Spine is easy to use, has a nice and flexible interface, is stable and fast (even on my laptop, that is not a super machine), has a great workflow between setup characters and animating them, and principally has a great and powerful Runtime for integrating with Unity, that give you many options and a superb workflow for making changes in the animations even after they are integrated in your game. Spine is not cheap. The professional version is U$ 299,00 paid upfront, so you probably have many indie developers that cannot afford the tool. Even knowing that it delivers value for that cost, it would be great if Esoteric implemented flexible month to month plans so the cost could be divided in the long run for people that don't have the money for it upfront.
