While working late on preparing our taxes, we experienced an issue that needed resolved immediately. When we first started using MIE Trak Pro over 6 years ago, job costing wasn't available. We had to create work-a-rounds to calculate costs associated to each job. Even though job costing is now available, we have not started using it. We are still uncertain how it will work for us since we do not use the Work Orders module. To be totally honest I don't have a ton of experience with Mie Trak software but I had maybe the best experience I've had working with an enterprise software vendor whilst doing a migration from an old Server 2008 R2 box to a shiny new Dell R540 with Server 2019 and SQL 2019 on it. Evan was not only knowledgeable and efficient (he totally migrated everything in a record-setting amount of time,) he is also just a really pleasant guy.
I own and operate a small IT contracting company so we deal with a ton of software vendors on a regular basis. Lots of these companies have really craptastic products and even worse support. Here's what I find compelling about Mie Trak from an IT contractor's viewpoint:
Easy server install
Uses SQL which is reliable and relatively smooth with very few issues (though some of MS' data import processes could be improved)
Does not require DLLs to be separately installed which means you can run this program directly from the server (no workstation install required)
Friendly and effective US-based customer support that picks up the phone when you call them
One of my bigger clients uses these guys though I don't do anything directly inside of the program and therefore am not qualified to speak about it's ease of use or inner workings. The thing I like least about MIE Trak is also one of the things I like best. They are always working to improve their product. On a few occasions they have released a build that has a few issues. The quoting feature is awesome. It can break down a complicated assembly into bite size pieces and show your estimated cost of time and materials for every child part and roll it up into one large assembly. You can easily see your costs in different batch qty levels which MieTrak does all the match for you and divides up all the set up times and material discounts for you. One click of a button and it converts that quote to a sales order and creates all the work orders. Wish it had a place within the employee files to add vacation usage with out running a report like the old er version. It would be nice if it integrated with some of the GPS time keeping software that our road installers use so we could download their times directly in to Mietrak. I dislike how on the work order costing tab, the system displays a cycle time for actual hours instead of man hours. For example if it a group of 4 employees 8 hours to complete 1 part, the actual hours will read 8 hours instead of 32 man hours. This is an issue when we are trying to estimate costs.
I dislike how the substitute material feature works. We are using back flushing, so when we are using a different material than state on the routers bill of material, we have to manually issue the substitute material then manually put back the original material. This is cumbersome.
I dislike the MIE Trak update process. I would like MIE Trak to be more proactive and notify us when a new update is available. Currently the only time we know that an update is required is when we open up a ticket and the support tram notices that we are not on the latest update.
I dislike how we can't back date inventory adjustments. It is unfeasible for us to count all of our inventory and make all of the adjustments that same day. I fell other companies would have this same issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Seems to be a lot of programming flaws and issues for this software being out so long. Functionality that should work but doesn't work properly. Column titles / Headers that aren't the same across the board. One screen calls
PO screen shows columns for Quantity, Total weight, Price, and Extended price but those exact options don't carry over to the PO receiver screen. This would be helpful to match to the PO when receiving. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of the best features of MIE is the visibility of all items, orders and production employees. As long as you follow the process, you can find just about anything you are looking for. With the scheduling feature and being able to use the White Board module, so we are in control of what is going through our shop.

Honestly, I hate to say it, but most of the time its the customer service, most of my experience with customer service has been lack luster at best, there are a few exceptions (Chad and recently Jerrell have been individuals that work at getting to the bottom of the problem and handle customer service with excellence and not just sugar coating the problem with a shiny new feature that MIE will be releasing on the next build). It has a logical workflow from Quotation to delivery, it allows me to track an order to completion, including BOM, Purchase Orders, Works Instructions, QC, Pick Lists, Delivery Notes, Invoicing and loads more.
