"Highly Capable with a Steep Learning Curve"
What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I really value SAP Business Data Cloud for its highly valued functionality, allowing me to govern and contextualize data from SAP and non-SAP sources. It creates a trusted foundation, reducing data extraction costs, and offers seamless integration with SAP Data Studio. These features bring consistent data definition, stronger compliance, and security controls, enabling real-time data support and providing a better architecture. The trust in analytics and reporting is better, which helps avoid duplication and duplicate efforts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I would say there's a bit of complexity in its setup and architecture. Learning curve can sometimes be kind of a tedious process, considering that it has advanced modeling and requires deeper training. Obviously, the cost considerations take a lot of performance tuning. While documentation exists, it's the real-world use cases that can sometimes be improved. I would say it would accelerate decision making and reduce experimentation time. The initial setup was manageable, but not exactly like a plug and play. Certain things needed more effort like architecture planning, non-SAP integration, and the skill gap learning curve. The IT cost and complexity in its architecture for those aspects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

While SAP Business Data Cloud from SAP SE is very powerful, there are a few areas where it could be improved: 1. Initial Setup and Learning Curve - The platform can be complex for new users, especially those unfamiliar with the SAP ecosystem, which slows down onboarding. 2. Performance with Very Large or Complex Queries - Query performance can sometimes be slower for complex transformations or very large datasets. 3. Limited Flexibility Compared to Custom Data Platforms - It may be less flexible than fully custom-built data architectures for specific use cases. 4. Integration with Some Non-SAP Systems Can Require Extra Effort - Integrating certain third-party or legacy systems may need additional configuration. 5. Monitoring and Troubleshooting Could Be More User-Friendly - Debugging and identifying root causes is not always straightforward. 6. Cost Can Be a Consideration - Licensing and operational costs may be high for smaller teams or organizations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Unifies Data but Steep Learning Curve"
What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I like that SAP Business Data Cloud provides a single, trusted view of data across the company. It's really helpful that we no longer have to stitch together numbers from different systems and hope they reconcile, as the data is modeled, standardized, and governed in one place. The biggest difference for me is how much smoother the day-to-day work feels. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I find the complexity and learning curve of SAP Business Data Cloud quite a challenge. The platform is powerful, but the concepts like data products, semantic layers, and governance models aren't always intuitive for business users. The initial setup was fairly structured, but data modeling, harmonization, and governance design were especially challenging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I like the ability of SAP Business Data Cloud to create a single trusted data foundation across systems without heavy duplications. The seamless integration with SAP applications makes reporting faster, more reliable, and scalable. This helps teams move from reactive analysis to data-driven and insightful decisions. I appreciate its unified data modeling, built-in governance, semantic layers, real-time replication, and seamless integration with SAP ERP and analytics tools. These features ensure consistent metrics, accurate reporting, faster insights, and confident data-driven decisions across teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

The setup can be complex, especially for hybrid landscapes. Licensing clarity, cost transparency, and initial data modeling effort could be improved. Performance tuning sometimes requires specialized expertise, which can slow down smaller teams and adoption. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Data Federation with Minor UI Hiccups"
What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I like the data federation capability of SAP Business Data Cloud, which allows me to pull from S/4HANA without having to move terabytes of data. This feature significantly cuts the development cycle, almost by 40%. Another aspect I enjoy is not having to manually join VBRK and VBRP and debug TCURR tables; I can use the ready-made CDS views for this. Also, I appreciate integrating it with Snowflake, especially liking the zero copy sharing feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

The UI can get laggy sometimes, especially when the models get complex. Also, the initial setup was a bit painful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Enhancing Data Quality and Insights with SAP Business Data Cloud"
What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

SAP Business Data Cloud is its ability to provide high-quality, reliable, and up-to-date business data in one place. It makes it easy to enrich, validate, and standardize customer, supplier, and business partner information, which improves decision-making and reduces errors. I also appreciate how it integrates seamlessly with other SAP solutions, allowing data to flow smoothly across systems. The platform’s automated data management and insights help save time and effort, while ensuring compliance and consistency. Overall, it turns messy, fragmented data into a trusted, actionable resource that supports smarter business operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

SAP Business Data Cloud include its reliance on internet connectivity and subscription-based access, which can be limiting in certain environments. Initial setup and integration with existing systems can be complex, especially for organizations with diverse data sources. Additionally, while it provides high-quality data, customizing or enriching it for very specific business needs may require extra effort or external tools. The cost can also add up for extensive usage or large datasets. Overall, while powerful, it can feel somewhat rigid and resource-intensive for smaller teams or highly specialized workflows. "Powerful Data Unification with Learning Curve Challenges"
What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I like the unified data collation that combines both SAP and non-SAP data. I love how SAP Business Data Cloud connects and virtualizes data across cloud apps, data lakes, and Ariba, which makes handling and analyzing data much more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

As BDC introduces many layers and constructs, for new teams this creates a steep learning curve, thereby slowing down the onboarding. Also, BDC works best when SAP is the core system, which eventually calls for more modeling effort for external data. BDC introduces multiple architectural constructs - spaces, semantic model, data products etc. While each serves a purpose, understanding how they interact requires a mental model that is closer to enterprise SAP architecture than modern cloud data platforms. "Powerful Semantic Layer and Integration, But Naming and Licensing Need Clarity"
What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

Business-ready semantic layer, not just tables. I can model “Order,” “Customer,” and “Inventory” once and reuse those views across pipelines, dashboards, and test harnesses. It keeps test data aligned with how the business actually speaks about the domain.

Federation without heavy copies. Virtual access to SAP and non-SAP sources lets us validate end-to-end flows without shuffling giant CSVs around. That means fewer brittle “data sync” steps before a run.

Built-in path to analytics and AI. Since Analytics Cloud and AI features ride on the same layer, I can wire smoke checks that compare KPIs before/after a deploy and flag anomalies early. Databricks integration that feels native. When we need heavier ML or feature engineering, the Databricks tie-in shortens the hop from curated business data to notebooks/jobs. Good for performance test data generation too.

Clearer governance. Cataloging, lineage, and role-based access help us prove who saw what during testing, useful in audits and post-mortems Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

Naming churn = confusion. The shift from Datasphere to “Business Data Cloud” tripped up onboarding and documentation for a bit. Licensing and limits aren’t crystal clear. Budget planning gets tricky as features and SKUs evolve. Steep-ish learning curve. The semantic modeling and governance pieces are powerful, but new testers need time to get productive. "dependable data management"
What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

Everything is more organized because SAP Business Data Cloud makes it simple to consolidate data from various systems. I appreciate how the platform maintains data consistency across departments and updates information rapidly. Additionally, the interface aids in the clear visualization of important metrics, which facilitates comprehension of business operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

Because there are so many advanced options, some sections require some time to learn. Loading can be a little slow when dealing with very large datasets. Having more integrated tutorials for novice users would also be beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective data harmonization, but costly"
What do you like best about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I appreciate the methods or technologies of SAP Business Data Cloud for sharing data with third-party tools. This functionality is, in my opinion, very well implemented, although I must admit that it is extremely expensive. The solution for data harmonization and data unification while maintaining the semantic context of the data from SAP source systems is also very valuable. The ability to share SAP data with third-party systems like Microsoft also works well, which speaks for integration and flexibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAP Business Data Cloud?

I don't like that there is no free tier version of SAP Business Data Cloud, similar to SAP BTP. This makes the entry barriers for customers very high. The pricing model is extremely non-transparent and not really flexible compared to other solutions. It is unclear, and SAP cannot precisely say which or how many capacity units are needed for different types of problems or scenarios. Additionally, it is very tedious to establish a connection to the source systems, and there is no unified source of information; instead, one has to rely on many different places in the SAP ecosystem, which is very cumbersome if problems arise during setup.
