I really like how Fivetran offers out-of-the-box connectors, so I don't have to connect to any APIs or handle any plumbing. It just works out of the box, which saves a lot of effort on building in-house data engineering. The ease of starting and understanding the pipeline status is great, and it works reliably. Fivetran also provides very good support and a UI that I find very user-friendly. I especially value the connections feature as it helps me avoid building any kind of data plumbing in-house. The only issue with Fivetran is the pricing. It's very, very high—almost prohibitive. Right now, it's not affordable, and I feel they should have a better plan to increase affordability. I like Fivetran's user interface because it's easy to use, which makes creating new connections straightforward. The support emails are helpful, especially when there are updates to the ERD tables. I find it frustrating that some connections keep breaking, specifically my Instagram connectors which break once every two weeks. This leads to losing historical data that isn't saved. If I don't fix it in time, it results in a lot of blank data for the days when the connector was broken. It would be helpful if Fivetran had an option to save some data, especially the tables where we can only save the last 30 days worth of data, and hard save it. I use Fivetran as an integration tool at my tech consulting firm and I'm a fan of its fast implementation processes. I like the product's ability to detect schema changes with minimal extra work, which is crucial when dealing with large amounts of data. The implementation of pipelines in Fivetran feels faster compared to other competitors. I also value the monitoring and alerting features because with multiple pipelines in place, it's important to audit which tables are being loaded or failed. I'd say additional capabilities to manage data quality issues within Fivetran. Things such as anomaly detection and duplicate detection are lacking. I feel like there isn't a tool to truly look into sudden drops or spikes in row count. Also, I don't see anything for automatic duplication for pipeline activities. It's simplicity and ease of use combined with its strong connector and destination db support it makes it really easy to click and go. The free trial period lets you figure out if the connector is worth the price and the estimated mars before going live. Most data extracts are super performant and if there is a schema change the way it easily handles it is a boon. If there's a failure you can rest assured that the support team will handle it for you especially if it has been running successfully and it got impacted due to a change in the source system. I like Fivetran for its ease of use, security, and robustness. Setting up Fivetran connectors is straightforward with good documentation, which makes it very easy to use. I really appreciate the enterprise-level security with Microsoft Entra and OData integration, as it gives us confidence that our data is safe. Additionally, Fivetran connectors have been very reliable, and I find it very helpful that we are instantly notified if there are any pipeline issues. I use Fivetran for ingesting data from our source systems to our data warehouse, mainly for Salesforce, Jira, and Netsuite. I like that it's pretty easy to use, and we rarely experience downtime. I can count on one hand the number of times Fivetran tables did not match our source system, and a simple historical resync resolved this. The cost structure is extremely confusing. MAR is a difficult concept to get in your head. Cost should be easier for the customer to understand. How about you charge based on the number of syncs or something simpler to explain to your Finance team. It is also not the cheapest ETL tool on the market--it may be the most expensive. I like that for the first 14 days, Fivetran offers a grace period where I can change the schema as much as needed, which really helped us in scoping out our requirements without being billed for just trying to understand the data. This feature allowed us to explore how the entire data flow would look like in the future. It's also great that instead of manually dumping data into our AWS S3, Fivetran handles that for us, which feels like a Quality of Life upgrade. Initially, I had a complaint that it does not allow us to send data back to the client's CRM, but they have solved that recently. No other major complaints. Maybe one more thing - I'm not sure if this is already there - but having an API that can be integrated with other applications like Slack or Databricks, so we can trigger system syncs without opening the system. I like the overall dashboard with its capabilities that let me explore different connectors and the extensive area of native connectors, which means I don't have to write my own custom logic all the time. It’s great that, while I don't always have to worry about custom logic, Fivetran still provides the flexibility I need to write custom logic and fetch data from various sources. The ease with which I can set up connectors using just credentials, and the fact that the data flows into my destination, is great. So some of the things that I feel, Fivetran needs improvement on are like the odd start time or the cold start time that it generally takes, where if things had been on a much more active system, they would have been much faster than how it takes right now. I also feel that some requirements like the ability to publish custom connectors, even though it's something that has been actively worked on by the product management team, could be improved.
