I’m also a big fan of having the option to manage and host it ourselves on-premises, while still being able to rely on their support team when we need help. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** I wouldn’t call it a dislike, but the system can be a beast to manage, which is to be expected from a platform that can truly run your entire campus, from prospects to alumni and from tutors to presidents. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of the biggest problems I believe Jenzabar is making real progress in solving is fragmented processes. Through their automated, adjustable workflows, we’ve been able to streamline and better align processes across departments. ### 2. Before implementing Jenzabar One we had several different systems in place that did not communicate, and it was not an easy flow. It is user friendly, and the financial portion of the program is easy to use. I like the fact that you can upload invoices into the Invoice Creations page so you can go paperless. I highly recommend Jenzabar One. The implementations were easy and the Jenzabar implementors were great to work with. They made sure everything was correct and in order before we went live. The customer support is very attentive and have quick response. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** I use several sections of Jenzabar One but mostly the Accounts Payable section. The only thing I do not like about it is when you have to void check for any reason, when you void the check, the invoice gets deleted as well. So, if you have a customer whose check is lost and you have to void it, you cannot just void the check and reissue the payment for the invoice. You have to re-enter the invoice then reissue the check. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problem it solved is it connecting/talking to the different departments over all of our campus. ### 3. I’ve had the chance to explore it, and overall, it’s user-friendly, well-organized, and offers a mix of different materials to help you learn at your own pace. I really enjoy earning badges and points for all my completed courses. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** I know Jenzabar is working on adding a feature that will upload spreadsheets to the Registrar Courses module. This will be a game changer for our office. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jenzabar One helps our registrar office streamline our operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall student experience. It's nice to have one product that can handle most of our day-to-day activities. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** There are still some pieces in the payroll and human resources modules that need udpated. We use another software to supplement what J1 does not provide, such as a time clock and customizable reports for state specific tax issues. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** J1 allows us to craft department specific reports on the backend to speed up our processing in small departments. Instead of hiring more staff, we can leverage the data and reports to provide the analysis we need to make our next move in student engagement, faculty needs as well as staff processes. ### 7. I absolutely love the academic plans and how students can move curriculum from one semester to another. I thought that I wasn't going to like it because I have been on the desktop version for so long, but I would rather use this version. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** Helping students understand their academic plans more. ### 8. The system is customizable to satisfy unique needs of an institution. It integrates with a variety of outside systems making it easy to offer faculty and staff solutions that work with the system. It can be used for small or large sized institutions and changed as needed. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** The most challenging things about the system is that many of the canned reports need customized in order to use efficiently. Customizations can be difficult and time consuming to get completed. Support is difficult to secure timely. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** The best thing being solved is that information is shared with everyone so that anyone can access whatever they need (with the appropriate permissions). ### 9. We moved to J1 back in 2022 and are now using J1 Web and we love it. We also use JRM and have seen enrollment go up by about 15%. We are using J1 JICS and JICS Mobile Web, but are moving to the JICS Mobile app to get virtual ID cards. J1 Desktop is good, but J1 Web is even better and use it with DUO MFA and it is secure on and off campus. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** The cost of Maintenance is high, but worth every penny! When we went to J1 it changed and maintenance on our J1 products is more reasonable now. We have access to everything just by paying the mainteance on the new product area like chatbot or retention. **Recommendations to others considering Jenzabar One:** Just get it you will love it! **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are making changes with our student forms with formflow and workflow. We are implementing JRM and think it will help with admissions. UPDATE: Almost all forms (paper & pdf) are now Forms in Formflow and most have attached Workflows. We implemented JRM and it has helped with enrollment, enrollment is up 15%. We are moving to J1 Web and setting up Jenzabar Retention to use and J1 JCIS Mobile app in the near future. We hope that Retention will help with Graduation rates and retention and the J1 JICS Mobile app will help us with Virtual Student/Staff ID's for touchless entry/access to many current and future plans we have. Overall Jenzabar One has been great for us. ### 10. They've gone from an old looking platform to one that is web based. This has allowed them to rethink the processes and make a much better platform. The implemetation was thoughtfull and well planned. They had a great project team that helped them come in on time and in budget which the support team continued to help us whenever we ran into issues. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** Integration used to be very custom and difficult, but with their new iPaaS, it has become much better, if not a bit complicated. There is also a very steep learning curve for new users. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jenzabar One has become the central hub for all of our departments. It replaced the disparate systems that had complicated integration with one that works together and in harmony. ### 13. I am on the enrollment side of the university, so I enjoy being able to use the program as an SIS easily. I can easily print reports based on specific criteria, view and download student transcripts, and view and process registration. We also use Jenzabar for generating and approving purchase orders, and the process for doing so is straightforward. I can also download student reports based on specific admissions counselors, take notes in a student's account, and access shared reports from other departments, such as financial aid. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** Honestly, I rely on Jenzabar for all of my work, and recently, it has been crashing and freezing frequently. I know that our IT department has been working with the company to fix these issues, but it seems as though it's becoming more frequent. Also, I'm not too fond of the format of the newest update. It is hard to find specific fields now, and where they are located doesn't make much sense. It seems too cluttered, and before, it was much more user-friendly. **Recommendations to others considering Jenzabar One:** The program is easy to use, and I would recommend it. However, I would be cautious of the technical difficulties. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jenzabar allows higher ed professionals to easily keep track of students--from admissions, registration, financial aid, payments, and alumni relations. I have created reports of current students, past students, and those who have stopped out. These reports include contact and degree information. I can then use those reports to reach out to students, upload that information in our e-mail software, or upload to Blackboard Connect and easily reach out to them. There are many more benefits that I don't personally use, which shows how versatile it is. ### 16. They try to incorporate all of the feedback they receive into product development. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** It is hard to work through helpdesk ticket issues via email. It would be beneficial to hop on a Teams call and display the issue and work through it quickly in some circumstances. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are continually trying to evolve our processes as they grow. The consultants are irreplaceable in helping us work through growing pains and assisting us in reaching our goals. ### 17. Especially around payment plans, student housing, and events management, we have seen giant time savings. ### 18. This also helps the registrar's office. We no longer have to stop to respond to specific student academic history requests. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** J One has worked well. The only downside is finding the time to train all of our faculty and advisors on using it. With teaching schedules as they are, it is a challenge for sure. In the previous advising module, faculty could sort the registered advisees and the un-registered advisees. We are not able to do that in J One. If this is possible, I would love to know how to accomplish this. It would be helpful also to sort or see a snapshot of students that have holds on their accounts, as this prevents registration. **Recommendations to others considering Jenzabar One:** I have worked with various versions of Jenzabar since 1998. I think it is a great product and has more functionalities than we are using. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** The registrar's office is responsible for sending out countless reports throughout every trimester to faculty, academic leaders, and student advisors. The stakeholders are now able to pull up a student's academic record without requesting information. ### 19. They all are invested in the product, and in the outcomes for the institution and students. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** Sometimes there is a feature disconnect that impacts our customized areas in a highly negative manner. We usually only find out about those after the updates are released, which sometimes can be problematic to meeting implementation deadliens. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jenzabar One has allowed us to spread out the use and support of the product with a small IT staff, and varying degree of technical aptitude throughout the different departments. We have been able to keep up with updates and changes in a more complete manner than without the Jenzabar SaaS solution, and it allows the individual departments more features in a more timely manner. ### 20. It does take quite a bit of time to know where everything is and what kind of reports you can pull with it but once you learn it’s amazing! **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** I work in Undergraduate admissions and it helps by keeping track of students and their profiles such as Applications, items they submit, completing their file and just holding all of the information about that one student in one place. ### 29. The J1 web advising is also a great for advisers who need access to additional student information. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** The inability to launch a J1 Web module due to known issues that impede the end user. We want the product to be working correctly so that our end users have a great experience from the start. There are challenges when launching some modules because of bugs that need fixing. This can postpone the launch of new modules or features. **Recommendations to others considering Jenzabar One:** Jenzabar One is a powerful Student Information System with capabilities to enhance student success while meeting institutional requirements.The mobile and web platforms are great enhancements for students. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** Advisers having additional access to student information and default planning. The modern cloud hosted of Jenzabar One platform will bring our current SIS environment into the future. The user interface, integrated student communications management features,analytic modules and responsive design presents an excellent organizational platform to meet the needs of an institution. The Cloud hosted SaaS model will help reduce our in-house server costs as well as ensuring up time of our platform. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** Jenzabar One cloud migration remains underdevelopment so for the next 18-24 months a blended environment of cloud SAAS and EX platform will need to be used to realize all features of the new environment. Each system didn't properly or fully communicate with each other in the manner that was most helpful to employees, and information was getting lost. This system has gotten us on track, and although we still need to learn some features, we're better equipped now than we were before. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** The transition to Jenzabar has been really bumpy, and I've heard this from other campuses as well. One person said that it took them three years to be fully operational. People are resistant to change, and we also had to experience *all* the bugs so we could locate and fix them. The onboarding was also an extremely arduous and lengthy process. **Recommendations to others considering Jenzabar One:** Everyone needs to be fully prepared for the change and willing to learn. Every department can have its own module and access rules can be modified to prevent tampering. The DMS has some impressive features such as ability to schedule communications with students or alumni, catalog management, even workflows. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** Very outdated and clunky look. Jenzabar One would be difficult to learn for someone new. Its interface is far from user friendly. Any reporting has to be done separately through Infomaker and will require additional training. **Recommendations to others considering Jenzabar One:** The product seems to look outdated but it is ultimately heading in the right direction. Jenzabar One is about to move to the cloud so that's exciting. Once you understand what EX "does" as a program and the functions executed by different portals, it become a fairly logical program to use. It also allows you to look up different areas of needed information all within the same program, which helps when you are aiding students or faculty on the phone or need to find quick answers to questions. **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** The user interface is incredibly cumbersome to the point of being useless. It is not obvious how to find the functionality portals that you need because they are buried in a list, and once you've found the functionality you need, there are hidden "quirks" of the functionality portals that are not obvious and affect your ability to use the tool. The software is capable of interfacing with a web-based portal, but the communication between programs is unilateral and not the most useful. **Recommendations to others considering Jenzabar One:** It's cheap and manages students but be prepared for a massive learning curve and some very odd programming choices when it comes to using functionalities. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a student management software to manage our student enrollment, billing, etc. It's much more efficient than using index cards to keep track of students, and it brought our technology offerings into the 1990's, at the very minimum. ### 40. The university I work for paid for the "vanilla" version and let me tell you, that was being too kind. Integration of other systems requires labor hours and a new script to be written to send over a simple y/n trigger for a function. It takes SO many clicks to get where you need to go. Blackboard.... Banner.... Salesforce CRM even. Essentially, I'm getting a full view of admission - enrollment without having to open separate windows. The task list is an amazing feature where our staff can go in and check out what items have been sent automatically and what reminder items we've been into the system may need to be completed on their end. No more having to pull reports to send a personalized message! **What do you dislike about Jenzabar One?** Originally, we had the basic system and did not look too much into the add on features, which created extra work for staff by having to pull reports periodically and send mail merge/generic messages. I would highly recommend connecting with the customer service to see what options can be implemented at a cost level that works for your organization as it created so much extra time for our staff to be involved more with the student services portion of higher ed. **What problems is Jenzabar One solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jenzabar served us well as both a student database system as well as a CRM system. I've realized the extra benefit of the task list and automatic messaging option, which allows more time for other essential job functions to be completed.
