How much does Nickel cost in 2026?

According to G2 data, Nickel pricing in 2026 starts at $35.00. Pricing may vary based on billing terms or usage, so users should review the Nickel's official pricing page for the most current details.

Who is Nickel pricing best suited for?

Nickel's pricing is best suited for small businesses, freelancers, and accounting firms, a pattern strongly reflected across G2 reviewer demographics where nearly all reviewers identify as small businesses with 50 or fewer employees. Industries including construction, accounting, legal services, nonprofits, real estate, and health and wellness appear most frequently in G2 reviews of Nickel. Nickel Core suits cost-conscious businesses primarily using ACH payments with moderate transaction sizes. Nickel Plus is better suited for growing businesses handling high-value transactions, needing recurring billing automation, or requiring faster fund access. G2 reviewers from mid-market companies also praise Nickel for its simplicity, reliability, and responsive support at a competitive price.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of Nickel?

Nickel Core is free and includes unlimited ACH transfers, a 2.9% flat credit card processing rate with fee pass-through, QuickBooks Online sync, payment links, a branded customer portal, and bill pay automation. G2 reviewers on the free tier note that transaction size limits, around $25,000 per transaction, and slower ACH settlement times are the primary friction points. Nickel Plus at $35.00/month removes hard transaction size limits, supports payments up to $1 million, delivers faster settlement, enables scheduled and recurring payments, pre-authorized debits, remote check deposit, and custom domains. G2 users specifically cite the transaction cap and settlement speed as the main drivers for upgrading to Nickel Plus.

Is Nickel considered good value for its pricing?

Nickel is widely regarded as exceptional value, earning a near-perfect average rating from G2 reviewers. The free Nickel Core tier alone delivers substantial savings, with G2 users frequently citing annual savings of hundreds to over a thousand dollars compared to QuickBooks, Stripe, Melio, and other processors. Reviewers across industries like accounting, construction, legal services, and nonprofits consistently highlight free ACH transfers and the ability to pass credit card fees to customers as transformative cost benefits. Nickel Plus at $35.00/month is viewed as worthwhile for businesses needing faster settlements and higher transaction limits. G2 reviews of Nickel indicate no meaningful complaints about pricing relative to the value delivered.

"Melio forced us to find an alternative - SO glad we landed with Nickel"

5/5

What do you like best about Nickel?

We were happy with our former payment portal, Melio, but they changed their pricing structure and instantly alienated us. After an extensive search, we settled on Nickel and couldn't be happier. Initially the platform wasn't an exact 1-to-1 replacement for Melio's functionality, but there are regular improvements and Ray is always excited to hear feedback on how Nickel can be improved. The core tier currently meets our needs, but the paid tiers offer some great advancements that we are considering utilizing in the future.

The UI is easy to understand and navigate. The integration with QuickBooks Online is easy to set up, quick, and seamless. You can tell they take great pride in their platform and forming it to satisfy the needs of their users. I am excited to see what improvements are coming in the future! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nickel?

We primarily use ACH payments and there is some variance between how long it takes to complete. The platform says 2-3 business days, but we have seen anywhere between 2-5 days. I assume this isn't 100% in control of Nickel as there are multiple institutions involved. But if we could reliably tell our vendors when they will see their deposits hit their accounts, it would save us some headaches. This isn't a problem unique to Nickel though as we have seen it with other payment platforms as well.

We break up some of our larger transactions into multiple payments because we are limited to $25k/transaction with our current tier. I would love to be able to submit this as a single transaction, and know we can do so at the higher tiers.

We were glad to hear about the recently implemented batch transactions; however, its implementation of still paying each invoice separately didn't work well for our process as we need a single payment to go to each vendor if multiple invoices are paid in the batch. We get around this by creating a new invoice with the total amount we want to pay and put the invoice numbers in the note so our vendor knows how to process the remittance. It would be great if Nickel supported this without us having to go thru the additional steps.

Nickel doesn't take into account any open credits on a vendors so without some double checking, it would be easy to overpay with that actual open balance is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nickel solving and how is that benefiting you?

Easily submit ACH payments to our vendors and 1099 contractors. Occasionally receiving payments from our customers. The Quickbooks Online integration is a must! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent Customer Service, Clear Pricing, and a Feature-Rich Free Tier"

4/5

What do you like best about Nickel?

I evaluated or tested Stripe, Melio, Helcim, GoCardless, Nickel, Forwardly, and DepositFix. I ended up going with Nickel and am satisfied for these reasons: excellent customer service, intuitive user interface, clear pricing, transaction times well communicated and delivered on, and lots of features under the free tier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nickel?

I wish that they had a mid tier--I am a small business and needed recurring incoming payments, which requires upgrading to their paid tier ($45/mo or$420/year). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nickel solving and how is that benefiting you?

Slow payments (as I experienced with Stripe), unanticipated fees (as I experienced with Stripe), lots of failed transactions (as I experienced with Stripe), lots of effort (as I experienced with Stripe). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
