"Complicated Product, Complicated Relationship with Their Service"

What do you like best?

Our eCommerce platform uses P360 to build and maintain hundreds of "micro stores" for our customers. P360 is able to handle multiple distinct shops with separate inventory and allow us to provide a curated experience for our customers. When we were sourcing product information management systems, Informatica's PIMS seemed to have the most robust handling of multiple product structures for distinct customers.

What do you dislike?

The platform is both expensive and incredibly complicated and I've never felt like Informatica was very invested in our success with it. We received a little bit of training from the company (and our trainers were nice enough) but it was always us asking questions and pushing for answers and never them following up and coaching us. I understand we're not their biggest account, but it's left a bad taste in my mouth because the program is not designed to be user friendly or easy to parse visually. It takes us months to train new people on it and when we have questions, it takes a long time to get responses from Informatica. It also felt like many features that should be basic required additional fees for programming/activation. The strength of P360 is maintaining many multiple catalogs that share products, but being able to change a "master" product and have that automagically cascade to all the hundreds of stores required additional programming from Informatica at a high cost. Also, in a world of multiple product pictures and videos, P360 seems to offer limit support for more than one piece of media.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Look, my drama with their service aside, the product itself is robust and solves a major problem for our business. If you need one central place to manage lots of online catalogs, P360 is a great solution for that. Just get ready to learn it deeply and document your training well because it is a beast. And just know that you're going to have to advocate for your own training needs because no one is really going to check up on you and make sure you're making the most out of it. It is VERY easy to miss features or crucial configurations, so ask lots of questions and take lots of notes.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We maintain distinct catalogs or e-stores for customers in different industries and verticals and P360 allows us to juggle all these products between catalogs so that customers see only what they want to see. This allows us to service, say, a giant contracting company building a bridge and a small power generation outfit servicing underground power lines and providing relevant, useful product content to them.

"Desired source of truth"

What do you like best?

Easily integrates with other ETL products from Informatica. Very intutive . Sourcing data from diverse systems is quick. Option of delpoying it to cloud is good.

What do you dislike?

User interface can be made more business user friendly.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are identifying duplicate records for customers in our internal systems. Improving the data quality and single source of truth is helping us to generate better reports.

What Product Information Management (PIM) solution do you use?

"Best BI tool Informatica"

What do you like best?

Allows you to implement detailed business rules to apply to your data.

Works well with any ETL tool, but especially well with Informatica PowerCenter

What do you dislike?

Mapping within the tool can be difficult. But that is slated for upgrade with the next version.

Many detailed screens for the developer interface. This makes it hard to find options sometimes.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Supports future growth of the company when we are seeing drastic changes in IT and business landscape fuelled by big data, social, mobile and cloud

"Informatica PIM"

What do you like best?

Ability to import & integrate the IDQ Rules. With data quality component integrate within PIM its easier to runt he rules created in IDQ and basexd on the rules definition we can check the data quality and we can export it to web shops. There are different channels that we can ctreate and each channels (Web shops, e-procurement, prinnt publishin etc..) can have different data quality validation checks. Also all rules can be executed at the same time. Provides some default data quality rules that you can instantly use it such as (check_datatype, check_maxlength, check_minlength etc...)

What do you dislike?

None so far... it does what it is intended to do for my requirement... however I havent yet tried its all features. One thing I

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Definitely it is great tool including all data quality checks inbuilt functionality as well ass making life easier by doing exports from IDQ and reimport to the PIM. Also some facilities like creating groups for similar kind of rules makes your code more manageable and organized. This tool is definitely easier to use and administer as well as has lots of functionality (with some default data quality rules predefined a.k.a. standarad ruleset and also they are customizable, provided by Informatica when you buy license)

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Masterizing Data and performing deep data cleansing and data quality checks and collect, manage, store and pass the data to the end systems. It helps to provide the consistant product information to all different sales / marketing channels. So when we need to enter new products and or change particular product properties its very efficieant / convenient.
