Archaic, manual, and unintuitive. Some of the best we've worked with. The employee experience was nice. **What do you dislike about Sequoia Advisory?** The people were lovely, but unfortuntately that doesn't make up for the archaic and clunky software. Most of our daily and monthly processes were entirely manual, and we ended up needing to cancel our contract with them 6 months in. We moved to a competitor and couldn't be happier with them. Some extra details: What they don't show you in the sale process is the back end system, Prism HR, which is where an admin will actually be spending most of their time. It's incredibly archaic and unintuitive. They don't prioritize integrations with other tools in the space. For instance, we didn't want to use their partner 401k provider (also archaic), but they have absolutely no way to integrate with any other providers (which is uncommon in this space) so we had to do a manual export every month, which was tedious because their back end reporting tool was so unintuitive. Giving employees raises was overly complex, and their team actually recommended that we fill out a templated spreadsheet and have them file all the salary changes instead of us making the changes ourselves because their own UI was so difficult. There's nothing that can be done self-serve. Everything needs to be handled by a member of their team, again because their platform is so unintuitive. The onboarding process was cumbersome and overly complex. We've been with a competitor for over 6 months now, and I'm blown away at how easy some of these processes can be in a tool that actually prioritizes the user experience. Overall, we made a huge mistake moving forward with Sequoia. I'm not one to write negative reviews, but I wish I had done more research and seen more reviews like this ahead of our decision. Unfortunately I would not recommend Sequoia to anyone. **What problems is Sequoia Advisory solving and how is that benefiting you?** We bought us to help with payroll and benefits. ### 2. They work with you as a partner and not treating you like a number. **What do you dislike about Sequoia Advisory?** No negative feedback, but since benefit enrollment is hectic, and they have a lot of great resource tools, the ramp-up to get acclimated with tools and systems can take some time to utilize best. **Recommendations to others considering Sequoia Advisory:** If need to update benefit plan design and options, as well as cost savings and adding more programs internally - they provide great data and insight into the market - to help make decisions. **What problems is Sequoia Advisory solving and how is that benefiting you?** We moved from a small broker (tied to HRIS) to better our benefit plans and a better benefits broker. We needed to update our HRIS and benefit plan design, and we used Sequoia to partner with on this change for 2023. ### 3. They will give generic answers which don't even answer my question. Probably it is a great platform to do your generic HR tasks but once you have an issue - all their staff will act weird with ZERO intention of helping you out. They meet the minimum requirements/expectations for a business doing what they do. **What do you dislike about Sequoia Advisory?** Most of it. - Their insurance plans offerings are very limited - They have a lot of extra 'perks' that are really just a bunch of companies trying to make money off of Sequoia users (to be fair, this is the case for many benefits providers) - Their software is often buggy/unintuitive - They have no direct phone number for employees to contact support, everything has to be done over email, at least at first. **What problems is Sequoia Advisory solving and how is that benefiting you?** We want a PEO, they are a PEO, it works. ### 5. It is so simple and easy to use. In the past with other benefits providers, I have had to search through multiple different apps to access all of the necessary information. **What do you dislike about Sequoia Advisory?** I have found it difficult to figure out how to request PTO on the mobile app. It can be very confusing to find it. Conversely, on the desktop app it is much more streamlined. I find the UX/UI on the desktop version to be much more intuitive overall. **Recommendations to others considering Sequoia Advisory:** I think it is an excellent choice for an insurance and benefits provider for employees! Through Sequoia we get the proper guidance and support to effectively manage outsourced payroll, benefits, compliance and risk management. **What do you dislike about Sequoia Advisory?** The daily work of the whole team is carried out mainly within the company, through a desktop PC or laptop, therefore, the application with support for mobile devices contains many additional benefits that the desktop application does not yet offer. , so when we need any of these we must use mobile devices. We are not affected by this, but it would be a nice feature that would improve the experience as a whole. **Recommendations to others considering Sequoia Advisory:** Through the use and implementation of this platform we can obtain an effective management of the human resources office, developing a more organized management of tasks outlined by the recommendations that sequoia provides us. In addition to this, it has a version for mobile devices, with which you can obtain much more additional participation data, offering a better experience on the go for company managers and employees in general. **What problems is Sequoia Advisory solving and how is that benefiting you?** We evaluated the administration programs, as well as the health benefits campaigns, improving the management of the entire benefits system that we have, that is, life insurance, health and all family welfare programs and more. For its part, to have complete certainty that everything is being carried out in accordance with the strategies we obtain with Sequoia, we monitor the costs of the program or campaigns, thus viewing detailed information related to employee use through extensive analysis. ### 11. It is easy to use and runs quickly. **What do you dislike about Sequoia Advisory?** I constantly have log in issues with the app. It acts as if I am a new user and will often ask me to create an account rather than log in. Once I am able to get into the app, it is great, however, getting there can be a hassle. **Recommendations to others considering Sequoia Advisory:** The issues with log in may just be my personal experience and not necessarily the experience of the majority. You never have to worry about not having your insurance card on you because it's always in your pocket - and on your phone- whenever you need it. **What do you dislike about Sequoia Advisory?** The only thing I would change about Sequoia is that although you can find providers in your network in a designated area, it doesn't let you schedule appointments. In addition, the platform app they built is very convenient so I don't need to carry around a physical benefits card anymore. It might be an okay system to use if your company is still small and growing, but as per a user's perspective, it is a "not so great" experience. ### 17. We switched over from an independent plan because we were a small startup and went into the Sequoia network to get much better plans and benefits. They gave us access to a website called perkspot and even a One Medical membership in the Bay Area. **What do you dislike about Sequoia Advisory?** The support I received as an employee whenever I had an inquiry was strong, but I heard contradictory things regarding the support our company administrator received. There were supposedly a lot of hiccups in the setup process and clerical errors that were made on their part which caused us some headache. ### 24.
