Implementation was a mess and support was nonexistent **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2024 **What do you like best about MIE Trak Pro?** Cloud access and log in is great, it seems to have a lot of things it can do. **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** The implementation team and support were unbelievably unknowlegeable. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** MieTrak was supposed to provide an all in one solution for accounting and operations so that that my client could get away from spreadsheets to track WIP and inventory. My client spent a almost one hundred thousand dollars paying for implementation, operating, support and accounting fees and never got a system up and going. Support did not know how to finish the implementation, and charged the client additional support fees for calling with questions and requests. Kick off date kept getting delayed but when it was finally made the account of record, there were so many holes in the accounting that the client hired us to help and we found out on a call with the owner that the prior year had not been imported properly, and had not been closed out by the implementation team. Then he asked us to send him trial balances so that he could try to fix the issue with the balances that changed, and the other issues we brought up such as reconcilation issues, issues with prepayments on invoices, and many other operational issues. We agreed that he would meet with us the following week, after he had a chance to review and fix the issues we addressed, but he showed up late to the meeting, and did nothing to review or correct the issues we presented in the prior meeting. My client was extremely patient and accomodating, but MieTrak did nothing to help the software become operational. I did not recommend this software to my client and will never recommend this software to any client in the future. It was literally a disaster. ### 2. DevExpress Reporting and Dashboards comes free with MieTrak. **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** Need ability to create custom drop down fields and buttons **Recommendations to others considering MIE Trak Pro:** Hire or dedicate someone for 6-12 months to help get things setup. Make sure you have a firm understanding on the variables and formulas you will use to quote along with having your burdened machined and employee rates in order. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were able to greatly improve out customer and vendor On Time Delivery through building shared dashboards showing critical data and KPIs to everyone in the company. We have starting using monitors on the factory floor for each department to help with scheduling. From an HR perspective the ERP system dows not work for the HR space , from an operational standpoint , my operations and production teams enjoy the ease of use and can easily train employees on how to use the system. **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** We tried to use Mie trak in the time and attendance space,they could not build out the software to provide some much-needed restrictions on 30-minute lunch periods which was allowing people to clock in before their lunch period was up. All other time and attendance modules can block an hourly employee from clocking in before their 30-minute lunch time is up. This helps to avoid meal premiums. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** Currently, our GM is working on job cost accounting, mie trak is working closely with the GM to get this working correctly and ensuring we are receiving the data we need to succeed. ### 7. The initial set-up was done excluding certain modules and as we have grown they have been outstanding at helping us bring the other modules online. They even sent people here to help us work through an inventory issue we were having. That's outstanding service!! **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** Our initial set-up was not done with the correct resource groups involved. Some of the things we needed should have been done at start up but as stated above they have been very supportive. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** Time is our biggest issue being resolved. I would like it to mirror the layout of the Sales Order module. He developed our accounting add-on for Mie Track. He is a very busy man; however, I know when there is an issue with our accounting system, he is the one to call, and he ALWAYS responds, and if needed, hops on TeamViewer to fix or modify anything we need. When purchased, they set up the modules to what you are doing and how you need them. Their support is always very helpful and knowledgeable. **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** The issue was converting QuickBooks into MIeTrak, it was doable, but the risk of losing data/ and being fully integrated held us back. Very versatile with their accommodations and open to suggestions. **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** Major updates seems to cause inconvienent hiccups, but their tech team is pretty good about resolving them. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are tracking discrepancies on actual time vs. our estimated time and finding where our company needs to adjust time and pricing, which gives us the ability to pass the savings on to the customer if it's available. **Official Response from Scott Pierson:** > Thank you for your kind comments and for being one of our amazing customers. While working late on preparing our taxes, we experienced an issue that needed resolved immediately. Even though it was after hours for customer support, we were able to reach them and resolve the issue in time! **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** When we first started using MIE Trak Pro over 6 years ago, job costing wasn't available. We had to create work-a-rounds to calculate costs associated to each job. Even though job costing is now available, we have not started using it. We are still uncertain how it will work for us since we do not use the Work Orders module. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** MIE Trak Pro does what we need it to do and so much more. We researched other programs because of job costing and determined that MIE Trak Pro is still the best option for our company. We found that the customer service of some of the other options was lacking, even in the sales phase when customer service is usually the highest. To date, I've never had a problem that MIE Trak hasn't fixed promptly. They also listen to your feature requests and work to get them implemented. ### 18. Evan was not only knowledgeable and efficient (he totally migrated everything in a record-setting amount of time,) he is also just a really pleasant guy. I own and operate a small IT contracting company so we deal with a ton of software vendors on a regular basis. Lots of these companies have really craptastic products and even worse support. Here's what I find compelling about Mie Trak from an IT contractor's viewpoint: Easy server install Uses SQL which is reliable and relatively smooth with very few issues (though some of MS' data import processes could be improved) Does not require DLLs to be separately installed which means you can run this program directly from the server (no workstation install required) Friendly and effective US-based customer support that picks up the phone when you call them One of my bigger clients uses these guys though I don't do anything directly inside of the program and therefore am not qualified to speak about it's ease of use or inner workings. That being said, hopefully it is as user friendly as the install/migration process! **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** I have absolutely no complaints about the product and their support is so good (one more big shoutout to Evan here!) that I suspect not many people have bad things to say about this company. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** As an IT contactor the only problem I had to solve was how to move it to a new server. The benefits are what you would expect from a new server, ie faster and more reliable. ### 19. The appearance and layout could be cleaner and more eye friendly, but the software is good and like I said, they take what you want and implement those ideas for you. **Recommendations to others considering MIE Trak Pro:** Its hard to find good customer service and places that take what you request and help implement them to better run your business. It can break down a complicated assembly into bite size pieces and show your estimated cost of time and materials for every child part and roll it up into one large assembly. You can easily see your costs in different batch qty levels which MieTrak does all the match for you and divides up all the set up times and material discounts for you. One click of a button and it converts that quote to a sales order and creates all the work orders. I also like being able to drill down from an invoice all the way back to the work orders and see who made that batch at each operation. **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** Our accounting staff didn't like the accounting feature however this this software integrates with quick books which they love and everyone is happy. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** This software helped us really know our true cost on everything we do. I like how the MIE Trak support team is quick to assist us with our tickets. I also, like how simple it is to run inventory reports. **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** I dislike how on the work order costing tab, the system displays a cycle time for actual hours instead of man hours. For example if it a group of 4 employees 8 hours to complete 1 part, the actual hours will read 8 hours instead of 32 man hours. This is an issue when we are trying to estimate costs. I dislike how the substitute material feature works. We are using back flushing, so when we are using a different material than state on the routers bill of material, we have to manually issue the substitute material then manually put back the original material. This is cumbersome. I dislike the MIE Trak update process. I would like MIE Trak to be more proactive and notify us when a new update is available. Currently the only time we know that an update is required is when we open up a ticket and the support tram notices that we are not on the latest update. I dislike how we can't back date inventory adjustments. It is unfeasible for us to count all of our inventory and make all of the adjustments that same day. Regarding the cycle time hours as opposed to man hours in the WO costing tab: We are pleased to say that we actually have this as a new feature (group clock ins) and we currently have developments in place for future builds to add this functionality in. Previously there was no such thing as group clock in and people had to clock in individually. If desired they can still use that route. The feature for substituting material, if done ahead of time to what you will be using does not require removing and adding (the system would not know what to issue otherwise). In this instance with the router, you said you were using 'x' material and you are having the system automatically issue for you, but you actually want it to issue 'y'. We would be open to pursuing it if you have a method of addressing this. Please feel free to contact our support team and we would be happy to assist. The MIE Trak Pro update process includes providing notifications whenever there are new builds. Please contact us if you are not receiving notification. Those are done now every 6 weeks. As well, we do daily builds to address fixes. We recommend our customers stay on a release build, however if customers need new features, they often times will run beta builds to get those features. On beta builds, there are fixes potentially daily, which are usually applied via an update from the support system. If you wish to move to a more standardized update path I would recommend staying with the releases as those will update in 6-week increments. Back dating inventory can be accomplished via scripting; however, it is not recommended as this impacts the inventory valuation reporting. Inventory worksheets can be backdated if they aren't completed on time. Most companies will do a combination of spot checking (using cycle counting) high risk items to keep them up to date, then they will perform one or two annual full inventories. Plus a wealth of reporting capabilities. **What do you dislike about MIE Trak Pro?** As with most different solutions, converting from an outdated homegrown solution to a cutting edge solution comes with its learning curve. Mostly, it's more of a resistance than a real learning. Once it's embraced the learning comes quickly. **Recommendations to others considering MIE Trak Pro:** Get a demo and ask a lot of questions to see how MIE Trak Pro will meet your needs. **What problems is MIE Trak Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** We gaining more realtime reporting and better profitability insights so far. **Official Response from Devi Acharyya:** > Hello valued MIE Trak Pro user!
