# What Is the Top Help Desk Software for IT Teams?

Highest rated Help Desk solutions for IT teams managing a large device fleet efficiently sits closer to service desk and IT service management tools than G2's customer-facing Help Desk category. The three below are the ones in this category whose reviews actually speak to internal IT work rather than customer support.

Freshservice: IT teams consistently point to the self-service portal, asset tracking, and automated workflows as what turns scattered email requests into an organized queue. The tradeoff most often mentioned is reporting that feels rigid for anyone wanting deeper, custom-built views, plus occasional surprise costs on premium add-ons.

Atera: Built specifically around monitoring and managing device fleets, reviewers describe it keeping ticketing, patching, and remote support tied to the same device context across Windows, macOS, and Linux. The catch is that file transfers during remote sessions can feel clunky, and per-technician pricing means reporting depth varies by plan.

SysAid: Reviewers highlight built-in IT asset management tied directly to the ticketing system, along with automation that handles onboarding and offboarding rules. The most common complaint is that building advanced, custom reports is difficult without exporting to something like Power BI.

And has anyone actually reduced on-site visits by switching tools, or did the volume just move somewhere else?

For IT teams, the biggest operational gain usually comes when ticketing is tied directly to asset and remote-management context. I’d compare how quickly technicians can move from an alert or ticket to the affected device, take remote action, and close the issue without switching systems or dispatching someone on-site.
