all are back at the starting point. I reached out to understand what and get them to again share the Brand to these 4 accounts, and while they said the share the Brand to all my account it took 3 emails to get that to actually be so. Now the Brand registration process only produces drafts, even though when I go through it, it says it has been successfully submitted. On a couple I have 10-12 draft brand registrations. They then started explaining to me how & what I needed to do to get the campaign registration done when I cannot even get to that point. I have now sent 4 emails to them with video showing conclusively that what I say is true and they flat out ignore me. Terrible

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are still providing texting & call tracking in my app, but at this point it is impossible to onboard any new clients for 6 weeks.

  ### 2. Frustrating Experience with Zero Support and Hidden Costs

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luke S. | Technical Project Manager, E-Learning, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

Honestly, there’s very little to highlight positively given our experience. While Twilio does offer a wide range of communication APIs (SMS, voice, etc.), the overall usability and support experience significantly overshadow any potential benefits. The platform might be powerful in theory, but in practice, the lack of responsive support and clarity makes it difficult to take advantage of those features effectively.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

The biggest downside has been the support experience. Responses are extremely slow or nonexistent, and when you do get something, it’s often generic and not helpful for real issues. Most of the initial support seems AI-driven and unable to handle anything beyond basic questions. On top of that, being asked to pay a significant additional fee just to access proper live support is frustrating and feels unreasonable.

We’ve also experienced challenges with reliability during testing and setup. The platform itself can feel overly complex without clear guidance, which makes onboarding and troubleshooting harder than it should be. Overall, the lack of timely support and clarity has made it difficult to rely on Twilio for critical business needs.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its not helping at all

  ### 3. Flexible and Reliable, but Requires Strong Cost Control

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Idrees G. | CMO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

The best thing about Twilio is that it doesn’t get in its own way. It’s flexible enough to grow with you, rather than becoming a bottleneck the moment you start to scale.

From a UX standpoint, they’ve nailed the "developer-first but human-friendly" balance. The console is clean, and even if you aren’t a coder, you can jump in to check logs or usage without feeling like you’re staring at the Matrix. Their documentation is arguably the gold standard—it actually makes the implementation process feel smooth rather than like a chore.

Where it really wins is how it plays with others. It plugs into CRMs like Salesforce or custom stacks so seamlessly that communication starts feeling like a built-in part of your workflow rather than a separate app you have to manage. Plus, the reliability is rock solid; you aren't constantly checking to see if messages actually went through.

The catch? It’s not the cheapest, and you definitely need to keep an eye on your billing as you grow. But for the ROI you get in automation and global reach, the trade-off usually makes sense. If you have the technical talent to steer it, Twilio is easily one of the most powerful engines you can put under the hood of your customer engagement strategy.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

What I dislike about Twilio is that it’s essentially a "bring your own engineer" platform. If you don't have a dedicated dev team, it can feel like you’re being handed a pile of parts without an instruction manual.

The UI is fine, but it’s clearly built for people who live in a terminal. For anyone in marketing or ops, trying to troubleshoot a failed message feels like trying to read code in the dark. You end up constantly tapping your engineers on the shoulder for things that should be simple buttons.

The biggest headache? The bill. The pricing is "flexible" in the same way a credit card is flexible—it’s great until you see the statement at the end of the month. Without someone babysitting the usage logs, costs can spiral before you even realize what happened. It’s a powerful engine, but it’s definitely high-maintenance.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Ending the "App Shuffle"
The biggest gap Twilio closes is the mental toll of jumping between five different tools just to talk to one customer. By centralizing everything into one programmable layer, it stops communication from being a "side quest" and makes it part of the main workflow. Even if the backend looks like it’s built for hackers, the result for everyone else is a cleaner, more organized workday.

2. Replacing "Hope" with Automation
We’ve all been there: a customer misses an appointment because someone forgot to send a reminder. Twilio fixes the "human error" problem. By hooking into your CRM (like Salesforce), it triggers texts or alerts automatically.

The old way: "I hope Joe remembers to call the client."

The Twilio way: The system sees a status change and sends the notification instantly. It’s consistent, tireless, and doesn't get distracted.

3. Reliability as Peace of Mind
Scaling a business is stressful enough without worrying if your "forgot password" texts are actually arriving. Twilio takes the "plumbing" of the global telecom network off your plate. You don't have to care about routing or uptime; you just know that when you hit "send," it gets there. For time-sensitive things like payment confirmations, that reliability is everything.

4. Buying Back Your Team's Time
Twilio isn't cheap, but it’s a strategic trade-off. You aren't just paying for an SMS; you’re paying to not hire an army of people to manually handle notifications. The ROI isn't just a line item—it’s the fact that your team is finally free from repetitive, boring tasks and can focus on stuff that actually grows the business.

5. Making Automation Feel Personal
The newest frontier for Twilio is making "automated" not feel "robotic." With AI and smart routing, it helps businesses have real, contextual conversations. Whether it’s a chatbot that actually knows who you are or a personalized message based on your last purchase, it solves the frustration of the "No-Reply" inbox.

  ### 4. Reliable, Developer-Friendly APIs for Scalable Communications

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

What I like most about Twilio is its developer-friendly APIs, which make it easy to build and scale communication features such as SMS, voice, video, email, and authentication. The platform is highly reliable, well documented, and integrates seamlessly with a wide range of applications. Its flexibility also allows businesses to create customized communication workflows without significant infrastructure overhead.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

Pricing can become a major issue as the user base grows, especially for businesses with high messaging or voice volumes. Some advanced features come with a learning curve for new users, and it can take time to fully understand the pricing structure across different services.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the challenge of integrating communication capabilities into applications without requiring businesses to build telecom infrastructure from scratch. It enables fast implementation of messaging, voice, video, email, and OTP authentication, helping improve customer engagement, automate notifications, and deliver a secure user experience while reducing development time.

  ### 5. Scam - No weight held in their product.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason D. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

Literally zero recommendations. Committed pure fraud in my eyes and I dont see myself ever using their platform at all. They ask for you to pay for their service first before youre even allowed to use their service which goes through an AI generated approval process. Extremely unfair.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

I hated that you had to pay first to MAYBE get to use their service. Its a scam, a con and fraud. I cannot get a refund. I am a small business that wanted to be able to send out push notifications to its employees and clients and now I am at a loss for words.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twilio has offered ZERO solution to me. No refunds or REAL HUMAN CONTACT.

  ### 6. High-Volume Emailing Without Risk, Plus Smooth SAML Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert B. | Lead Support Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

“Twilio SendGrid lets us send high volumes of marketing emails without putting our own domain reputation at risk. It also integrates well with SAML, which makes access management and security much easier for our team.”

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

One downside is that it is difficult to split costs cleanly between departments. In practice, we have had to maintain two separate accounts, which adds administrative overhead and makes the platform harder to manage. Another limitation is that the generated API keys are quite rigid, which creates challenges for some of our legacy applications and devices that have stricter length or formatting constraints. Improvements in account-level cost allocation and more flexible API key options would make the platform easier to operate.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Twilio SendGrid, sending marketing emails at scale while protecting our main domain reputation was more difficult to manage. Twilio helps us separate that activity more cleanly, so we can run larger email campaigns with less risk to our core sending reputation. It has also helped from an access and administration standpoint because the SAML integration makes user authentication and access control easier to manage across the team. Overall, it solves the need for scalable email delivery and centralized access management, which makes our marketing operations more reliable and easier to control.

  ### 7. Reliable Global Messaging with Affordable Rates and Superb Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rongen R. | Digital Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

Twilio is the most reliable global messaging platform and it can connect with most popular VoiP systems. It's also has affordable local number in most countries and cheap outbound and inbound calls/messages rate. Their support is superb. The platform dashboard is easy to navigate for users with tech background.

My team uses Twilio daily as it's integrated with our GHL CRM, and 3CX.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

Twilio is a developer's dream because of its flexible APIs and global reach, Its easy to scale our messaging. However, the technical setup is little demanding, and the pay-as-you-go costs spiked unexpectedly as our contacts and sales call grew. It’s powerful if you have the coding talent, but the slow customer support and complex compliance hurdles can be a major headache.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't have to build a phone system or a data hub from scratch. It saves us huge amounts of time and lets the team focus on our business & customers.

  ### 8. Developer-Friendly APIs and Flexible Channels for Reliable Communication

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

What I like most about Twilio is its developer-friendly APIs and communication channel flexibility. It makes it easy to integrate messaging, voice, email, and authentication capabilities into applications without having to manage complex telecom infrastructure. Well-documented APIs that simplify integration and testing. Support for multiple communication channels, including SMS, voice, WhatsApp, and email. Reliable delivery and status tracking for messages. Scalable infrastructure that supports both small and large workloads. Strong support for OTP, verification, and authentication workflows. The most valuable feature is the ease of integration. Whether implementing OTP verification, transactional notifications, or customer communication workflows, Twilio allows developers to get started quickly and provides the tools needed to monitor and troubleshoot communication delivery. The biggest benefit is that it abstracts away the complexity of telecom and messaging infrastructure, allowing teams to focus on building features rather than managing communication systems.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

The biggest drawback is cost predictability. Twilio offers excellent functionality and reliability, but as usage grows, communication costs can increase significantly, making it important to monitor usage and optimize messaging workflows. That said, the quality of the APIs, reliability, and breadth of communication options generally outweigh these concerns, especially for applications where dependable customer communication is critical.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twilio solves the problem of building and managing communication infrastructure for applications. Instead of setting up and maintaining separate systems for SMS, voice calls, WhatsApp messaging, email, and user verification, Twilio provides APIs that make these capabilities readily available. Simplifies implementation of SMS notifications and OTP verification. Enables automated customer communication across multiple channels. Reduces the complexity of managing telecom integrations. Provides delivery tracking and monitoring for communication workflows. Supports scalable messaging and notification systems as applications grow. In my day-to-day work, Twilio helps deliver transactional messages, authentication codes, alerts, and customer notifications without requiring extensive infrastructure management. This allows development teams to focus on application features rather than communication systems.
The biggest benefit is faster development and improved reliability. Features like user verification, notifications, and customer communication can be implemented quickly while leveraging Twilio's established infrastructure and delivery capabilities.

  ### 9. Easy Phone Number Setup and Clear SMS Logs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristen C. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

It’s very easy to buy a phone number and connect it to n8n (or any other automation app) using an API or webhook. I also like how simple it is to view the logs and quickly confirm whether there were any SMS delivery errors.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

It takes a long time to get a phone number approved for SMS delivery with the A2P campaign registry.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Twilio for all my Vapi voice bots and for all the SMS messages I send out. I love that I can have an AI voice bot call a customer and also text them from the same phone number.

  ### 10. Efficient Customer Outreach with Twilio

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary Christine T. | Account specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Twilio?**

I like how Twilio allows us to customize the numbers and call customers all over the world without any limits. The same goes for using chat. It's great that as long as you have it integrated on your website under the support page, anyone from all over the world can reach our support team without any issues. The initial setup was very easy; we just needed to log in as it was already set up by the IT specialist, making it really convenient.

**What do you dislike about Twilio?**

It could sometimes be difficult as there are some Twilio issues that could happen. It's very rare and unexpected, but sometimes it can be annoying and inconvenient, especially if you need to reach out to the customer as soon as possible.

**What problems is Twilio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Twilio to efficiently communicate with customers through inbound, outbound calls, and chat. It allows customization for customer preferences, offering call requests or chat support, ensuring timely and convenient interactions.
