What I like most about ScaleOps is how it simplifies Kubernetes cost optimization without requiring constant manual tuning. It automatically right-sizes workloads, reduces waste, and improves resource efficiency while maintaining performance and reliability.
The UI/UX is clean and intuitive, making it easy to understand recommendations, track changes, and monitor impact without a steep learning curve. On top of that, the pricing feels justified given the ROI—it quickly pays for itself through the cost savings it drives, especially in larger clusters where unused resources can add up significantly.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

One thing I find challenging about ScaleOps is that the automation can sometimes feel a bit opaque—you don’t always get deep visibility into why certain rightsizing decisions were made, which can make debugging or building trust harder initially.

There’s also a bit of a learning curve when it comes to fine-tuning exclusions and policies, especially for stateful or sensitive workloads where you want tighter control. And while the UI is generally clean, it could offer more granular insights or historical comparisons to better understand long-term impact.

We’re saving a fortune with workload rightsizing alone, and we’re also seeing better performance when compute demand spikes. The web interface is genuinely intuitive, and the built-in dashboards make it easy to understand every aspect of our workload performance.

I would like to see more details in their documentation as to how things work under the hood. It's a bit of a black box as is.

I would like it if ScaleOps documentation was versioned so I could see changes made to docs. At times documentation has changed or been unclear, this could be improved but is still good.

**What do you like best about ScaleOps?**

I really enjoyed how the integration with ScaleOps was super easy and fast. It only required minimal manual changes and custom configurations, and getting started was as simple as two clicks. We have many clusters and different workloads running, and we assumed the rollout would take us months, but we were able to deploy ScaleOps in a month and a half. This made the setup process incredibly smooth and efficient.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

Some undocumented behaviors can be surprising when encountered for the first time, like the behavior after changing the CPU requests after automation was enabled on the HPA behavior. There's a lot of documentation on installation and monitoring processes, but not so much on things to expect or known issues and behaviors that the customer needs to take into account.

**What do you like best about ScaleOps?**

I use ScaleOps to automate my Kubernetes resources, which helps decrease my cloud costs. I really appreciate that I don't need to keep reviewing my resource allocations every time because ScaleOps does it for me, and it does it in a better way by understanding the current resource usage and making decisions based on that. I like how the tool does what it needs to do perfectly, and I find the support team to be pretty helpful. Every issue I have, I get a response with a solution really fast. The initial setup was pretty easy too.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

I would like to be able to consider a window time longer than 30 days while being able to select a custom period of time in the UI to have a better view. I wish I were able to have a look at the values.yaml of the chart in a better way.

The ScaleOps installation process is impressively simple and seamless. The Parent Dashboard feature is particularly valuable, allowing effortless management of multiple ScaleOps instances across the enterprise — a great advantage for organizations with numerous Kubernetes clusters.

The ScaleOps team deserves special mention for their responsiveness and support; they are always available to address queries and proactively assist in resolving issues.

One of the biggest benefits is that you no longer need to manually monitor and resize applications in each cluster. This automation translates to significant time and cost savings, making ScaleOps a highly efficient solution for enterprise-scale Kubernetes management.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

The cost savings projected on the dashboard should more accurately reflect the actual savings achieved through node reduction. At times, the displayed figures can be somewhat misleading.

Frequent product updates require regular upgrades, which can be challenging to manage in environments with a tedious or highly controlled change management process.

I've been thoroughly impressed with ScaleOps. Setting it up was incredibly straightforward—a simple Helm chart installation had everything running in no time. What stands out to me is how it handles all the tedious Kubernetes optimization tasks automatically. It determines the optimal settings for our workloads, which has significantly improved our efficiency and reduced costs, all without the need to constantly adjust resource requests by hand.

The dashboard is also excellent. It provides a clear overview of activity across our clusters, offering insights that are genuinely useful for troubleshooting issues quickly. Using ScaleOps feels like having a smart assistant quietly ensuring everything stays optimized. In short, it just works, which is exactly what I want from a tool like this. I highly recommend it.

The user interface is extremely intuitive, and the scaling works just as I hoped it would. Setting everything up is incredibly quick, with most configurations already handled out of the box, so only minimal adjustments are needed during onboarding. I also appreciate how quickly new features are released in response to customer feedback.
We are using ScaleOps in all of our clusters, and we can see a great cost reduction right from the start.
Except me as an administrator of the system, even the software engineers are using the system for investigate issues with workloads, kind of all in one place for kubernetes.
A must-use service for any organization that mind their scaling while keeping their costs clean tide.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

While managing per cluster is perfect, still missing cross-cluster operations support, which is kind of must when dealing with multi clusters infrastructure.
Karpenter optimization suggestions can be improved to rely on customer constrains like max pods set by the kubelet.

**What problems is ScaleOps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TL;DR: This tool offers optimization on three levels—workloads, replicas, and machines.

For workload optimization, I no longer have to guess the precise CPU and memory request parameters for my services. Everything is handled seamlessly in real time, which allows me to focus on other important tasks. This has resulted in significant cost savings for my organization. Additionally, it helps me investigate service issues as they arise, reducing the time needed to find a solution by at least 50% to 70%. There are also numerous dashboards that provide both Kubernetes-level and machine-level insights, giving me a much deeper understanding of my clusters.

Replica optimization is just as straightforward. Determining the right number of replicas has never been easier, and it can be done with a single click.

Node optimization stands out by combining awareness of both workloads and the nodes they run on. This is a notoriously difficult challenge, and I have to admit I’m genuinely impressed by how easy they’ve made it to use.

I love the UI and the observability dashboards that ScaleOps offers, which provide great insights into our workloads. It makes it really easy to investigate any problems. Also, it's extremely easy to set up, and it works perfectly fine when used with ArgoCD.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

I think the UI user authentication process can be improved. At the moment we are storing the user access details in a ConfigMap for ScaleOps to read and allow user access. The ConfigMap can easily cross 1Mb on large clusters making it unusable. So maybe a completely different way to allow automatic user access would be great.

**What problems is ScaleOps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ScaleOps right-sizes our Kubernetes workloads across 400 clusters. I love the UI and observability dashboards, which make it easy to get great insights and investigate problems.

I find it to be a well-made application that utilizes the latest Kubernetes features. I also like the excellent documentation and support, and it covers all the use cases we need. Initially, setting it up was easy, and with the help of ScaleOps engineers, we successfully transitioned from test configuration to production-ready.

ScaleOps was easy to setup in our 6 main GKE clusters each with about ~1k unique workloads using 350 nodes and ~3k cores in total.  We worked closely with ScaleOps' team during the integration, and they provided support quickly.  We've saved about 30k USD per month in compute costs with ScaleOps optimized rightsizing since installing it.  In addition to cost savings, we've seen a huge improvement in the frequency of OOM kills in the platform, from The automated right-sizing is much easier to scale in our organization with hundreds of developers than previous solutions for workload right-sizing.  The custom policies of ScaleOps make it easy to control right-sizing for different workloads' latency, reliability, and technical needs, giving us the flexibility to drive aggressive cost optimization where we can, while leaving a wide berth for more critical and demanding workloads.  Using their GitOps-style configuration of policies and attaching workloads to those policies allows us to control this at scale despite having 6k distinct workloads to configure.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

While running ScaleOps in-cluster offers certain benefits for reliability and security, the required Prometheus deployment consumes a significant amount of CPU and memory, which reduces our overall cost savings.  Additionally, managing Prometheus ourselves means we need to develop expertise in its operation to keep ScaleOps functioning properly.  As with automated rightsizing, relying on ScaleOps to maintain optimal workload sizing introduces a dependency, making ScaleOps itself a potential single point of failure in our infrastructure.  There are also some bugs in the UI.  For example, CronJobs do not apply their GitOps-configured policies until they actually run.  The user interface is extremely sluggish, likely because of the high number of workloads we have.  It appears the front-end loads all workloads into memory and manipulates them during interaction, which causes slow JavaScript responses to actions like clicking and mouse-over.

Many of the features besides workload rightsizing seem immature and/or don't provide anything more than what is provided baseline by Kubernetes or GKE.  For example the cluster headroom can easily be accomplished using the official Kubernetes node over-provisioning documentation (https://kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/administer-cluster/node-overprovisioning/) with significantly more ability to customize for your use-case.  Their "spot optimization" feature doesn't provide any value-add for us that we don't already get from GKEs built-in compute-class feature.  I'm not sure of the real-world use-case of their replicas optimization feature, but it seems completely useless to us.  I think the other features besides workload rightsizing have been added as fluff to market the product to management without providing real-technical value to companies using ScaleOps.  This isn't a real a problem for us, as we weren't interested in anything but workload rightsizing when we purchased the solution.

ScaleOps handles continuous workload rightsizing for us across six GKE clusters (~6k workloads, ~350 nodes, ~3k cores).  We define policies that reflect latency and reliability needs versus cost, attach workloads via GitOps, and it adjusts requests/limits as workloads change.  The impact is measurable: roughly $30k/month in compute savings since deployment, fewer OOM kills, and less manual effort to keep sizing appropriate at scale.

While I greatly appreciate the cost savings aspect of ScaleOps, I find it as one of my go-to tools for general observability/monitoring of our system. It provides me with an easy way to see potential issues and misconfigurations within our system. We have unearthed many "skeletons" from ScaleOps. Finally, I would be remiss without calling out the support from the ScaleOps team. On multiple occasions, we had issues in the system and the ScaleOps team helped us analyze and remediate. The issue was NOT caused by ScaleOps tooling, but they were patient and dedicated enough to walk us through the real root cause.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

I wouldn't call it a dislike, but I would like to see continued feature enrichment on the node management and host side. I can see what ScaleOps wants to do, but I have a difficult time following Karpenter's decision making. I would like to see this in a fully integrated view to understand pod and node movement. Additionally, I have specialized nodes running their own host applications, outside the purview of Kubernetes and sometimes impacting resource management. It would be incredible to have ScaleOps be aware of those system resource usage and factor that into kubelet/system reserved capacity.

- Properly provisioning infrastructure capacity to match workload need. We had very little resource requests configuration and had limited time to invest in determining those values. Our clusters run at much higher utilization now, this is a big cost savings.
- System misconfigurations. ScaleOps made erratic service behavior more obvious. We were able to chase down various issues that we noticed from the ScaleOps UI versus our own dashboards. This helped us to pinpoint issues and reduce resolutions times.

Scaleops scan our k8s services and whatever details it fetch from cluser, it show over UI.
I observed some of the HPA which is not in use should be handled from Scaleops backed.

Scaleops help us to reduce our k8s service cost, scaling up and down pods according to the load.
This is cost efficient for us and easy to automate k8s clusters and services.

Currently, we are working with Oracle Cloud, but unfortunately, this cloud is not supported only for node integration features.

Scallops makes resizing workloads in Kubernetes effortless. It’s truly a plug-and-play experience — we deployed it once and it’s been running smoothly ever since. It takes care of scaling automatically and has made our day-to-day operations seamless.

The system is very good overall, but it’s not very intuitive or easy for non-technical users. It takes some effort to understand all the features and get the most out of the available tools. Once you get familiar with it, though, it’s incredibly powerful.

Before Scallops, managing workload scaling required constant tweaking and monitoring. Now, it’s completely automated. We spend less time managing infrastructure and more time building products. It’s made our Kubernetes environment far more efficient and predictable.

This tool not only delivers on its promises but also exceeds expectations. I consider it an essential addition to almost all Kubernetes clusters.

So far, I haven't encountered any downsides. The tool performs exactly as needed, making it easy to achieve efficient CPU and memory allocation within Kubernetes.

**What problems is ScaleOps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our problem WAS hundreds of applications deployed into a Kubernetes cluster with no way to manage the normal over-provisioning of cpu & memory needed for pods that essentially is wasting costly compute you are running.  ScaleOps solves this by scaling these requests down to what is actually needed and managing them over time, which takes a human out of the equation and saves countless hours of labor.

The ScaleOps team has been very supportive throughout the complete journey of integrating the service with our existing infrastructure and beyond. They have also been quite proactive at tackling issues. The product itself is well designed and executed, providing cost savings without compromising on availability.

Being a new product, we did run into some issues after version upgrades, and I felt additional scale testing and testing more diverse scenarios could have caught those. But the team came back with quick troubleshooting and fixes.

For Rubrik, ScaleOps has been instrumental in saving costs by right-sizing services without the overhead of managing configuration for all of them in different environments with varied scale.

I really appreciated how straightforward it was to get started. Our customer team played a significant role in ensuring we made the most of the tool. Once we activated and configured it, we began to see savings right away.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

Scaleops enables direct deployment of certain configurations to the cluster. However, we prefer to manage all deployments through IAC for better auditability. If changes are made directly, it would be helpful to have a way to track and audit those modifications. We have experienced situations where users unintentionally deployed changes.

We had a problem of over provisioning of spark jobs. Scaleops right sizes those requests.

Plug and play tech. Even though we took some time to onboard ScaleOps onto our clusters, our major bottleneck was convincing people we need it.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

ScaleOps get's really big for bulky clusters and requires to be maintained. Prometheus failing and Dashboards not loading in particular.

Additionally, ScaleOps savings are misleading. I would also like to get an idea of how much money I have actually saved and.

The support model, in air gapped cases like ours isn't too great because it takes a lot of the engineer's time to debug ScaleOps.

The product does a lot of nuanced configuration improvements on Kubernetes; you can tell these guys live & breathe Kubernetes.  The sales support team is top-notch as well.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

Minimum core count seems to be in play during the sales process.  I have a feeling this product would be useful for a lot of smaller users.

**What problems is ScaleOps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ScaleOps is the brain behind our EKS cluster cost-optimization strategy.  In 1 alternative use-case, we are using ScaleOps with an on-premises RKE cluster to optimize the pod placement for workloads that are large batch jobs running in a finite fleet of on-premises worker nodes.

For many "standard" use cases, ScaleOps starts reducing cloud costs automatically and immediately  after installation, with 0 tinkering or configuration required.
Support for more complex and less "standard" use cases does require configuration and tinkering in order for the product to provide value. However, the documentation and support are quite good.

I find the UI to be non intuitive and difficult to navigate.

Solid UI that immediately provided some insights about our costs we could not figure out using other tools. Using this we got some very very quick TODOs that helped optimize things and project future cost with a lot more confidence.

**What do you dislike about ScaleOps?**

I think the UI by default was very exact about cost reductions but when you dig into them several there's sometimes hidden gotchas like OOMing states remaining high even with current memory overhead. I think this UI should have a few asterisks added or use the word "potential" in several places.
