## Skills Base Reviews
  ### 1. Captures Team Skills and Builds Better Project Teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve S. | Venture Partner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

It’s been incredibly beneficial for capturing our team’s skill sets and helping us assemble resources into project teams with the right mix of skills. We’re also starting to use the AI agents, and we’re already finding practical use cases—such as identifying non-technical staff for targeted AI training.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Setting up the taxonomies is a bit of work

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to track our skill sets across the organisation for resource planning, keeping certifications up to date and a spreadsheet was no longer an option

  ### 2. Good tool, magnificent support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MIRIAM L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

I have been utilizing Skills Base at Bertrandt Technology for the past year, and it has proven to be a valuable asset to our team's skill management and development processes.

The ability to identify and assess the skills within our team has greatly improved our understanding of strengths and areas for improvement.

The user interface of Skills Base is intuitive and user-friendly. Navigating through the platform is a smooth experience, and the layout facilitates quick access to the information we need. This simplicity has played a crucial role in the widespread adoption of the tool within our team. Nevertheless, the interface could be a bit more attractive, specially the assessment part.

The platform's functionality has enabled us to tailor training and development programs more effectively, resulting in noticeable improvements in our team members' skill sets.

One of the standout aspects of our experience has been the exceptional support service provided by Skills Base. I have to specially mention George Tsitsis and, of course, Daniel Abou Jaoude, who has helped us during the first steps and all the way after that.

While our experience has been largely positive, there are some parts that needs to be improved. It would be beneficial to explore additional features that could further enhance the customization of the views, like the columns we can see in the people list.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

- Interface is not as attractive as we would like to.
- The level of customization is limited.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to have an skills matrix of all the Team and we used to have it on an Excel doc. Skills Base help us a lot with that and now we can see the knowledge and interest of our team. We can see if some of them has experience in a skills we need for a project upcoming.

  ### 3. Professional and intuitive competence management tool replacing excel

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nico d. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

The flexibility in skills structure, categories, roles. Many features and reports with good added value. The self-assesment and supervisor assesment. The possibility to indicate interest levels.
Good and responsive customer support.
Good cooperation and support during our pilot and the actual roll-out into the organization.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Not always the behavior I would like, but with help of customer support mostly solved.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Much better competence management tool than what we used before (Excel).
With Skills Base we think we can cover the folowing use cases:
1.	Make sure that we have sufficient knowledge, experience and skills at all levels
    - Identify knowledge gaps => training
    - Helps recruitment focus on missing skill profiles
2.	Discuss individual skills and interests with engineers in 1-on-1
    - Connection with Personal Training Plan
3.	Finding people with certain skill profile

  ### 4. Using skills base for business

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

Nothing to dislike. Maybe it could be more phone friendly

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Following emplyees development

  ### 5. Fantastic Skills tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason R. | Solutions Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

There are two things I like the most one is the visual analysis of skills categories which enables me to easily see my teams training needs and the other is how skills base empowers all team members to see and develop their skills and career.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

I would like to see more visual reporting perhaps using power bi and also I would like to be able to remove specific skill assesment data.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It Enables us to see the skills we have and require across our organisation as a whole, with this view we can better invest in our people now and for future requirements, enabling us to innovate and keep up with the ever changing world of technology.

  ### 6. Excellent tool for skill management, Skills Base

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** 지환 . | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

It gives you many options for organizing and measuring skills in different ways, including team and role skills.

A variety of templates help you avoid having to enter skills manually. Even with thousands of skills, it's simple to enter and manage.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

The functionality is simple and good, but the interface is not. It would be nice to see a more modern and trendy user interface, which would give it a more polished and clean look.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows you to look at the capabilities of your organization's people around skills and think about how you can leverage them. It also helps employees understand what skills and levels the company is looking for and gives them direction on how to grow.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

The platform is easy to navigate. Data is very well organized and access controlled. The support team is very responsive and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

The reporting feature could be better. Integrating simple visualization to the reporting feature, such as the Capability Matrix, would provide a better high level overview of skills capability.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Central repository of skills and qualification data. A helpful companion in resource management and career development functions.

Skills Base allows us to cut through the noise and see our capability gaps. Skills Base has been a tremendous help in determining our team formations and next recruiting drives as part of our growth story. It's been amazing in helping us achieve our goals.

Our teams have quickly picked up how use and implement the tools, and whenever we ran into to trouble there was great support to help!

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

There isn't that much that is annoying or things to dislike

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to know our capability gaps to meet our growth targets. Skills Base has helped organise our skills into actionable insight and driven decision making to enhance our growth

  ### 9. Skills Base experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Benjamin I. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

The customer service, and the way the reports can be generated

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

How information that is exported from Skills Base does not easily upload back to Skills Base.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving us as a global company a 1 stop shop to view all of the skils and skill levels across our workforce. Allows us to see what areas we need to address with training.

  ### 10. Easy to use software that makes a difference!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Semiconductors | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

Easy to use and understand. The help videos and menus.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Cannot change rating schemes to apply to different parts of an organization like mine that has one set of settings per its subscription to the software.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The reporting feature especially helps my managers make training and other key decisions.

  ### 11. Excellent platform for Upskilling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miriam S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

Skills Base is an intuitive platform designed for seamless skill management and effective upskilling of employees.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

A creative landing page would be a good addition.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Adding teams to the platform

  ### 12. Optimise your team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

Skills Base is a really simple tool to use when evaluating your teams skills. It helps identify gaps and gives you focus on where additional support needs to be placed. The holistic view on skills is realy cool. A great tool when building your team and wanting to ensure you optimise every team member.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Not a dislike but more of an additional idea. If you could take the data on where you lack skills and use AI to create job descriptions that could then be automatically posted to job boads - this would streamline the recruitment process as well.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping to get better use out of my team

  ### 13. Skills Base | The Skills Review Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sagari B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

1. Simple, fast and convenient user experience
2. Brilliant individualistic as well as holistic skills view for the user and the manager (one can compare one's skills performance with others having similar skills in the organization)
3. Superb reporting feature, which helps build a meaningful skills dashboard for the corporate leadership
4. Great value for money; with their pricing, it's a must-have, as it does more good to you than cost you!!!

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

1. Subjective skills rating, similar to subjective performance rating (managers' skills rating bias cannot be discounted). Revamp the review tool into a review-cum-assessment tool to evaluate skills objectively
2. Team structuring on the tool is complicated from the admin's point of view. Team labeling is based on the manager's name rather than on the practice/project/product/process name to ensure data privacy; this leads to multiple changes on the tool as practice/project/product/process is more stable and less susceptible to change than people managers

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are building skill levels in product research, product development, product management and product support, among other things, in the cloud space. Hence, the new knowledge and skill base make it critical to constantly monitor skill engagement and proficiency to ensure an incremental increase in the skill index (and also that we are not falling back in our engagement with our customers). The tool helps us identify the skill gaps to curate learning offerings that will bridge that gap internally. This further converges time, effort, and money to be focused on actual and real-time learning and development needs.

  ### 14. An agile and scalable Skills management solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom A. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

Simple and intuitive UI
People Finder and Heat Map reporting is invaluable and market-leading
Continued enhancements improve the product and usage
Great dashboard capability
Ease of use and capture of skills and reporting of those skills and gaps

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Not a dislike per se but would love to see API support from Skills Base relative to exporting Skills and using this to build skills profiles in 3rd party systems
Also would love to see functionality that allows the user to import Individual Learning Plans and track progress of these plans via the app

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 15. Skills Base: The Simple, User-friendly , Value for Money Skills and Learning Management Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashwinikumar L. | Program Manager | Customer Experience and Engagement, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

1. simple, quick, and convenient to use, As a user, you don't need to spend time learning how to use it because it's so straightforward.

2. The reporting feature is good and provides a good insight on the overall skill composition of a team or an individual.

3. The Learning integration is quite simple and can work with any existing LMS, the logic for content recommendation is also very straightforward and works flawlessly.

4. Quick Support Turnaround: The support staff is excellent; if you ever need assistance, I'm confident you'll get it all the same day.

5. Excellent value; at this price, you just must have it because it allows you to quickly and affordably discover the team's learning needs and skills gaps.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

1. Lack of support for multiple team allocation to users: In some situations, a user may be a member of more than one team; however, this cannot be tracked in the skills base.

2. Need for additional easily accessible simple reports: Administrators and supervisors have access to some information on the team dashboard (Most Skilled , Most Interested, Top Skill, Top Intrest, Top Qualification etc), but those details cannot be included in straightforward reports. If such information could be downloaded via a simple report as well, that would be incredibly beneficial.

3. The reports can have more crisper; for instance, the capability matrix report will extract data for the selected role but will also spam the report with other roles blank details.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Associate Enablement and Development: The only way to enable our workforce is to get an insight into what they know identify the gaps and enable them by addressing those gaps.
2. From a Business perscpective, it gives us a insight into our teams skill composition and helps us to address these shortcomings by making a strategic decision on training and hiring efforts.

  ### 16. Skills Base is a great tool if...

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Addi N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

I really like that we are able to load several different roles with targets by role.
It was also super helpful to be able to load several different skills (over 200) with multiple hierarchy levels.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

What I find hardest to do is keep teams and managers set up and get users to take their assessments and update them periodically. This isn't really a system limitation, just something to keep in mind if you have a sizeable organization - who will manage the admin of the site?

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skills Base provides a central location for all of our organization to track their skills and competencies. They can match their level against a target for role and identify gaps to work on with their manager. And it allows our center of excellence to determine where the org has a whole needs extra training that we can coordinate.

  ### 17. Good value for money, and helps us skill up our team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

We found Skills-Base easy to use, and we like how easy it is for our staff to self-assess. We initially used it for our tech team, but are now rolling it out across the whole business. I'd definitely recommend it.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Some parts of the interface feel a little old-fashioned. The process for updating the number of licenses and paying invoices, etc. is also fairly manual.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skills base helps us to track both the skills that our staff have, and the skills they most enjoy or want to have. It is great when doing 1-to-1s and appraisals, and helps us plan resource for projects.

I would just love it if they would do the same thing but for tracking customer and project requirements. So that we can then match people to projects automatically.

  ### 18. The most versatile talent management system available today

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jake P. | Human Capital Consulting Director, Professional Training & Coaching, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

- Flexible architecture that can adapt to very simple or very complex talent management models
- Easy to integrate with HR, learning, and performance management systems
- Embedded report builder is powerful and intuitive
- Role-based permissions and granular interface settings make controlling data access easy
- Single Sign-On makes it easy for organizations to grant access using work emails
- APIs and data exports make it easy to get data into other systems

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Not much...

There is a learning curve involved in designing your custom skill model. However, that step is important for ensuring your model reflects your organization's culture, strategy, and practices. In Skills Base, it's easy to quickly configure a working model and then make iterative improvements over time.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skill shortages plague many modern industries. Skills Base is the most efficient means of identifying, measuring, and resolving skill gaps available on the market today.

It's ideal for organizations that want to foster cultures of empowerment, transparency, and accountability. I use it to upend traditional skill development practices, encouraging employees to take ownership of their developmental paths and managers to make leveraged investments in their people.

  ### 19. Incredible toolset to support our skills management initiative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

Flexibility of the toolset, guidance information from the site and team, professional consulting, pricepoint is so helpful, and willingness by the support team to help.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Not much, to be honest. Even the enhancements I have asked for - skill pathing and others - were already on the roadmap. And my Account Manager is 12 hours away and still responsive 24 hours a day.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gathering information on who has what skills and what level that skill is at for each individual. Also, identifying gaps and upskilling needs. Plus the training paths and assignments is incredible. The export and API helps us blend the information into Workday for HR purposes.

  ### 20. SkillBase Delivers The Right Skills & Competency Database

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ganie V. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

* Ease of use for both users and administrators, thus encouraging high adoption
* Can configure privacy of data per country/location
* Great implementation and post-project support
* Reasonably priced as compared to similar SaaS's

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

* Limited number off-the-shelf reports
* Unable to customize the dashboard

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SkillsBase provides visibility of our skills and competency in order to take actions like assigning training courses and project mentorships, thus it enables us to improve our competencies in delivering our services, and improving staff morale.
As a SaaS solution, it offers centralized database that is accessible anytime and from anywhere.

  ### 21. Completely customizable skills gap analysis tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick K. | Manager - IT Networks, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

It's an open canvas, you can really build out your org structures, roles, teams, skills anyway you want to and its relatively intuitive and easy to get started

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

There wasn't much guidance or support to help get started or best practices templates. The tool is also very labor intensive to manage. I'd like to better understand the API options to integrate with other systems.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Skills Base to identify our skills gaps across our I.T. Teams as well capture the technologies our team members are most interested in

  ### 22. Great snapshot of the team at any one time

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linda W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

It provides an easy to use interface for the whole team to use that helps to determine engagement across multiple factors at any stage. Creates an opportunity to discuss.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

Like any product or system, it needs strong sponsorship for it to be used. Nothing specific about the tool itself.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A greater understanding across the team of what the gaps are to execute strategy.

  ### 23. An excellent tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

The pre-prepared skills matrixes accelerate time to implementation. The tool is easy to navigate for users and set up is straight forward for owners.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

There isn't anything I dislike about Skills Base so far

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lack of visibility of the skills we already have has been a challenge as we redefine our business model. This allows to assess the skills we have against future requirements

  ### 24. Adopting Skills-Base for Ineternet Service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alan K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

Already has an architecture in place that is GDPR compliant, highly configurable, with granular security.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

There are a couple of things I would like from a configuration viewpoint, but I understand that the existing architecture was not designed as a global solution.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing a standard for the skills required in the agricultural industry, as well as health and safety compliance and team management/recruitment.

  ### 25. Great (and flexible) tool to manage the skills in your organization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaime T. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

Flexibility: plenty of options like roles, skills, skills set, assessment cadence, integrations via API, LDAP, etc. Skills Base is the right tool if you need a tool that adapts to your organization.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

It will not create a framework for you to manage your skills. You need to invest time into selecting the relevant skills, roles, etc., so the tool can shine.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating skill sets, managing users' ratings and qualifications and integrating that data into other systems to make smarter decisions. We don't need to guess who knows what; thanks to Skills Base, we can identify the right associate for the job.

  ### 26. Director of Professional Services

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jay C. | Director, Profesional Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Skills Base?**

Skills Base is a great tool that helps us align our engineering talent with incoming projects. It has a very simple, yet intuitive interface that makes finding information quickly.

**What do you dislike about Skills Base?**

I would like to see the ability to segment sections of the database to have administrators of certain areas, not everything.

**What problems is Skills Base solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Aligning engineers quickly with projects.

  ### 27. Skills Base transforms how we track skills and evolve skills in our business

The qualifications database needs improving.
