What is SailPoint, and what problem is it built to solve?

SailPoint provides identity governance solutions that help organizations manage who has access to which systems and data. It is built to address complex security and compliance requirements and help keep IT environments under control.

What languages does SailPoint support?

SailPoint supports 21 languages, including Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, English, and others.

What company sizes and industries is SailPoint the best fit for?

SailPoint’s strongest fit appears to be larger organizations, with positive users also represented across several industries. The clearest company-size concentration is among enterprise organizations.

How long does it take to implement SailPoint across a team?

Go-live most commonly takes 3–6 months, though implementation timelines vary. Teams also report both shorter and longer rollouts.

What customer support options does SailPoint provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

SailPoint provides 24/7 live-rep support, along with email/help desk, phone support, FAQs/forum, and a knowledge base. The support experience is mixed: users value knowledgeable staff and responsive customer success contacts, while others describe slow resolutions, difficult escalations, and reliance on paid professional services.

What is the experience like for teams switching to SailPoint from another tool?

Teams have moved to SailPoint from older or less capable identity and access tools, including Oracle, One Identity, and OpenText NetIQ products. The move has been driven by gaps in governance, access reviews, scalability, or modernization needs; SailPoint has provided stronger lifecycle automation, access certification, and visibility, though complex environments can still require a carefully managed transition.

What tools and platforms does SailPoint integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

SailPoint offers 52 integrations, spanning identity directories and cloud platforms, HR/HCM, service management, and healthcare systems.

What features or capabilities could make SailPoint even more useful?

SailPoint could be more approachable for administrators and end users, particularly when configuring complex environments. Users also point to several areas where improvements would make daily work smoother:
  • Make navigation, administration, and configuration more intuitive, with less reliance on specialized technical expertise.
  • Expand reporting flexibility and simplify the creation of custom reports and dashboards.
  • Add more options and filters to access certification campaigns and make review workflows easier to tailor.
  • Improve connector setup and troubleshooting with clearer logs, error messages, and documentation.

Is SailPoint considered safe and secure for handling data?

SailPoint is used to govern access through centralized visibility, lifecycle controls, access reviews, and policy enforcement. Users value these capabilities for helping identify excessive access and supporting compliance work, while also noting that security outcomes depend on effective configuration and ongoing governance.

4/5
What do you like best about SailPoint?

It is user friendly, easy to use and understand. Integrations are difficult but once understood they are done well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SailPoint?

Often times our team has to do out of the box features to accommodate certain identity and access management features we want to implement as the ones SailPoint provide don't quite fit the mark. I also think the AI provided by SailPoint could be better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Access Management with SailPoint"
5/5
What do you like best about SailPoint?

I find SailPoint incredibly helpful for role and access management, as it simplifies the process of requesting access for certain apps or roles. It’s very automatic; just a few clicks, and it gets everything done, which I appreciate as it saves me time. I really like the feature that allows me to request access for someone else, so if I know my team will need something, I can request it for all of them. The initial setup of SailPoint was really easy, with the majority of it handled by UT, but for our team, it was pretty simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SailPoint?

It’s a complete suite for handling all IAM duties, and it can scale beyond my expectations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SailPoint?

I’d like to see a better use of the expert hours included in our business plan, along with more services covered under that plan, rather than having to buy additional modules like password management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Automation of access by roles: more efficiency and less risks"
4.5/5
What do you like best about SailPoint?

The automation of access through role-based permission assignment and policies significantly reduces operational time and, above all, decreases the risks of unauthorized access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SailPoint?

When errors occur, the search for technical documentation is very limited, if not nonexistent. Additionally, they could improve the response times of their technical support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Massive Library of Pre-Built Connectors for Complex Legacy Environments"
4/5
What do you like best about SailPoint?

Its' massive library of pre-built connectors for complex legacy environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SailPoint?

The ongoing cost. The software license is steep, but the real expense comes from needing specialized developers on retainer just to rewrite custom scripts whenever an update breaks your integration workflows. On top of that, the administrative UI is a little clunky and feels like software built fifteen years ago Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SailPoint Delivers Scalable, Audit-Ready Identity Governance"
4.5/5
What do you like best about SailPoint?

We use SailPoint primarily for identity governance, and it has been very effective in giving us a clear, centralized view of who has access to what across our environment. Its strongest value for us is in access certifications, audit readiness, and policy-based controls, which are critical in a regulated enterprise.

SailPoint has also helped us automate joiner, mover, and leaver processes, reducing manual access management and limiting excess or orphaned access over time. The role- and policy-driven model supports our least-privilege goals and separation-of-duties requirements, and its integrations work well across hybrid and cloud systems.

This isn’t a lightweight IAM tool; it’s built for scale, governance, and long-term identity hygiene. For large organizations that need structured, auditable access control and sustained risk reduction, SailPoint has proven to be a solid, reliable platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SailPoint?

Our onboarding experience wasn’t the best. Our system integrator wrote custom code instead of using out-of-the-box functionality. In addition, the SI used AI to try to translate data from our homegrown IGA, and it wasn’t accurate in how it lined up the data. Then, once we were onboarded, we lost our sales rep. Shortly after that, the customer service team was turned into a pool of resources rather than dedicated support, so we weren’t given the customer support or guidance we needed. However, this has been resolved and now being supported appropriately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Identity Management with Powerful Automation"
5/5
What do you like best about SailPoint?

I use SailPoint as the Identity Management System for identity, governance, and administration at my enterprise level healthcare organization. I like that SailPoint allows us to set up access automation, reducing the time spent on provisioning and deprovisioning accounts. The ability to automate these processes is very valuable, saving many hours of work and ultimately money each week. I appreciate using Role Based Access Control, which ensures that people are given the least access required and can demonstrate this to auditors. I also love the flexibility to create automation and continually build, grow, and improve it, enabling our identity and access structure to scale with the organization. SailPoint is connected to various applications like Active Directory, Entra ID, Outlook, and Epic, and it assists with all of them. The vendor provided hands-on expert help during the implementation, which was essential given the complexity of the setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SailPoint?

SailPoint's built-in AI agent, the Harbor Pilot, is very basic and rudimentary compared to agents like Copilot. It seems to be a work in progress still. It could be improved to be more of an Identity Copilot, with visibility into the status of connected applications and identity states. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
