I also appreciate sharepoint's versioning and lifecycle management. Having built in version history helps to ensure that everyone is working on the latest approved content while still keepinga record of past changes. It is really important for documentation that goes through reviews and approvals.

It is designed for shared ownership, not individual files like one drive. It makes the well suited for long term documentation such as user guides, policies, release features, and project deliverables that need multiple contributors.
