Navan works best for expense management because it includes policy management and auto-approval workflows. The policy setup is very versatile, with multiple configuration options and different approval mechanisms.

Navan Travel is also strong, with plenty of booking options and rule-based approval controls. Hotel bookings are especially easy in Navan, since you can book based on the location where the event is being held.

Navan also stands out for its card program: employees can be issued a Navan card to use during trips.

Navan UI is very user friendly and its OCR mechanism helps with creating expense claims automatically.

The Navan application needs further development to better suit India-specific requirements, such as broader coverage of travel destinations within India, card programs that support INR, and an automated expense reimbursement process so employees in India can be paid back automatically. I don’t have any major dislikes about Navan. From what I’ve seen, it’s solving real problems for businesses through technology. Like any growing company, there may be challenges in adapting to changes and managing customer expectations, but I see these as opportunities to improve and learn. I use Navan both as the admin and as a frequent traveler, so I get the view from both sides. The policy engine is what really changed how we operate: policy gets enforced at the moment of booking instead of being debated after the fact. As a result, most trips effectively self-approve, and I only have to step in for genuine exceptions. Booking is quick, and the inventory has been solid enough that people have stopped bypassing the system to book directly, which was my biggest concern going in. On the expense side, receipt capture and auto-categorization have eliminated most of the end-of-month follow-ups and chasing. The accounting integration is still the part that costs me time. Getting Navan data into our ERP cleanly requires more mapping and manual cleanup than it should, and the export layer feels less mature than the booking and expense products that sit in front of it. If your finance stack isn’t one of the mainstream US systems, plan for real implementation time here, and don’t assume GL coding will flow end to end without someone reviewing it at each close. Navan Events makes group travel for offsites much easier to manage. I can set the event dates, flight and hotel rules, and arrival alerts, then send everyone one booking link – this is a new feature that's been helpful to our team. When a program has different groups, like leadership arriving early, I can give each group its own instructions. Because bookings are tied to the event, Finance and my team see accurate costs in real time instead of a pile of expenses after the event. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The expense side is the hardest part for our event team. Event-type tagging confuses people. Attendees often pick the first option on the list, and fixing mistakes later means correcting transactions one by one. Local attendees who didn’t book travel through Navan can’t submit trip-related expenses, so their expenses are hard to tie to the event. There’s also no way to see what someone’s standard flights would have cost, which makes it hard to review requests for more expensive bookings.

I'd also like to see a feature where you can disable changing flights – once booked, if an attendee wants to change their booking they can do so without Navan flagging something that is out of policy for cost, etc.

I like using Navan to book hotels and flights because it offers excellent connectivity and plenty of flight and hotel options, better than Expedia and Booking. I enjoy the synchronization with Netsuite, as it makes expense reporting easier and the automatic logging is quite convenient. Refunds are quick and that's a big plus for me. Sometimes I notice the synchronization with Netsuite is a bit slow, I'm not sure if it's the internet or if there are too many transactions. Generally, I like to sync the expenses at the end of the day, but if it's too slow, I leave it for the next day. It's not much of an inconvenience, it's just that it doesn't say why it takes so long. We like Navan because we can control and monitor what our staff and boards book for travel. It saves each person from having to use their own credit card, which would require us to do a whole reimbursement process, and they have to wait at least ten days to receive a reimbursement. We are able to download the expenses in a spreadsheet which helps us with financial processes. We have received good support when we've needed it. From an admin POV, I like that it gives us better control over what employees book for corporate travel, while avoiding the usual back-and-forth we used to have when booking on their behalf. Now each employee can choose their own trip proposals and send them for approval, with a wide range of options and clear pricing so they can find the most cost-effective choice while still staying within our policy (which we were able to set up beforehand). I believe it's pretty user friendly compared to other apps and we can find cheaper alternatives than booking with other apps. Additionally, we can reach out to Navan Support when needed, which have a fast response rate and also take care of calling hotels/airlines for us when needing to solve an issue. Although it is pretty user friendly, some employees have missed some important information because they couldn't find it in the page they were at (for example, the fact that they need to input their corporate credit card before submitting a proposal so they can have it handy when attempting to book after approval). I also would like to have better customization of the necessary fields they need to complete upon submitting a proposal (for example, we need them to provide a job code from the start, and that should be an obligatory field). I would also like to be able to filter the proposal and booking approvals report and see which ones have been already booked without needing to click each one. It would also be helpful to be able to toggle on and off options accoss regions (for example, we don't allow US travelers to book basic economy, but we do allow EMEA users to go it, but we can't toggle it off for the US without taking it off EMEA). flights don't always show when they are available directly on airline site, customer service SUCKS! Many people in our organization call to receive help with trip changes or canceled flights rebooking and are told "There is nothing we can do about it" and our employees have to figure it out on their own. We went through implementation with more questions than answered and just told "sorry, that is just how the platform works" when told during the sales process that a function was available and it is clearly NOT! Paying $30 a trip in fees to not have any benefit from the platform. Our discount codes that we have as a company STILL have not been uploaded to their site for us to use and we have been using them for 7 months! Paying more for hotels than we should! When brought up, acted like it was OUR fault for not following up with them to get them added. How were we supposed to know that there was an issue if they didn't inform us. Our project manager canceled meetings regularly and didn't answer our questions when we emailed. When asked to explain where the "trip savings" came from they did not have an answer ... just expected to believe the dollar amount. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best part of Navan is having all of our staff members who are able to use the same portal and login. We don't use any of the AI features or integrations, but I'm sure they are helpful. The UI is decent, but can be a little clunky sometimes if I'm being honest. It can be hard to find the details you really need at a glance without clicking through a bunch of things. Fortunately, the support staff have always been helpful as we try to navigate issues and thing are typically resolved fairly quickly. It can be incredibly difficult to find a receipt for certain hotels or airfare through Navan. And if there are any incidental expenses, those don't show up in Navan so you have to call the hotel/rental car company to get the invoice/receipt for them Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like best about Navan is how easy it makes managing team travel and expenses in one place. Booking travel is straightforward and efficient, which saves time when coordinating trips for multiple team members. I appreciate being able to quickly compare travel options and find choices that balance cost, convenience, and our team’s needs.

The integrations with other platforms we use, along with the ability to connect our credit cards, make the experience even more convenient. Having those connections helps keep travel bookings, transactions, and expenses organized and reduces the amount of manual work involved in keeping everything aligned.

Expense processing is another major benefit. It makes managing expenses easier for both the employees submitting them and the people reviewing them. That convenience is especially valuable when multiple team members are traveling and we need to keep up with spending.

The two areas where I would most like to see improvement are cost and customer support. Costs have continued to increase, and while I recognize that this is happening across many services, it does affect the overall value.

We also would have appreciated more ongoing support and guidance. I joined after Navan had already been adopted, so I wasn’t part of the initial implementation and had to learn the platform on my own. Having access to structured training for new administrators, proactive check-ins, and a consistent point of contact would have made that transition much easier.

We haven’t had a reliable contact who knows our account and can help us navigate questions or get more out of the platform. For us, more accessible, personalized support would make a meaningful difference in the overall experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
