  ### 1. Easy-to-Use, Highly Customizable Time-Off Management That Keeps Getting Better

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

The tool is very easy to use. The dashboard is well designed, so each user can clearly see their upcoming time off, as well as the time off scheduled for other colleagues. The level of customization is very granular, so you can choose exactly what each individual sees.

I also really like the approval setup. The ability to set individual or multiple approvers—and even have different approvers for different time-off policies—is amazing. One of the best features is the Recipes, which is basically an IF THIS THEN THAT concept. You can create custom recipes that get triggered and perform tasks, such as sending automatic emails when a certain type of leave is requested.

The APIs are available as well. We were able to use the API to build a custom widget for internal purposes to show who is out of the office and when they are due to return. I’ve been using it for over 5 years, and it just keeps getting better. It started off as CAKEHR, but with the acquisition of SAGE, the improvements have been even better.

Pricing is very reasonable. Whenever we’ve needed help from customer support, it’s been easy to reach them through the hovering chat box in the bottom-right of the screen, and our issues were resolved in a timely manner.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

The mobile app is somewhat limiting in terms of the experience you get compared with the web version. On mobile, you can get the bare minimum done, like requesting or approving leave, but for anything beyond that you’ll need to use the web experience. The web version, on the other hand, has no performance flaws whatsoever.

**What problems is Sage HR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a lot of internal time-off policies, and some are unique to our company, so the ability to create custom policies that truly align with our needs is amazing.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

I like the standardization of templates in Sage HR. When creating multiple templates or files, like in Excel, you risk losing consistency, and the wording might differ from one to the next. On Sage HR, it's all consistent as you basically just fill in the fields you set up. The HR modules and extra ESS capabilities were key factors for switching from Sage VIP Premier. Although there was quite a learning curve with the initial setup and it required a lot of work upfront, it was worth it because the more you do initially, the less you have to do later when it really counts.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

It's more aimed at large organizations, and we're smaller and more flexible, so contracting and performance reviews happen simultaneously to account for changes in the job, where I know contracting is intended to be at the start of a review period, not the end. So for me it often means redoing templates when the review period begins because last year's template is not relevant anymore. But that's not the system's fault.

**What problems is Sage HR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using Sage HR to create a template once and easily apply it, ensuring consistency. It avoids the risks of losing consistency when using multiple templates in tools like Excel.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

I primarily use Sage HR for reimbursements, and it makes the entire process very smooth. I can easily upload my bills, submit claims, and track approvals directly in the app without any back-and-forth. The workflow is clear, approvals are quick, and everything stays organized in one place, which saves time and effort.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

One thing I dislike about Sage HR is that sometimes the app can feel a bit slow or clunky when uploading multiple documents at once. It can also be a little confusing to navigate certain menus at first until you get used to it. A few more customization options and smoother batch upload features would make the experience even better.

**What problems is Sage HR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sage HR helps streamline and simplify expense reimbursements by giving me a central place to upload bills, submit claims, and track approvals. Instead of managing paperwork, emails, or manual follow-ups, everything is organized in the app. This saves time, reduces errors, and makes the whole reimbursement process faster and more transparent.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

I like Sage HR because it has the same format as Sage Intacct and Sage Construction Management, which we also use. The format similarity is valuable, especially since both Sage Construction Management and Sage HR auto sync with Sage Intacct once changes are made, allowing our main financial platform to update automatically.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

I think it would be a nice improvement to have certain things be automatically done, such as email reminders. Or it would be a big improvement if it could be our payroll processor, but with prevailing wage jobs, that task is likely too robust. Not much support after the initial setup but it was not bad at all. I would love to have a contact that I could just reach out to with questions (and not be charged for).

Sage HR helps us stay organized by keeping confidential employee data in one system. It syncs with Sage Intacct and Sage Construction Management, making updates seamless and valuable.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

I appreciate the simplicity and ease of use, as well as the quick response from customer service. However, when it comes to resolving actual bugs that require attention from the development team, the process tends to be quite slow.

The implementation itself was straightforward, but I found that certain modules, such as Performance Review, are rather rigid. You have to adapt your processes to fit their structure in order to make them work effectively.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

The development process feels slow, and there are persistent bugs that make the experience frustrating, such as being repeatedly prompted for 2FA authentication codes even though the option to remember them for 30 days is selected. I have reported this problem for over a year now, yet it still hasn't been resolved.

**What problems is Sage HR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HR, performance and absence management all in one platform. Easy to use despite annoying bugs and slow development. The platform hasn't changed much in the last years.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

I think the performance management module in Sage HR stands out for me. It's incredible how you can integrate manage employees onboarding process to the point when they leave the company. That level of integration is something I really like and appreciate. It makes our life easy.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

Sometimes the integration didn't work well, and it was a struggle to decide which system to start with, like whether to start with the payroll system for onboarding purposes, or employee management. The order of integration was a little bit ambiguous. Additionally the deployment of the workstation for the new users wasn't easy and was not user-friendly. It was challenging to get self-help because sometimes you forget what you are supposed to be doing. So, it was a little bit ambiguous.

I use Sage HR for jo management, employee management,  leave management, performance management and payroll purposes with standout features in performance management and seamless integration from onboarding to offboarding.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

I really like Sage HR's user-friendly design. It makes managing HR tasks super simple. The holiday booking system is really handy, allowing me and my colleagues to request time off with just a few clicks. Also, being able to see my colleagues' availability helps with planning projects and meetings. Being able to see my colleagues is a nice touch too, adding a sense of community. Overall I would say Sage HR has been fantastic in streamlining our HR processes.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

Sage HR has plenty of useful features, though there are a few areas for improvement. The mobile app can sometimes be unresponsive and awkward to use rather than the desktop version. I would say that custom options for reports could be improved to better suit individual business needs. Also, the notification system could be more obvious and customizable to prevent missing updates.If these things were implemented I think this would improive the user experience of Sage HR.

The core of HR management is Sage HR. It reduces errors in routine tasks and streamlines HR procedures. It streamlines and increases openness in the workplace by automating leave requests. The platform minimizes legal risks by ensuring compliance with employment legislation. Structured employee appraisals are supported by performance management tools, which promote development and align with organizational objectives. All things considered, Sage HR streamlines HR management, encourages compliance, effectively handles leave, and fosters an employee-focused workplace.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

Everyone has access to their own records, can ensure everything is up to date, and can also find out who is on leave or not due to work. Our onboarding process is now automated. It's so easy to use, people don't need extensive training.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

The only real downside; as an administrator the notifications can get a bit much!

**What problems is Sage HR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to Sage HR, our annual leave was set using an Excel spreadsheet - which would often be completed by someone not au fait with formulae and regularly 'break' - and our HR records were all on paper in a filing cabinet. Since implementation, everyone has access to their own records, can ensure everything is up to date, and can also find out who is on leave without calling everyone through the organisation. Our internal communication is much improved, as is our onboarding process - now nothing is accidentally overlooked. It can be used without any training, and suits any and all FTEs.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

Cloud-based and easy to use. It's quite intuitive and easy to manage leaves, staff documents and expenses. It provides automatic notifications once an employee requests time off and posts an expense. Great customer support and we would like to thank Nikhil Arora for all his effort in explaining us the best we can achieve with Sage HR.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

We just started using the Project timesheets module, which is a must for us and there are some constraints related to the fact that it's manageble by week, instead of monthly. As we bill our clients on a monthly basis, our Financial department requires project timesheet reports considering the 1st day and last day of each month. We have double work preparing these, and its time consuming.

Since we have many staff working in different countries in the world, the absense management was made easy through Sage HR. Likewise, all the process of performance management became easier; through the OKRs and 360 Feedback we can easily keep track of our internal appraisals.

Sage HR was very easy to implement, it is integrated through our payroll. Sage HR is very user friendly. 

Sage HR has allowed our company to streamline processes and do away with spreadsheets, our employees have found it very easy to use and easy to navigate on both the web browser and the app.

no downsides to using Sage HR, couple of functions that are missing like GPS for the clocking in but that is currently a working progress

Keeping everything in one place and easy to use for all, managers, employees and data collection, we are a small organisation, but I can see the benefits are enormouse for large organisations, but even though we are small, its a great time saver for us too.

I haven't found a downside, if anything, we aren't using all the benefits, but, the support group give us advice, touch base regularly and help to utilise Sage to it's full potential for us, so no down side from Sage HR, it's more about us not engaging in its full potential

Easy access to all employee data, an routinely monitor all aspects, including leave, for AL or Sickness, one stop shop for all HR related needs and requirements, automated 1:1's and reminders for all

absence management is a lfie saver for us, running reports is easy and helps gather data quickly. It helps our employees engage with us a little more and has become an intergral part of our day to day running and helps us run efficiently. Implementing this changed the game for us in HR and it helps us support our team

we do not dislike anything really - only thing we would say is that we would like to be able to share more with managers without comprimising privacy of the staff

Managing annual leave and any kind of absence in a more efficient way, i can run reports to keep track of any red flags, i can run salary reports, turnover reports and i can manage and collate data for all managers easily. Engaging the employees with the portal has helped employees to manage their time and communicate with their managers better

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

Sage HR is very intuitive for both users and administrators, this has made adoption less of an issue for us. 
Basic functions that save time for managers include the time module that manages annual leave requests and tracks absences. 
The implementation has been simple, and the customer support is really good.
We also value the reporting, which is simple and easily customised.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

Just getting to grips with advanced permissions, but it would be good to have an easy way to give someone admin rights over a specific group of people (a team; or a location for example).
Some things are more difficult to personalise, such as the email that is sent to someone as an invite to a 1:1, it would be good to be able to personalise the message that is sent.
In implementation, it would be good to be able to put all information into one sheet, to avoid having to do separate uploads of remuneration, custom field data etc.

We are pulling all data into one location to give us better visibility across the board. 
Also managing annual leave with Sage is saving so much time, and will reduce abuse of the system as well.

**What do you like best about Sage HR?**

One of the most useful things is being able to send documents to staff and request acknowledgement from them when document is read.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

As admin I would prefer an easier way of viewing document sent per person rather than all documents in one view.

**What problems is Sage HR solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sage HR is helping to engauge with staff much easier in regards to keeping up with documents and policys that need to be read. 
It makes the requesting for time off much very easy, and easy to record.
Access to staff information is made quick and easy, emergentcy contacts can be found quickly.
Adding a file once for everyone to view/read saves hours and keeps a record of who is upto date and who is not.

We have just moved over to Sage HR for payslips & Annual leave. It has been so useful for making the HR process so much easier to tackle. It is easy to use

Don't like online chat help as it can take a long time to get the answer you need. Would prefer call support like Sage payroll

Centralised system for booking and recording holiday, accessing salary details, and employee data . Centralised performance management system creates consistency, enables employees to track both indvidiual performance and deparmtental contributions and creates clear and visable career progression paths. Also enables the business to focus measure levels of employee engagement through use of engagement and pulse surveys

The system has random limitations which can make implementation feel like whack a mole if you have specific workflows that you aren't interested in adjusting. There are also a lot of static features that we would rather not have.

It has to be the commitment from the customer service! Nothing is too much trouble, they'll jump on a teams call, repsond via email, check in on you.
Honesty aswell, if something isnt going to work for your company, they'll be honest and not just sell you a module. Kim was the last person I dealt with, couldn't of asked for anything more from her!

Not being able to chose an exact start day to your week - we operate differently mon/sun start day

The platform is a web application that allows companies to set up employees' personal pages to manage documentation, time permissions and holidays. It is easy to understand, modular and customizable. Cloud base so also efficient and scalable.

Even if it is customizable, some aspects cannot be customized and are standard. It is not possible at the moment to add two events on the same day and some work needs to be done to address international rules requirements for multinational companies.

Easy tool to allow employees to request time off, holidays, and sick-days. Also very useful for documentation sharing. Modular and customizable, functionalities can be added and views to manage access rights to functionalities.

It is customizable but the base remains common for all. There are some on-premise software that allows bigger customizability (even if for bigger costs). Moreover, if a company is distributed over many countries, it is not easy to adapt the software to each country's regulations. In a day, you cannot add more than one event (i.e. two hour-off permissions, one in the morning, one in the afternoon).

Easy way to allow time off request/approvals from employees, allow company documents upload/download, keep under control employee time management. Cloud-based, so it is scalable

Sage HR was utilized at my firm to organize, connect, and keep our personnel. Sage HR gives us real-time insight over our entire workforce (including remote employees) and helps us to knows what is happening on all times. Whether we needed to hire, plan shifts, handle timesheets, or conduct performance evaluations, Sage HR enabled us to do everything in a centralized spot without overcomplicating things.

Some drawbacks of the system include: upgrading data at a centralized spot that executes changes across the whole platform. Reports and histories can be customized. Monitoring and managing vacation arrangements

Sage HR is indeed a user-friendly platform for smaller businesses that helps to simplify HR activities everything under one cover and in a timely way. It is designed specifically to transform potential into an advantage for smaller and medium-sized organizations. I like how many possibilities there are for customizing stuff in the person department. Among which are KPIs and targets (and the ability to make them public), and also the ability to make meeting notes "private" for every participant.

Occasionally we need to go over a lot of steps to accomplish something simple. This can be tiresome and difficult to grasp at first, necessitating a relatively long adaption interval.

Organize and communicate with the staff the days accessible for holidays, operations, and so on. Working remotely allows us to have some freedom, which is very useful right now. I love the number of options to customize everything related to the HR department. Among these, the KPIs and objectives (and the possibility to make them transparent), as well as making "private" meeting minutes for each user (when coordinating feedback meetings).

Sometimes you have to follow many steps to do something minimal. It can be tedious and complicated to understand at first, so it requires a longer adaptation period than average (as well as a period of time to properly customize and use it to its full potential).

Coordinate and make transparent with the team the available days for vacations, procedures, etc. You can achieve a certain level of independence, especially now being remote. Likewise, the initiatives you can create that respond to objectives discussed in feedback meetings allow for transparency of each person's effort to improve.

How the program is set up and the helpfulness of call centre agents when calling through.
Online learning and being part of the Sage Comunity to research previously dealt with queries.

**What do you dislike about Sage HR?**

That I don't have access to excel reports and this has to be paid for separately.  

That there is no Module for the Building Industry Bargaining Council so every time I have questions I have to call the call centre and either have to get assistance from a consultant that is specialised in Bargaining Councils and pay for their time or have to spend up to an hour or more with a general call centre agent and have to explain how the original consultant created all the templates and lookup tables which is time-consuming and frustrating for me to explain this to my boss.
